Some of the parts are rare and very expensive, so I may change some of the colored parts. How difficult is it to remove the rechargeable battery box? I'm thinking to switch it to the AAA box to save a little money, if it's not going to take all day to change batteries. Quote
designer-han Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Should not be difficult; but of course replace it with the same size AAA box (eg the 88000 part as on the LEGO website). Downside is that that 88000 battery box adds weight to the superstructure, the rechargeable box is significant less weight. And all extra weight adds up to (a little) more stress on the swing drivetrain. Quote
ritztoys Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Future Builders, This type of construction equipment is my favorite and Han has captured it with great 'playability' perfectly. When I was younger and working 9 to 5, I operated a crane very similar to this and every function he designed into this MOC is like the real deal! :thumbup: IMHO the free-fall system is a great design and the bucket does as it should, falling to the material and dragging that next load into the bucket, where you can control both bucket "ropes" and keep your bucket in a horizontal position ( not losing the load ) Han also uses a small wheel under the superstructure to take the strain off of the turntable and the slewing operation is very smooth, no jerking or bouncing. The crawling speed is just right for this kind of equipment too, you must remember that this type of crane rarely moves its' location, but this with all that boom and bucket moves very smoothly. Again with no bouncing or jerking. The model is very solid and quite strong, not that I'm going to lift something heavy. If the builder decides to lift something heavy, using the 'double rope' system it will lift that load, unless you turn it over lifting too much. The BI are very clear and easy to follow, anyone who decides to build this will find that even a beginner in Technic models can put this together. Thank you, Han! I decided to add two sections to the boom, now it is almost 120 centimeters length. I also added a few panels, superstructure now looks a little more smooth. Rear drum winch is powered by L-motor instead of M. And the last thing - I added differential pulley system to the upper hook. I hope that I'll be able to make good quality photos soon. Quote

Model looks good in red and white as well, clean lines, good substitution for the (sadly) rarer green/orange in the original Quote
