jonwil Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Here is a WIP shot of my latest MOC, a Masters hardware store. (for those who don't know, Masters is an Australian hardware store chain) http://cncmods.net/files/masters.jpg In the shot you can see the front entrance (in the middle) and the roller-door entrance to the timber/trade section (where people who need to pick up a load of timber or gear can drive their Utes into and load up) The area behind the roller-door (right to the back) will have the timber, fencing and similar items. The area behind the windows on the other side will be the tool shop stocking everything from generators to hammers to monkey wrenches. Behind that will be the garden section stocking all things outdoor In the middle at the back will be the home section with everything indoor and home from light bulbs to rugs to padlocks In front of that will be the paint shop and checkouts and various misc things that dont have a home. Outside under the blue bit will be the ubiquitous sausage sizzle and there will also be a gas bottle swap station. I cant say for sure but I suspect that (at 48x64 in size) this is the largest LEGO hardware store anyone has ever made (its certainly the largest I can find via Google anyway). And its definatly the largest MOC I have ever made by volume (my train station took up more area but not as much volume since it was mostly empty) Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Well, it's a great start 'jonwil'......though is it modular ? If so might I suggest the roof sections be removable in sections . Now I also suggest using their website for images of merchandise and make stickers for bricks and tiles to be said merchandise. But I think a Canadian Tyre MOC I saw a few years back might be bigger.......anyway keep going 'jonwil' I can't wait to see your next installment.....Brick On ! Quote
jonwil Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 (edited) The roof is removable in one big black section for access to the interior. (and thanks to the sandwich construction used it holds together no problems) As for stickers, I dont plan to make stickers for this MOC (because I cant afford to buy sticker paper right now, because my printer is having issues right now and because I just dont want to use stickers on this particular MOC) Oh and Canadian Tire isn't a hardware store, its more like Big W than Masters (if anything) so that doesn't count. lightningtiger Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Oh, don't say that you'll upset our Canadian brick brothers and sisters ! Officeworks sell a 20pack of matt sticker photo paper for about 10 bucks. Keep going 'jonwil' ! ` Quote
jonwil Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 But I bet whatever its going to take to fix this printer will be a bit more than $10 :) Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 But I bet whatever its going to take to fix this printer will be a bit more than $10 :) Just go and buy one of those 39 buck ones from Officeworks.....it will have enough ink for your to sticker your project. Quote
Criga88 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 That's an impressive start on the exterior Jonwil. I'm looking forward to seeing how you fill the interior. Quote
jonwil Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 ok, interior pictures: First up we have the trade/timber/building products section. In the back a construction worker is looking at doors and windows as well as gates, fencing, shutters, decorative elements and whirlybirds for the roof. Then we have a cement mixer and various styles of bricks plus a timber section. At the front of the store, a customer is buying some lumber on a trade account. You can also see the roller door allowing people to back their UTEs right into the trade section and load up. Next up is the house section with kitchen sink, oven/stove, dishwasher, recycle bins, washing machine, dryer and toilet. Over here we have a rug, a ladder, some wall art, a mirror and a clock. On the other side you can see some products for keeping your house clean along with the emergency exit at the back of the store. You can also see a staff member. In the middle of the section are various kinds of storage plus a chandelier (patterned off the one in the Grand Emporium) Here is the plumbing and electrical section with taps, piping, electrical conduit and some light bulbs. A plumber is looking at the taps. Here is the key cutting counter with the key cutting machine and a customer getting a new key cut. Here is the paint counter with a painter getting some paint tinted. Here is a section showing more storage plus a vacuum cleaner. Here is the front counter. One customer is buying a coil of rope and a refill for his welder, the other customer is buying a hammer and a project plan. This is the tool shop. It has all the tools you could ever want including jackhammers, paint rollers, sledgehammers, torches, glue guns, plungers, axes, chain, rope, signage, welding masks, welders, hardhats, ear protection, fuel cans, oilcans, hand carts, locks, safes, generators, air compressors and saws. Here is the garden section with barrels, crates, pitchfork, shovel, rake, buckets, decorative fish, scare owls (yes they are a thing, google it :), Webber Kettle BBQ, mulcher, chainsaw, lawnmower, Esky, BBQ, Pizza Oven, Plants, Trees, Flowers, Mushrooms, Wheelbarrow, Street Light and some grass. One customer is looking at a new lawnmower and another customer is buying a tree. At the front of the store is the gas bottle swap station and the sausage sizzle raising money for charity. Overview of the entire store. Here is a truck I made to go with the store. The doors at the back should be blue but they dont exist in that color. This MOC won a Chima Eagle Legend Beast in the MOC contest at the last Brisbricks meeting. Please let me know what you think of it. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Not bad work there 'jonwil'.....keep going and Brick On ! Quote
LAKAbricks Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Quite an amount of goods in this hardware store. It's looking great, jonwil. I can easily be inspired by many of your ideas for my MOC projects. - I like the department with things for cleaning - it really looks like some of the poisonous stuff with lots of colour and fragrance you can buy Quote
