Tommy Styrvoky Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 This motor stopped working after a while and I opened up the casing and the circuit board was cracked in half, if I were to remove the circuit board completely would that damage the motor? I will upload a pic of the board later today. Quote
aol000xw Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Unless you kept it stalled Id say no. Quote

Nalyd997 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I am no technical wizard but I would say that that little circuit board changes the strength of the energy flowing to the motor, so if it is removed power would be directely going to the motor, hence making it wear out. I am not sure if this is correct but if you remove it it probably won't work but it is still worth trying cause hey it is not doing anything at the moment;) Quote
Phoxtane Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 If *I* had to guess, I'd say that the yellow round thing is a thermistor, which is a little device that Lego likes to use in their motors to temporarily turn them off when overheated. Considering that the only other things on the board look to be diodes (one-way streets for electrical current IIRC), I think you're fine in taking out the board as long as you don't treat the motor roughly or plug it in the wrong way. Someone else will have to confirm my guess before I'll stand behind this though! Quote
khchai Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 try to turn the gear at the motor first, if the motor can turn by hand, means the motor no jammed. some times the wire connection not well may cause the current did not flow inside the motor. also try to check the electronic components too. happy repair. The motor functions properly, it will turn on when power is applied.I just need to solder the 2 wires together. Quote
