Bernadine Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Hi, I'm Bernadine from Rockhampton, Qld, Australia. I never played with lego as a kid and I'm now 45. A few months ago a friend had a castle and it was awesome with all the secret places and the detail I was completely fascinated with it. Well the next day I bought a castle and that was it, I'm hooked. I'm now building my own lego city. So far I've put together and own 2 police stations, fire station, hospital, the grand emporium, pet shop, parisian restaurant, bikeshop and cafe, town centre, house with light, (heartlake mall, heartlake school which I'm not as keen on), garage, cargo plane, fairground mixer with power, winter carnival, cargo train, high speed train, passenger train, train stations, trucks, helicopters and a few more and im still completely fascinated. Also the Opera House, the Tower Bridge and the VW Campervan. I'm totally into it. I've started making lights for my city and am working out how I'm going to do my roads. Glad to be a member. Cheers Quote

Bernadine Posted April 9, 2015 Author Posted April 9, 2015 Hello again everyone. I haven't posted anything since my first post as I've been busy building my lego city which I'm going to post pics of as soon as I work out how lol... Quote
dr_spock Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Welcome aboard, Bernadine. If you have your photos on Flickr, here is a tutorial on how to deep link them into your EB post. Quote
Bernadine Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 Sorry peoples I think I messed up with the pics. They seem to be very large I'm not much good at this posting pics etc sorry. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Welcome to Eurobricks! Great to hear that you are starting with lego without the "usual" child experience. I am seeing that you are creating wonderfully lit city streets. However, please note, that your pics are a bit too large for our standards. We usually go by 800 x 600 pixels. Quote
dr_spock Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 (edited) Since it looks like you're using Brickshelf, you'll have to re-size your pictures to 800x600 before uploading them to Brickshelf. Brickshelf doesn't have resizing features. I use a program call Infraview on a PC. It can do batch resizing. Edited April 13, 2015 by dr_spock Quote
Balbo Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Welcome to eurobricks You really have a nice collection! Quote
BrickJagger Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Nice collection? Have you thought about posting this in the town forum? Quote
BrickChic_au Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Love all the lighting :) is it pre fabricated sets or are you clever with wiring? Also have you looked at joining an Adult Fan of Lego User Group yet? There's a great one in qld called the Queensland Lego User Group. There's been talk of doing a regional show in Rocky and getting more local members from there is a great way to get it all happening :) look us up, we'd love to have you if you aren't already a member. We have some avid train and city fans <3 Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Welcome to EB (such a long welcome ) and also excellent layouts 'Bernadine'.......when you have even better shots you can post them in the city/town forum. Brick On 'Bernadine' ! Quote
Robin Creations Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Welcome to Eurobricks! The lights look really good. What is the red thing in the top of the third picture? Quote
Bernadine Posted April 18, 2015 Author Posted April 18, 2015 Hi there thanks for the compliments everyone. As i havent shown my lego to many strangers its great hearing good feedback. I seen some similar lights to the st lights and liked them but didnt want the same so modified mine a bit to make them mine and the lights around the outside along the railway track r my complete design and ive put a light in the chandelier in the Grand Emporium and made real spotlights out of some fake ones that came with the Cinema which turned out well. I've found lighting is fairly easy and it makes it look so much better i believe. The red thing in pic 3 is a lighted tree in my yard sorry its just in the background. My lego platform which i completely designed and built is on an electric winch by wires going through pulleys connecting the winch to the platform so i can raise the whole thing and walk under it. I didnt have the room otherwise to build it. Quote
