Bob De Quatre Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Hi Special folks... (hum that doesn't sound that good) I'm looking for feedback on set 10664. It's a basic parts/plates set that contains 1600 parts and is sold at 60€, so 0,034€ per part. Set on Rebrickable Does anyone bought it? What do you think of the part selection? Quote
jodawill Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I don't think any of us could really answer that for you. Do you need those parts? If not, it's not a good deal, regardless of the price. Quote
J.V.D. Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) I never did buy this specific basic brick box, but did buy a couple of others in the past... When you want to start to expand your basic brick collection they are ideal ( as the name sugests) and also pricewise you cannot really go wrong.. However, it really depends on what you need them for.. usually I find the mix they offer rather poor in more "special" bricks. What you do e.g. with only 2 4073 round studs or 4 cheesy slopes of a certain color? On the other hand these boxes contain a lot (more then I need) of "thick" x*2 wide bricks (2*2 ; 2*3 ; 2*4), while for mocs I mostly use x*1's , plates, slopes, modified bricks etc.. which usually you only find in very limited quantities in these boxes.. Bob De Quatre Posted September 25, 2014 Author Posted September 25, 2014 I lack basic bricks, especially white and blue. But I agree there are lots of 2 wide bricks that aren't that usefull... Thanks for your feedback. I'll probably wait to get in on sale. Quote
Artifex Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 If you mean to enlarge the amount of bricks you got in order to MOC, I'll quote a Lego-store employee to whom I talked to for a few minutes the very month I came out of my Dark Ages: "If you like Castle, buy Castle sets. If you like City, buy City sets. They'll have most bricks you'll need". That was quite accurate. Quote

Colossus Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 If you're thinking Classic Space, then this box looks like it could be a waste of $$. Most of the colors wouldn't fit the style. Maybe look through the parts inventory pages in Space sets instructions and check for common parts used throughout the sets. Brickset.com or something like that has an online catalog that contains TONS of instruction for download. Then PAB or Bricklink the hell out of them. Quote
AndyC Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I sometimes find these "basic bricks" type boxes to be reasonable value if you can repurpose the actual container as Lego storage too, since reasonable quality storage boxes are often quite expensive anyway. Quote
