ritzcrackerman Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Have any sneak previews or pictures been leaked of the Winter Skating scene that will be available November 28th through December 1st? It's obviously alluded to in the November store calendar - but I don't recall actually seeing what it looks like. I've searched on Google and within the forums, and am coming up empty. (Wondering if it will be worth budgeting for then or not). Quote
Big-whoop-Guybrush Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Nope nothing's been shown or leaked. They're being very secretive ! I'm in the same boat as you tho. If it's naff I'll get a set this month to benefit from double points so the sooner it's shown the better Quote
TheLegoDr Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Don't you think that is why they haven't shown pictures?? If you know you'd prefer to have that over the current offering, you'll only buy something next month. However, if you end up buying the current offering to be safe and then later see pictures of the next offering and want it too, then you'll scrounge up money to buy it also. LEGO is sneaky like that... I already built in budget for both to be safe. Quote
agadoijo Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I'm also looking, for quite some time, for clues or an image of this set and so far what I found was the code/name: 40107 - Winter Skating Scene. No pictures whatsoever... weird! Last year, as you can see in this topic ( http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86420&hl=40083 ), the set's images (amazing images) were already revealed by September 2nd... So why so late this year... marketing strategy or lateness??!! For me, in comparison to the title of the first one, this second set does not seem so attractive... but I might be wrong. Quote
Venunder Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I imagine it will be something like this one, that came with the WV Bakery http://brickset.com/sets/10216-1/Winter-Village-Bakery Quote
parsom Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I hope that they don't give us skating elves. Quote
agadoijo Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Fresh news http://www.1000steine.com/brickset/images/40107-1.jpg Apparently it was revealed by mistake... "The second of this year's free Christmas sets, 40107 Ice Skating, has been sent out in error with a shop.LEGO.com order to LugPOL member len in Poland." However small, I like that's a bit different from the one of the WVBakery set... And we have a lampost!!!! Quote
badbob001 Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Thanks for the news! I'm disappointed with the 'reveal' since it can't be integrated with Santa's Workshop, but it would go with the previous winter sets. I suppose Santa's Workshop itself doesn't integrate with the other Winter Village sets either... unless you assume the whole Workshop is just a prop... Quote
pugmom Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I really like it - especially because it is more wintery than christmasy. Thanks for posting the pic! Quote

Andy D Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 (edited) Very nice, but not a compelling must have like the set 1... I will get one, because I am a completest. And it does contain a lamp post. Andy D Edited October 20, 2014 by Andy D Quote
Withacee Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Yes, that would fit right in with the rest. I like that one! Besides, it gives me an excuse to order something, again ... I will get one, because I am a completest. Andy D And that's another great excuse; must remember that one! Quote
ritzcrackerman Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 Ask, and ye shall receive! I think I can pass. This looks simple enough to make on my own. I do wish they had included some additional hockey sticks, though. The brick-built solution is poor, considering a mold currently exists. I'll have to remember on the next survey, though - if TLG really wants to get me excited about exclusive sets like these, they need to include some new torso and face prints. These rehashes are just getting ridiculous... Quote
Blakstone Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 New prints are very unlikely to happen in these sets. For years, LEGO used a very poor Santa with no printing a plain red hat and beard. It was only once they had a CMF Santa that we have switched to that design for the Winter Village, holiday decorations, and advent calendar sets. This years Winter Village has a new Mrs Claus skirt print, but they did not spring for a new torso piece at all. That was for a flagship set no less. This looks like a new promo set. If I can, I will start an online order for Black Friday as I expect triple VIP points as well as this set. I would have preferred the molded hockey sticks but I like the two sets of ice skates and that black lamp post. I bricklinked a bunch of those lamp posts as the white lamp posts look off to me. Quote
Big-whoop-Guybrush Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 (edited) Not a huge fan of this set but I'll probably get it if they're offering triple points that weekend Edited October 21, 2014 by Big-whoop-Guybrush Quote
Darth Punk Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 It's a nice little set, in of itself. I like the idea of a little sledding hill and might add a larger one to my winter scene separate of the ski slope. Also, the 1x1 tile could be removed from the hockey stick and it might improve its look. I'm certainly not gong to go out of my way to pick this up as I have already expanded my bakery ice skating rink. And the hill would seem out of place in my overall scene so I understand why others are underwhelmed. That being said I imagine this will satisfy a good deal of people who are less interested in the elves scene and by itself this set would make a nice display. Quote
