Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 28, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) I think most of us would love to see elves released in some form, hell then the chance to have our own pip off version of LOTR would be complete.... Yes yes, elves would be great. Hopefully that's how the castle line will evolve. Seems like the most logical next step. Edited June 28, 2007 by bonaparte Quote
Starwars4J Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 While I would love elves...how would it work? The trademark of elves would be their ears (unless you just call them elves like most MCN decals), and even normal figs don't have ears, so how would you go about it? New head mold to include ears? Seems a big expensive. Just calling them elves? That could draw criticism of them being lazy since they look like humans. Don't get me wrong, I hope they move in that direction as much as the next green guy. However I'm just unsure how they'd go about doing it. Finally we could have a proper link MF though :-D Quote

Maybe the ears could be integrated to the wig.... Although that would be a problem with hats and helmets.... but the ears could be integrated to them as well.... but that Quote
natelite Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Instead of elves, just call them forestmen. :-P bring back robin hood and his merry men! Quote
Khorne Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Give them another kind of skin color and say they're elves, that might work too. Quote
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Actually, only lame World of Warcraft elves are distinguished by their long ears. Tolkien, Forgotten Realms, and Shannara elves all have short, pointy ears. Quote

True, but nobody said anything about them being long :-P Their distinguishing feature are their ears, which would be difficult to represent Quote
Brick Miner Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I respectfully disagree. I played with 7775 Aquabase Invasion for hours and I think it looks great on a shelf.now thats the kind of playset and playability im talking about... what a great set and theme. great example, hinckley !!!- BM Quote

These guys look like elves, don't they? (just something I found on BS) Edited June 28, 2007 by bonaparte Quote

Starwars4J Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Well yes, those are customs from MCN, however that's taking the secondary route I mentioned...having the heads be human, and just calling them elves, which could of course lead to some people complaining about them being lazy :-P Quote
Oliverphoenix Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Couldn't they just print pointed ear decals on either side of the head along with the face?Thats how I envision them doing elves if they ever do it rather than wig/hat pieces with actual ears, somehow I just don't think that would work well. New style bows are a must of course. Quote
alex54 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 And what about *yoda* ? He has got some ears, so why not having the same "kind" of heads?Just put a stud on it and you can put some hear like for male and for female... Quote
gusmoore17 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Replying a little bit latter: []Tolkien is in the Air!!! Disliking the KK feeling in the design and in almost the entire set Liking the Dwarves and the Troll Loving the minifigs accesories, can't wait for the carts and the new pieces. TLC has designed a must-buy set creating an entire new possibility of playing for the kids and of background story. MOCing possibilities! *wub* Quote
iamded Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 I disagree. This set doesn't look KKish at all. The only aspect they've taken, along with the other sets, is the use of those 2x1 bricks that have a pointed slope for battlements. This set actually reminds me of Vikings, with the Viking axes, the helmets similar to the Viking ones, and the monsters they fight. And there's the big wheel used in the latter of the Viking sets. I think it keeps with the Castle theme well too though, with the dwarves having the same blue/light blue colour on their shields, but with the dwarf helmet instead of the crown. And the dark blue and gold colour scheme for the building, with light grey walls. Then again it's very unique, with all the different platforms and ladders and gadgets and whatnot. Although I keep wondering why the mining carts are green. It gives the impression they are made of that soft bendy plastic. They'd be better in silver or light grey, or even dark grey. Or blue. Not green though. What, are they mouldy or something? *wacko* Quote

Exactly Alex !! *yoda* 's head is an exemple on how TLC should approach the elvish faction !! Soft plastic hehe However this is not great to include helmets |-/ But on the other hand, regular plastic head could be good if the cost is not too steep and if the ears are dne correctly. I mean look how TLC approach the Goblins: they just added a helmet to lure the problem |-/ Its i,n common culture that Goblins do have pointy ears a bit like elves. They should have made a better HP's Dobie in sand green !! That would have been perfect |-/ *yoda* Quote
Vader Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 You know i believe that tlc have got this set just right, some are saying its to kid'ish and others believe its not. Personnaly i think the sets alittle of both, tlc are forever getting hammered by us fans for going to far either way. So to see a set that appeals to youn and old fans is great, hell it dosent happen very often thats for sure. Quote

Shakar Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Here's a suggestion for those who dislike the "Goblins/Orcs/call them whatever you like" 's swords: what about replacing them with some good, not so old, black scimitars? Shakar Quote

I hope new metal color scimitars will come in 2008 sets! I absolutely love the flexibility of use of those things. You can make an oriental halberd off of it too. Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 If the goblin heads turn out to be terrible, this is a worthy substitute. And it actually looks more gobliny! That is the one HP set I wish I got, only for more li'l legs and the goblin head. Quote
Wout Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 I think the goblin heads from 4714 Gringotts Bank in sand green would have worked better. There are in the new Hogwarts 2 mandrakes Heads, who also make a nice head for goblins. Quote
john cleese Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 hold on there guys... We dont even know if they are supposed to be goblins. They could be orcs or zombies or someting else. Quote
