I'm here for a bit of help.

I'm looking for some help on how to build a realistic knuckle boom crane in city scale on a 6 wide truck.

Different brands include Palfinger, Hiab, Fassi, Effer.

There are a few around on the net, and unfortunately Lego is not the best medium to use for a functioning telescopic crane.

I'm happy to essentially have two models to use. One in storage/transport mode and the other in the expanded crane mode.

A good example of what I would like to achieve is here: http://www.cranesetc.co.uk/library/conradreviews/71193/71193review.htm

Cheers everyone

A while ago I toyed with a simple design for city scaled vehicles, it can't hold much weight so it's only for very small loads but it does look the part on the back of some vehicles. Longer bricks and liftarms can be used for a more reach but with the current parts selection your options for something that telescopes are pretty limited. Hope the pic helps you Coghilla.

Thanks guys/girls.

Criga88's is closest to what I'm looking for. Many thanks.

lightningtigers reference to selander I've seen before and its a great model, in fact i used their design for the stabilizers of my hookloader trucks.

I might use criga88's idea and expand on it. Its a shame we cannot really replicate it in this scale.
