john cleese Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 i like your optimism hinkley a new Dacta set. That would be awesome, but i really have to doubt that's the case. Quote

I loved you in A Fish Called Wanda by the way. I also doubt that is the case, but what I meant was a set like the pod-racer bucket or the bionicle "freaky creatures" set or whatever that one was called. Quote
Iron Moose Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Guys, I really suspect that there's more going on in this model than we can see from this picture. There seem to be some unused 'frame' elements at the front of the quadropod... maybe the biped attaches to it somehow? Like an Evil Aero Booster... note that the Aero Booster is right under this thing in the scan. Quote
vahkimetru Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Exo-Force betrayed me. I'm never touching that line again. Quote
Darkness Falls Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Ho my god it's such an horrible set ! *n* *n* Now look at this, flimsy legs for both mechs, the spider thing looks not very poseable or well articulated. Looks realy like an amateur job. I guess I'm gonna stop collecting Exo-Force very soon if Lego don't make an effort. This set is the ugliest an uninteresting Exo-force set ever. *sing* And don't start me about the most stupid name ever... *wacko* And this is from the mouth a a true Exo-Force fan. Flimsy legs? I think you've caught a case of the stupid. Both mechs use the same exact joints as other EF mechs... the larger vehicle uses the Mobile Devastator joints! Personally, it looks fine to me. I'll pick it up. Quote
Starwars4J Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Flimsy legs? I think you've caught a case of the stupid. And I think your attitude is getting a little out of hand >:-( He thinks the legs look flimsy (I just think they look poorly designed, full of holes and...meh, I'm not getting into it), and you think they look fine. You're both entitled to your opinion. How, exactly, would you like being told that you've caught a "case of the stupid" because you thought they looked fine? Quote
Zarkan Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Exo-Force betrayed me. I'm never touching that line again. Not even if the 2008 sets are completely amazing? Because we have no idea what they will be like, and if they are great, I predict you might take back that statement. ;-) Quote

You're both entitled to your opinion. How, exactly, would you like being told that you've caught a "case of the stupid" because you thought they looked fine? I'd laugh. It's a hollow insult. The legs' STRUCTURE is completely solid, therefore I see no reason why they should be flimsy. Quote

I don't care if you can see it, I don't care if you can't see it. I don't care if he's right or wrong. What I said was your ATTITUDE about it was not only harsh, but really uncalled for, and that I've seen you address other members like that for awhile now. Quote
Hinckley Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 What is this? Can it play MP3 format or so? :-D It's a prominent piece in the XXL crane and the Sentai Fortress. It's a huge piece, yes. In the new EF set, the cannon you refer to seems to use one of them... Quote
john cleese Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 (edited) i really hate that yellow piece. It's complete <insert that tiresome argument> megablocking nonsense Thank you John Cleese! I loved you in A Fish Called Wanda by the way. I also doubt that is the case, but what I meant was a set like the pod-racer bucket or the bionicle "freaky creatures" set or whatever that one was called. and what i meant was stuff like this, this, and this Dacta just seems to be the name lego uses to refer to sets that contain supplementary parts. Basically we were on the same wavelength. Edited June 27, 2007 by john cleese Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I like it. Whats wrong with it??? Its well colored and looks cool. -ZotS Quote
phoinix Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 exo-force began so well and now its just terrible!! press the ESCAPE button LEGO!!! enough of crap is enough!! no more of these stuff!! lego is doing so well in other lines and its doing so terrible in exo-force and batman this year was so bad compared to what we got last year!! anyways the kids will probaply like it! but this must be the worst set of the year!!! Asuka Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Sometimes I think that problems like that appears often within longer ongoing themes.... Maybe the set designers, after their xxth mecha, run out of ideas and at the same time they Quote
Starwars4J Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 That's a very good point, Asuka. Sadly EF really never strayed too far from the stick-figure mecha that were front heavy and naked at the back. Maybe one or two sets left that pattern...I think there's still plenty of room to grow if TLG takes the leash off, so to speak, but I don't think it will happen :-/ EF will probably be dead in the next 2 years. Corvus Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) In my opinion, these two seem to be a hoax, or a really ugly prototype. I hope its just a hoax. exo-force began so well and now its just terrible!!press the ESCAPE button LEGO!!! enough of crap is enough!! no more of these stuff!! lego is doing so well in other lines and its doing so terrible in exo-force and batman this year was so bad compared to what we got last year!! anyways the kids will probaply like it! but this must be the worst set of the year!!! I agree. They started off well, got bad, released a a few good in-betweeners (Blazing Falcon, Aero Booster) but now this... It's like they were climbing up a mud bank- they get up, slip down, get up more, and then they slip the way down. They don't need to press ESCAPE- They need control-alt-delete! EF froze up! SW, Bionicle, city, and castle are doing so good- what is THIS?! And the bad thing is that the kids will like it, so they'll do it again next year. Anyway, on to *constructive* criticism- I don't like the spider thing for three main reasons: 1. It's tecnic! arg! Using technic results in oversize sets with too many holes. 2. It's another re-design of the striking venom. They already made one, the shadow crawler. 3. It has no playability. It sits there and swivel the gun, that's it. With mechs you can at least pose them and give them swordfights. On to the mech-thing- I almost like this thing. The leg design is interesting, and the overall color is cool. But it needs some help. The lower leg is bare, and the thighs are :-X . And then look at the arms. I like that it has fingers. If you take off the talons you have a suitable repair mech. However, it doesn't look like the arms can do anything except swivel up and down. It has no elbow joint, and the arms are stuck permanently away from the sides. Also, I agree with DJ Force on what he said about the design. They do fit the Robot's way of production. The mech looks like a disposable moving platform designed to cause maximum damage, and the crawler looks like it substitutes a sound construction for sheer size so it can have the largest cannon possible. However, jus becuase they fit the Robot's design style, doesn't mean that it fits ours. Who cares if they're supposed to be designed to be produced en masse? They're ugly! If it's supposed to fit the storyline, well, scrap the storyline if it causes this! Lego took that a bit far, right? Just because it fits the storyline doesn't mean we want it to look that way! Corvus Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) Yes, we may not like it, but we're minority. The younger ages will, so of course it will sell. Though I'm pretty sure that a good few of us might buy it for: 1: Curiosity 2: Parts Edited June 28, 2007 by Mr. Mandalorian Quote
iamded Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) Okay, an anti-air Striking Venom Visorak with Thunder Fury colour scheme, and an a ground based version of Iron Condor, which I'm assuming is also anti-air, since it's packed full of missiles, and isn't really equipped for ground based attacks except for those claws. 1. Improve the cockpit of the Visorak mech. 2. Make it's legs stronger and more posable. 3. Add something to the lower legs of the smaller mech, because a black 2x4 plate doesn't do it for me. Then I'd consider buying this, it would be much better. Oh, and give it it's proper name. :-P Oh, and 4. Add articulations to the small mechs arms! Edited June 28, 2007 by iamded Quote
