coghilla Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I'm here for a bit of help. I'm looking for some help on how to build a realistic knuckle boom crane in city scale on a 6 wide truck. Different brands include Palfinger, Hiab, Fassi, Effer. There are a few around on the net, and unfortunately Lego is not the best medium to use for a functioning telescopic crane. I'm happy to essentially have two models to use. One in storage/transport mode and the other in the expanded crane mode. A good example of what I would like to achieve is here: http://www.cranesetc.co.uk/library/conradreviews/71193/71193review.htm Cheers everyone Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I have used the boom setup in the great vehicles little lighting truck for a crane on the back of a pick up truck......I guess you could pimp up that design build a larger heavier crane. Quote
Criga88 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 A while ago I toyed with a simple design for city scaled vehicles, it can't hold much weight so it's only for very small loads but it does look the part on the back of some vehicles. Longer bricks and liftarms can be used for a more reach but with the current parts selection your options for something that telescopes are pretty limited. Hope the pic helps you Coghilla. Quote
Kalais Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 (edited) Maybe try expand build style from set 60054 Working model on youtube: Edited November 26, 2014 by Kalais Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Now that's two of us saying the same thing ! I think 'Selander' has built at least one of these type of crane trucks......you might have to check Brickshelf. Quote
Kalais Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Haha, true! I have read your post but haven't figure out we are talking about exactly same set lol. I am slowly getting to know all new sets I missed during last 20 years of my dark ages ;) I am still in world of 4 studs wide cars :D Quote
coghilla Posted November 27, 2014 Author Posted November 27, 2014 Thanks guys/girls. Criga88's is closest to what I'm looking for. Many thanks. lightningtigers reference to selander I've seen before and its a great model, in fact i used their design for the stabilizers of my hookloader trucks. I might use criga88's idea and expand on it. Its a shame we cannot really replicate it in this scale. Quote
