Saberwing40k Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 BTW, the 1x14 probably having a newer mold than the old 1x16, it might be much cheaper to produce and therefore preferred by the set designers. I've actually heard that the 4L axle is more expensive than either a 5L or a 3L axle, because it uses an older mold, so this actually has some basis. Quote
DrJB Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 I was just looking at the 5×11 technic panel, and the price is NOT the same for the available colors. This leads me to believe their price structure is way more complicated that just the amount of plastic. In fact, one can get some statistics/trends by looking at e.g., the prices of the technic beams (liftarms) vs. beam length and color. Stay tuned. Quote
dr_spock Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 It might be related to the cost of the dyes used in coloring the parts. Yellow seem to cost more than light blue grey. Quote
DrJB Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 true ... and yet on the PAB wall, color does not matter. Quote
D3K Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 On the bricklink store I most frequently use, there are 39 1x16 yellow bricks, priced at EUR 0.56, which is less than the Lego asking price. They are "used, in very good condition", which in my experience is pretty much equal to "new" Quote
jantjeuh Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) I'm guessing the price might also depend on the availability of certain colors in stock. Edited December 13, 2014 by jantjeuh Quote
D3K Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Of course. On a side note, I can highly reccommend this seller, huge selection of fairly rare prices, at a generally very nice price. I have bought a lot of ordinary parts as well as electronic ones from him (used in very good condition), and they are generally of a very high quality. The only part I want Lego to reintroduce is the pneumatic cylinder bracket, as they now command ridiculous prices! But as you say; supply and demand - this part is sooo specialized there really is no alternative solution that is concidered legal! Quote
jantjeuh Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Hah yeah, I've bought a lot from him as well. Cheap shipping too. Quote
