hey all,

just joined while hunting info on powering the winter village carousel.

im a novice collector, i guess, though limited on what i buy. we always had lego growing up, and still have all of it, which my niece and nephews now use. i still buy new sets which appeal, specifically the winter village range and others which i can incorporate parts from [im looking at you, arctic sled dog teams! ]

i mainly collect tomy/trackmaster thomas the tank, and the lego compliments layouts nicely. each year i do a display at the local model railway club, running thomas and some others, with the winter village filling the centre. of course, kids just love it!

looking forward to browsing the boards and learning as much as i can.

thanks,

charley

ahh, another tomy fan. thats good to know! i started out on tomy, and then bought a collection of tomy thomas in 09. from there its exploded, with trackmaster thomas and more recently the japanese releases which still use the tomy blue track.

not sure on rules about linking to our own sites, so i won't for now. [ok, checked the rules and seems it might be ok, but will still hold off unless asked for it.]

two pics of my latest design. this is for a christmas display next month. im a member of the local model railway club, so i build layouts 2 or 3 times a year. for the christmas show, my stuff is outside, so means completely tearing down and rebuilding. thank goodness for large lego base plates, will make setting up quicker. just wish they made them in white. along with this i also have an HO scale toy story layout and a large tomy ride-on toddler train to set up.

47cmx65cm. not sure how long the table is, so hopefully with have a bit of space on the side to place santas workshop. too cramped in the middle otherwise. this will have a white sheet underneath, which will make things tidier.

thanks. :classic: i dont use the lego trains as i cant afford to support 3 train addictions, lol. i also run some HO and N scale. i also like running trains like what visiting children might have at home.

when we run our 2 yearly railway show we always have "the lego guy". he buys every train released and powers them if they dont come that way. he has even built his own thomas and co. always popular with the kids. he hides minifigs all over as well for people to find.
