There has been a lot of scandal surrounding the Tour de France in recent years and there are 'behind the scenes' books out there that have cast the tour in a not too pleasant light vis-a-vis dope tests (and I'm not talking IQ here). Any marketing that relies on the 'Tour de France' name could be affected quite easily by any adverse publicity that could erupt at any stage. The relatively short duration of the tour and limited scope for sets would also be factors against this development in my view. David Quote
