Nerwen blinks as the smith who was the best in the land becomes a regular hack.

So you can't change the weapon type on this, even for 200 gold like I thought you said.

Also, percentage chances on effect are goi g to be a pain in the butt for QMs.

Sorry if I'm not quite catching all that was said, but are we allowed to change weapons to a different type now or not?

"Do you happen to have any already forged weapons lying about for sale?"

Posted (edited)

QM Note: The percent chance of effects are only for the forging; it picks one effect based on a die roll and applies it to the weapon. The only roll QMs have to make for it is the 1/6 chance of that effect applying on successful rolls.

That's what I'm best at, so it takes the least amount of time, you see. Perhaps if you should ever return, more of my services might become available, friends. I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience. To top that off, I'm afraid I work on commission basis only; I don't have anything lying around that I could sell you."

"Wow, okay. I'm pretty sure that means you are completely useless to us. Way to make a man excited. Do we look like people you want to appear useless to?" Guts sighs. "Maybe we're best of plundering this guy's shoddy setup and moving on."

Looks like your store got hit pretty bad, friend. Tax cuts are a pain.

Still, would you be able to install an effect into a weapon, or would you have to build one for scratch?

The 1/6 roll the QMs have to make was the roll I meant. Why not just have a weapon that does that effect?

Nerwen picks up the bright purple Katana hanging on the wall beside her. She gives it a couple of experimental swings, the blade cutting through the air with an audible noise. She smiles sweetly

Every weapon here is spoken for? Is this a shop or a storage locker?

Given that making new weapons is what you are fastest at, if you did sell us any of these, the sword point swings around to I dictate the large number of weapons hanging on the walls You could simply make another to replace it quickly.

The sword point arcs back to point at the smith. Believe it or not, I'm likely the most patient and gentle of all those standing in your shop at the moment, so take the hint when I say my patience is wearing.

"What you are offering is both useless and ridiculously expensive. Frankly, you it is just insulting. How do you expect us to leave, empty-handed AND insulted?. Fine let's go."

They're all WP:10. They're all imbued with gems; that's where they get their colour. The red swords are all fire, the white are all ice. Orange are earth, blue are aqua. Green are wood. The bladed fans are my pride-- forging them wasn't easy."

The smith clears his throat. "But for, ahem, friends, I'm willing to part with any of them for 200 gold."

The smith then gestures towards the two sets of armour, his voice becoming more nervous. "And these are... Ahem, my finest armours. Both are SP:5 and have a diamond imbued. The Diamond really brings out the lighter tones, giving it a nice.... white.... colouration."

"Yes, perhaps we should just take the captain's order and be gone. I apologize if my companions appear rude. It's just that we came here expecting weapons of almost magical properties from the stories we had been told. It seems that you have quite a reputation for making reliable weapons, though the stories maybe somewhat exaggerated. In any case, most of our weapons have proved rather trustworthy as of now. So I don't know if any of us will be indulging you at this point. Thank you kindly for your help and if you do happen to get any of your machines running before we leave that would enable some of the finer smithying arts, then do not hesitate to let us know.

"...you don't happen to have or have had any weapons that would deal the petrified effect or a kind of mummifying one for that matter, would you?" I scrutinize his eyes for any sign of reaction, without appearing to do so.

Nerwen slides the purple katana into her satchel in one smooth motion. She pulls 200g out of her satchel and places it gently on the counter.

Unless you have an instrument behind the counter?

bd259fdbe8982f65b15c35f5044067c6.png "Petrified? Mummifying? I've certainly never made anything like that," the smith replies, confusion colouring his face. "I'm not sure where you could find a blade like that, either. A rare property, that."

"A-afraid not," he mutters. "I've made instruments before, but I don't usually put them on display. They don't sell as well as my blades."

Yes, speaking of the Order, have you had the chance to box that up yet? If so, I believe we'll take that and be on our way.

bd259fdbe8982f65b15c35f5044067c6.png "I've boxed it for you, friends. It's fitted with a lock; I followed the Overwatch Captain's commands. You know where to find him, yes? The Tower near the outskirts of the City?"

5e66f3e3336fccda148835e222b6ec6f.png "We know the way," Marcellus assures the smith.

Barus shuffles his feet, eyes darting back and forth between the weapons, nothing more than Marcellus' shadow.

The smith leaves the room, returning quickly while dragging a metal chest along the ground. It looked heavy.

Marcellus makes a gesturing motion with his head. Barus wraps his hands around each end, picking it up-- with great strain. They haul the chest outside, placing it on the paved walkway, Barus rolling his shoulders.

Marcellus, lips drawn into a tight frown, turns to the heroes.

5e66f3e3336fccda148835e222b6ec6f.png "Are you really going to march into the Overwatch Tower and deliver this...package? I don't doubt your strength, heroes, but if they're not expecting you..."

Thanks for all the help, sir.

I think I might be able to get this open. I pull the complete Mithril Crystal. This is one of the hardest metals on Olegia, right? I try to bash open the lock with the Mithril. If this doesn't work, I pass the chest to Guts and head towards the Tower.

Nah, that got dropped from standard rogue training. It's a shame, but I suppose the houses didn't take lightly to there being an army of amazing lock- pickers out there.

The mithril crystal bashes against the lock, scratching and chipping it, though not breaking it open. Marcellus sighs, gesturing Barus to pick up the chest once more.

The dark-armoured man lifts it with a heavy grunt, trudging behind the party as they move towards the outskirts of the city. Buildings become more and more sparse-- not only that, but the few buildings dotting the outer edge are all plain. Perhaps these were the barracks? It would explain the general lack of people-- nobody seemed to roam the streets.

Their destination slowly comes into view, and the heroes get a sense of what, exactly, awaits them.

The tower, entryway fenced in, spires towards the sky. It's not as tall as they imagined, but the bland exterior stretches as high as the City's wall. They approach the courtyard, looking up at the tower. It did seem taller from up close.

The heroes approach the door cautiously, Barus huffing and puffing with the heavy chest in his hands.

Two guards quickly open the door, meeting the heroes in the small, stone-floored courtyard. They don't raise their weapons, but eye the heroes suspiciously.

"Haven't you heard, dead bodies turning up and all. Us mailmen got to stick together and arm up. We got a package, for..." Guts pretends to look at an imaginary shipping label. "Overwatch Captain. Yup. Definitely going to need a signature for this."
