Not true. I just conclude everyone else's thoughts. On almost every match so far, there's been a clear winner so I just make it official. As the rounds progress, decisions will more split as the matches get more exciting. THEN I might have to use a bit more judgement based on sound arguments. I should add that there's no rule against imagination and humour. My decisions should be transparent.

and what time is that?

Late evening (British time, which is of course the only time that matters!) It varies based on my shifts and my training. Sometime between about 20:00 and 00:30.

so who wins?

Well that's what we decide. Its an elimination tournament. We started at 64 minifgs (128 was just too many! Quite honestly in retrospect I wish we'd started at 32, but that woudl have prevented some from being a part of it that I really wanted in it).

After round 1, there'll be 32 left, then 16, then 8 and so on. With several different individual's imaginations, perceptions and interpretations I don't think its possible to predict a winner at this stage. That's the fun part.

It seems that after an early lead for Jar Jar, Han eventually won. He goes through to round 2.

Just three matches left

This next match could just be the match of the tournament. Certainly it will see the demise of one of our potential winners. Introducing first, Jedi Master Mace Windu (non-LULS version). And his opponent, Jedi Master Yoda (Jedi Duel)

Round 1, match 30. Mace Windu (Non-LULS) vs. Yoda (Jedi Duel)

mace slices yodas ear off and yoda does a spiral into Mace's Megablocks(waist high)

mace screams in pain and cuts yoda's head clean off

Mace wins but loses his Megablocks

Yoda loses his ear and the battle *yoda* :-D

:-D This is a real tough one which could go either way.

I'm gonna say Mace because he's got thing that Yoda hasn't: Vapaad. Mace is willing to skirt closer to the Dark Side, which Yoda keeps well away from. Though Yoda does have a slight advantage in a chrome-hilt Lightsaber

Ask me again tomorrow and I could give a different answer. For the here and now, I'm voting for Master Mace

even though mace has a saber... *yoda* knows the ways of the force soo much better. yoda could easily force choke him... on the other hand mace could crush *yoda* s lungs like he did to grevious.. but i think yoda wins in the end X-D

Fair point. I stand corrected. :-$ Back on the Challenge....

Mace's general arrogance ("You know, m'lady, that Count Dooku was once a Jedi. He couldn't assassinate anyone. It's not in his character") has annoyed Yoda for the last time and he challenges Mace to a duel. Mace dominates the battle at first, but after an hour of fighting someone so short his back cramps up and Yoda cuts him down to size.

This is a tough choice but here it goes

Mace and yoda are walking threw the kashyyyk forset having a rousing disscusion on who is a better jedI.

The yoda challenges mace to a duel.

"Much to learn you have"-yoda

"oh please you pathetic green dude"-mace

Then they draw light sabers,Yoda draws his light saber using the force

"Such a show off"-mace

"shut face you must"-yoda

Then mace tries to draw his but yoda cuts his arm off

"Ah not again"-mace

"Hehe"-yoda

Mace then force crushes yoda's legs

"ahhhh!!!"-yoda

"hehe"-mace

Yoda is unable to move so mace picks up his saber with his good hand

"Now you will die green dude"-mace

"I will you stop"-yoda

Yoda then grabs his saber and runs it threw Mace

In the depths of the Jedi Temple...

'Sucks, Vaapad,' said Yoda.

'What are you saying, I can't -' asked Mace.

'Does, yes it'

'Vaapad sucks,' explained Yoda.

Mace bottled his rage up, inducing another brain tumor.

'Quit, you really need to. Before injuring another youngling; remember young Skyscraper?'

Mace remembered well. He had brutally murdered Skyscraper five days ago after a light racist joke. Though he felt no remorse, he didn't particularly want Yoda to know that.

'But I can't quit! I spent my whole life practising it!' Mace said.

'Waste of life. Learnt the guitar and become a famous rock star, you could have.' Yoda said.

'Wha -'

'True, you know it to be.' Yoda said.

'That's it! I'm tired of going through this crap every day! Prepare to DIE!'

'Hee hee hee hee. 879 years old, am I. Prepared to die many times, I have, but false alarms, they w -'

'SHUT UP!' yelled Mace, and with that he drew his lightsaber, swung it at Yoda, only to be met by a green blade -

'AaaAAaaAAaAAAaaaaAaAAAaAaaaAAAAAaaAAaAaAaaAAAa !!' Yoda yelled as he swung wildly at Mace's head.

The fight went on for about five minutes, when -

CHOP

THUD

Mace's head dropped to the floor.

Hmm, no real explanation as to why Yoda won, but Yoda is someone I could see winning the tournment and Mace is too agro. X-D

Even though Mace is an ace,(note the Mace), Yoda is a small green uberjedi with a lightsaber half the length of Mace's. Yoda wins because he is just Yoderriffic!

Interestingly, Yoda wins. Shame for Mace, who had such potential.

The penultimate match takes place on board the Invisible Hand. Featuring first a former Jedi Master, now Sith Apprentice. Its Darth Tyranus. And his opponent, from the Mos Eisley Cantina, its an Imperial Sand Trooper.

well if you think about it the sand trooper could call the death star and have it use its cannon to destroy him.

The sandtrooper charges at Darth, who simply uses the force to push him back.

"Hmmm, how shall I do this?" he thinks. "There must be 6 million ways to kill him, so many possibilities." Darth laughs an evil laugh.

The trooper, bored of being shoved back with the force, sits down and resigns himself to his fate.

Darth continues to plan just how he wants to finish off this poor trooper, cocky in his guaranteed easy victory.

The trooper, knowing he's as good as dead, begins tinkering with the ship's computer, looking for something entertaining he can do during his last minutes. "Ah, this might be fun," he says, as he short circuits the entire bridge control computer.

Sparks fly, a small fire starts. Darth is busy plotting.

The fire spreads, soon an alarm goes off. The trooper instinctively dives toward the nearest escape pod and it's door seals behind him.

The fire containment system seals off the bridge and opens it to the vacuum of space, both extinguishing the fire and Darth, all in one quick FWOOOSH!

"Well, I guess it's time to start a new career," mutters the trooper as he ejects the pod which floats down to a nearby planet where he takes up moisture farming and fixing droids brought to him by those pesky jawas.

Trooper wins.

Darth Tyranus easily overcomes the Sandtrooper's pike thing with superior Lightsaber skills.

I make it 4-3 to Darth Tyranus. I'm ignoring FireFury's input as that was exactly what was asked to not happen in the opening thread! That would have made it 4-4 anyway and I'd probably rule in favour of Darth Tyranus on the basis of stronger arguments.

This is the final match of round 1. Tomorrow night, I'll post the winner of this match and conclude round 1, then start round 2 in another thread, opening with a list of the survivors of round 1.

Your next match comes from the world of Utapau. First, its Seperatists-General-come-Sith-Wannabe(expect-he-can't-use-the-force(d'oh!)), General Grievous. And his opponent, interestingly, is his boss. An actual Sith Master, its Darth Sidious (Final Duel I)

So its four Lightsabers vs erm, none. Just a walking cane. But the Emperor has Force lightening. Well that's the General fried then!

Would lightning be more effective against cyborgs? If so, I'd say Sidious, as much as I want Grievous to win. :-(

Grievous draws his 4 lightsabers and starts his impressive-looking-but-surprisingly-useless-defensive-technique. Sidious picks up his cane and thows it. Somehow it passes unscathed though the lightsabers and pierces Grievouses gutsack and kills him.

(Oddly I prefer Grievous, but since he was beaten so easily by Obi-Wan it is implausible that he would win this fight.)

Would lightning be more effective against cyborgs? If so, I'd say Sidious, as much as I want Grievous to win. :-(
