9v system Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Hi I got a technic control center 1 off brick link, it works but I don't like using battery's. is there any way to put it on a continuous adapter I have a 9v one but it did not light up when connected but when the battery's were put back in it worked So am I doing something wrong or should I get a higher voltage adapter? 9v system Quote
9v system Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) Thoughts anyone? Edited October 17, 2014 by Alasdair Ryan Bumping your own topic like this is not acceptable Quote
BusterHaus Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 You don't need higher voltage. Are you plugging in your transformer jack directly into the TCC? Are the size and polarity correct? Is it hard-wired to the battery terminals? If yes, are you matching the polarity? More info will help us help you. Quote
kieran Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 No reason why it won't work, check the power supply you have is doc output not ac Quote
9v system Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Well I'm trying to hard wire it on the battery terminals but no mater what I do it does not fire up Quote
DrJB Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 He said Control Center 1 .... CC1 uses batteries only, CC2 uses batteries and also has a plug for a power adapter. I am not sure about the internal wiring, but it might very well be that internally, there is a connection to the mid-point (i.e., 4.5 volts). I have seen that on some old radios (many years ago). Before doing that, I'd first take a voltmeter and make sure the adapter you're using is truly delivering whatever voltage it's supposed to be delivering. If that fails, take a screw-driver and open it up. Be careful though as some of the wire's rubber may be very brittle and could break off easily. I did replace mine on my CC2 .. all you need is proper gage wire and a soldering iron. Let me know if need more help. Quote
9v system Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 I opened it up internally and there is a big circuit board on the back. There are two wires coming from the + and the - terminals and I toyed puting the current onto these two wires but nothing happened yet when I put the battery back in it works. Quote
DrJB Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Then the issue is definitely your power adapter. Are you sure you got the voltage correct? ALso, lego made two versions of the power adapter: AC and DC. Make sure you're using the DC version. Quote
9v system Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 I had a look at my power adapter and it says ac on it so I will have to find a dc one. Quote
kieran Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 That's the issue, it will be ac in and needs to be dc out Quote
9v system Posted October 18, 2014 Author Posted October 18, 2014 Is the dc symbol a line with a dashed line below it? Quote
9v system Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 I've got some good news MY CONTROL CENTER WORKED! On the power adapter I also hard wired a old 9v battery box too and that works good on the mains Quote
