Hey, all. Does anyone here know if the brick-and-mortar LEGO Brand Stores are doing anything special tomorrow, above and beyond the sales and promos available at Shop at Home? I know in the past they've offered random discounts on entire purchases, via scratch-off cards that reveal discounts after a purchase total is rung up, but I don't know if that's the case this time around, or if there's anything else I need to go for (I'd always love to go to the LEGO Store anyway, but I'd also like to have more time to do stuff with family).

I'd like to know as well. I was at least hoping for double VIP points, but it doesn't look like it. Back on the 22nd they had double points and the rest of the promotions as an early Brick Friday special, but I figured they'd have the same this weekend (as they did last year) so I waited since I had some family coming in to town this week that I wanted to shop with. Disappointed at that. :sceptic:

I know the VIP Invite-only event had some of the other types of promos you mentioned but, while I didn't get an invite myself this year, other folks on here have said that it was underwhelming in comparison to last year and other years past. I went last year and it definitely wasn't as worthwhile as the year before. I certainly still appreciate any additional perks from the VIP program, but it seems like the promos from TLC are getting less and less enticing each year. All things being equal, I like to purchase from Lego directly, but when they're 20% more than other local retailers it's kinda hard to justify since my pocketbook isn't bottomless!

Just placed my order on S@H.

As we all knew, they are offering set 2 of the 2014 Winter Village extra sets on orders over $99.

I'm trying to double check my order to see if I got double points, but I don't think I did. I'm not going to go through the list, but the number of sets on sale jumped from in the 30s to over 70, yet absolutely nothing I was interested in. Some LEGO Movie sets (none of the popular ones, it seems), 1 Hobbit set (Dol Goldur Ambush), a bunch of Chima sets, TMNT... I didn't notice any new Star Wars (just magnets they already had).

I ordered the Parisian Restaurant; not only was it enough to get me the bonus set, but I had $10 in VIP credit and it's not one that you can get cheaper elsewhere. I guess that's why I no longer get invited to the VIP events, because I started figuring that buying a $30 set at Amazon for $25 was markedly better than VIP points.

But now that I go back to look, and not surprisingly in the least, S@H is having a meltdown... I guess I got my order in just in time.

If you're having problems accessing, but want to see what they have on sale, this website was right on, from what I could tell (although I don't think I noticed Kingdoms Joust).

Yeah, I saw the list at TheBrickFan. I actually am interested in those The LEGO Movie sets, and some of the other things. I dearly wish I were in a position to order something big, but I can't spend that much this year. I'll definitely get something, though.

Mainly, though, I was wondering whether the brick-and-mortar stores were doing anything S@H isn't, such as those scratch-offs from past years. I'm trying to decide whether to run out to my closest store this Friday morning or just place an order online.

From what I understand, while supplies last, you get a free calendar with some minimum purchase - only at the brick and mortar LEGO Stores.

Vorkosigan, the reason I don't think there are double VIP points is because all the other promos are mentioned in the advertising, including the postcards, etc., I got in the post while double VIP points isn't mentioned anywhere.

The free calendar is with $75 purchase. From what I've heard, it does have some good coupons and freebies at the B&M stores throughout the year (a free build-a-minifig box, a free small PAB cup, 15% off a single set - that kind of stuff). That's another reason I didn't order online last weekend when they had the double points- I was planning on shopping in-store this weekend with family and wanted the calendar which didn't seem to be available from S@H. Oh well… hindsight is 20/20.

Wondering if anyone was able to grab one of these:

At Walmart. I saw the Black Friday list on some blog, looked it up at WalMart, and sure enough - 1600 parts for $30.00. That's less than $0.02 per piece, for brand new, wide variety (colors and types) of bricks. Unfortunately, WalMart doesn't sell it on the website... it's not available for online ordering with in-store pick up, and they won't tell you if your local stores have it. I went to three WalMarts, and not only did none of them have this set, none of them had any "basic" brick sets (except for younger kids, like Duplo and Jrs.) at all.

The web page just says "Please check your local Walmart store for this item."

I'd claim bait and switch if it were a $1500 TV with a $50 advertised price... I don't think they have some big strategy to lure LEGO nerds to the store so that we'll buy other LEGO sets, but I find it annoying and would like to know if anybody, anywhere was able to find one (or more). Even at the regular price of $60 it seems like a great deal.

I did see some at a Walmart closes to where I work Wednesday but, it was in the do not sell "plastic wrap" "until time" thing. Plus I when back to the same store today (Saturday) and I did not spot any. Also I did spot some $70 set selling for $39, a link to the sets they are/were selling: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10116&st=1425#entry2060403

I picked up 4 of those Creative Tower sets. 6400 pieces for $120 is easily the best deal I've ever gotten on Lego before. They were in-store on Thursday starting at 6pm, on a wrapped pallet nearish to the toys. I normally wouldn't go shopping anywhere during this weekend, but the absurdly low price on these was enough to lure me in. Walked in with my girlfriend, we grabbed 2 each, and out we went. No hassle, only about 10 minutes in the store.

Was that actually at a US store? That 1600 piece creative tower is not available in the US, according to Lego, and I only saw it in an ad for Walmart Canada. Wondering what's going on with that one...

Yep, it was a US store. I'd seen similar information about it not being available in the US, prior to the actual sale. But they were there, probably about 30 or so total on the pallet.

Well, that is officially the only item I'm sad I missed, then! The $59 retail still isn't bad, but $30 would have been nice!

Black Friday Wal-Mart had tons of those brick towers. That was their LEGO item to draw in people. I didn't go (I don't do Black Friday, esp on Thanksgiving), but everyone in my LUG that went said they had never seen LEGO sell out so quickly. They were unable to grab any, but the pallets were all there empty within minutes...

Other members of the LUG have found them at a LEGO store here in the states, so I'm not sure why it says they aren't available in the US. Probably just not currently available? I don't know.
