Watching footage of "Le Tour" today as it wound its way through the UK streets, I reckon LEGO should do a new range of TDF sets.

Looks like they had some back in 2000 - no sure how I missed them at the time (no, that's incorrect, I was focussing on my forthcoming marriage at the time!) - but, alas, there are none on eBay. :-(

I think a new range would be cool - they could wear helmets similar to the A-Wing Rebel technician in set 6207, the largest set could be a small cyclist's "village" with a medical centre, podium, bike repair centre, TV crew - big TV screen, grandstand, TLG could make more than one team this time - perhaps they could even make a race-type set where LEGO bicycles are projected from a launcher thingy.

What do you think?

Nah. I think the Tour de France sets are fine the wat they are. People focus on the bikers.

But a village would be nice.

If I were Lego I wouldn't touch it with the proverbial 10 foot bargepole. There has been a lot of scandal surrounding the Tour de France in recent years and there are 'behind the scenes' books out there that have cast the tour in a not too pleasant light vis-a-vis dope tests (and I'm not talking IQ here). Any marketing that relies on the 'Tour de France' name could be affected quite easily by any adverse publicity that could erupt at any stage.

The relatively short duration of the tour and limited scope for sets would also be factors against this development in my view.
