TK924 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) I have started with some slight modifications to my ISD 6211. The first thing is fixing up the command bridge. I only had one discolored 4x8 plate with plans to replace it with a light blueish gray one soon. Next up is that I have some dark blueish gray technic bricks to replace the white ones that run down the sides. I also want to add some additional hinges because almost every time I open it up, the side panels come loose from the hinges. I'd like to beef up the bottom as well. Additional base plates? Suggestions? Edited October 1, 2014 by TK924 Quote
goatman461 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I would look to 75055 for ideas. It may seem inappropriately small for an ISB, but I think it is a really good looking build. I got the 75055 and plan to redo the interior, but I am very happy with the outside. Quote
TK924 Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) I have looked at this video on YT that someone made comparing the 6211 to the 75055. I do like the build of the new one, but I'm not crazy about the size. I'll never say never though. Edited September 9, 2014 by TK924 Quote
TK924 Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) UPDATE: Got the white technic bricks swapped out for dark blueish gray pieces. Before: After: I think this is a small improvement, but I'd still like to someday replace the white 1x4 pieces as well as the blue technic pins. What do you think? Fuppylodders Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I think it looks really nice with the improvements, but I think there is room to go one better... perhaps making a SNOT detail to completely cover that gap on the side between the upper and lower plates? Quote

Thanks. Do you mean to replicate the 2x12 light gray piece that's mounted on the side? Edited September 12, 2014 by TK924 Quote
TK924 Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 These are not my pics, but this is what I'd really like to do for my ISD 6211 along both sides... Quote

TK924 Posted October 22, 2014 Author Posted October 22, 2014 (edited) OK, this is where I am at this point with my ISD 6211. Comments and suggestions are welcome. Edited October 28, 2014 by TK924 Quote
Veynom Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 This is indeed much better. If you can, do not hesitate to add more greebles on these sides. Quote
will Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Does it still open up ok with the extra bits added? Quote

Alijster Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Nice... I always hated the different coloured technic bricks showing, GOOD JOB! Quote

DarthTwoShedsJackson Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 This is a good start. Do you also plan to make the bridge section smaller to be more in proportion to the rest of the ship? Quote
TK924 Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 (edited) This is a good start. Thanks! Do you also plan to make the bridge section smaller to be more in proportion to the rest of the ship? Probably not. I wish I were that creative. I just copied what others had done to improve my 6211 over stock. Edited October 23, 2014 by TK924 Quote
will Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 After seeing this I decided to have a go at modifying mine. I didn't replace the technic beans, just did my best to hide them. Unfortunately I can't add more greebling without compromising the opening of the top section, but I'm pretty happy with the result. I may look the bridge section at another time. Quote

Replacing the technic beams is not necessary and was a novice mistake on my part. Quote
TK924 Posted October 28, 2014 Author Posted October 28, 2014 Here's what I added to both sides with what I had left. Hopefully I can add more in the future. Quote
will Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Sorry to bring up and old topic, but I thought I'd add my update to this thread rather than create a new one. So I finally got round to modifying the bridge section, removing all the white bricks (except technic beams which I mentioned in a previous post), and removing all the trans-green blasters and replacing the side guns. I originally just modified the bridge using the existing set up, but I then decided to build a whole new one. It's still a bit too wide and tall, but it's a bit smaller than the original. Making it smaller means you can't put a minifig inside unfortunately. Quote
TK924 Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 Nice work, will. I like the new bridge and the guns too. Are the guns the same as found on the new 75055 ISD? Quote
will Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Yes very similar. I preferred the look of them to the originals and I also thought they we're a bit flimsy. Quote
Th3_ES Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Nice work. In my opinion, the original bridge of the 6211 is very ugly. So I like the work you 2 did to it. @ will: I like, that you removed the old 2 turrets and improved it to 4 turrets per side, for me, this is more realistic. Quote
