Posting images is one of the best ways to share your creations on Eurobricks. This guide is intended to help members understand how to link and embed pictures from popular hosting platforms, while also outlining a few simple recommendations that help keep topics easy to view for everyone.

The generic guidelines can be found in this first post, the platform specific guides can be found in the second post of this topic.

General Image Guidelines

Before posting images from any hosting platform, please keep these recommendations in mind:

• For all platforms please take care of images being in a public folder for embedding to work.

Recommended display size

• Please link images at approximately 1024px on the longest side.
• Larger images slow down page loading and can make topics difficult to browse.
• Most image hosts allow you to select or generate a 1024px version.

Embed images, not full-resolution originals

• Always try to use fitting resized versions when embedding images.
• Full-resolution images can still be available through your external gallery.

Gallery links are encouraged

• If you have many images, embed a few highlights in your post.
• Then provide a nicely formatted link to the full gallery.

Recommended Post Structure

A good post usually combines a few embedded images with a gallery link.

from some time I am only using link on the top right - https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/discover/unread/ - to check new forum posts.

And I was surprised that no one post MOCs for a very long time. And then I was just manually checking every subforum and sub-subforum and noticed that there are a lot of new MOCs posts. They just don't show in unread content. I've never seen them there.

It is a bug? Or a feature?

An extra question:

How to setup some search link to show all unread MOCs from all subforums?

Going one by one is tedious, to many of them. Some of the sub forums like Star Wars got another subforum (Mysteries: A Star Wars Role-Playing Game) where there are also a lot of great MOCs.

I've had a dig around in settings and I can find how to enable them, but no way to have it stop asking.

unfortunately some change I applied yesterday had unforseeable negative effects, which just started to get visible by today. Right now most / half of the profile pictures are not shown correctly.

We are invesigating the incident and are in contact with the vendor already to apply the right solution as soon as possible.

From the Eurobricks FAQ, here are the answers to some of the common questions:

Why can’t I see my profile, or other members’ profiles?

New members’ accounts have a few restrictions in place to keep spammers and bots from abusing the site. Most noticeably, members can’t view personal profiles (including their own) until they have achieved 10 posts. This restriction is lifted automatically when your post count reaches 10.

Why can’t I use my Personal Messenger?

New members can’t use the Personal Messenger to send or receive messages until they have reached 10 posts. Members with the rank of Knight (500 posts) and above can start group PM conversations. The specifics can be found in the User groups and tags reference thread.

Why am I unable to post in specific forums?

As an anti-spam measure, new members are denied posting rights in selected forums until they have reached a number of posts.

Where can I find help with the new board features?

If you have trouble finding your way around the new board, head to the EB Visual User Guide for help with all the new (and old) features. Alternatively, you can also have a look at the integrated board help feature.

The URL gives a weird syntax with double folders. See this example I picked from the topic above:

This is the same for all "old" links I have encountered. New links I did recently are fine.

Is this something that can be fixed, or are all the old links now false forever?

Currently several subfora are massively being spammed by some obscure airline hogwash.

Is it possible to block this, maybe by a more specific "favorite theme/recently bought set" query during account setup?

This spamming really is a nuisance, as it puts serious topics far down the list. So any measure to prevent this would be greatly appreciated.

All the autoplay videos can be a bit distracting, but the even bigger problem is that in quite some cases it won't embed automatically (this happens for images too and not sure if there's a way to force embedding of a link) or when I open the page it won't display (even though it did display a few minutes before), and not sure what it depends on, probably internet throughput, which may be limited by Bricksafe's side as well, but I guess the more embedded videos want to autoplay at the same time the worse it gets.

I was wondering if it would be better to embed them without autoplay, and allowing the user to start them as needed, with sound. Are these embedded with the HTML video tag? In that case it allows embedding with controls instead of autoplay. Could this be a choice when embedding a video in the post?

some may have recognized already: Since some weeks we have integrated our Frontpage News to be posted to our Facebook site (https://www.facebook.com/eurobricks).

We thought it may allow our community and their great builds more visibility to reach more people. Vice versa we see it a good possibily for people at Facebook recognizing where they can find the makers to ask questions.

I know this may be hoping for a bit much, but is it possible to somehow make the software ignore text format (or at least color and background color) on pasted content so things appear as intended for both light and dark mode users?

there was a missconfiguration done by me which just went into an error after some weeks. This was the reason for Eurobricks not working this morning.

while trying to log in today, I noticed that it's not possible by entering username + password any more, but now requires email + password.
Is that a bug, a new security feature, or can I choose login options somewhere in my account settings?

[2025/02/08] UPDATE: I have stopped all my efforts on fixing minor issues with the current themes, as the vendor released the new v5.0.0 Release of the product.

Tiny gaps / issues we are already aware of

The new forum version has minor changes in the design, so if your eyes or brain tells you "its looking slightly different", then they may be true. We tried to re-create the old default theme (+ Technic theme is the only other I was able to prepare)

• Theme / Visuals:
  • [work in progress] Some elements are hard to read / no good contrast combination of text & background colors (for both Light & Dark theme)
    • [Change] Changed one dark theme background color for quote blocks and other elements, should allow for better readability already
    • [Change] Poll bar colors were changed for better readability of the % values
    • [Change] Three-Dot-Menu on every posting got a more vivid color, as the edit functionality is reachable via this button
  • [work in progress] The old themes are considered deprecated and they need to be recreated for the subforums
    • [WATCHOUT] Setting the old themes may render your forum view useless & you may not be able to set it back! You need to contact us via email.
  • [known/not started yet] Some Special Tag Icons not being shown. This is not related to the maintenance, but me screwing up last week. Will be fixed the next days

for years I was using same copy-paste technique for embedding images on forum with bbcode. It was working fine. It still works on other forums. But here on Eurobricks my posts do not displays images, just bbcode.

Examples:

I checked next topic to mine from other author and it seems to sufler same problem, only bbcode with no images visible:

I also checked some older posts of mine which I used exactly same bbcode and they are still working fine, images are there. So bug must be only in new posts.

It is forum bug or I am missing some option?

every morning, my wife (she gets up early, I go to sleep late - but do prepare breakfast for the early bird before calling it a day) gets the newspaper into the house. I have no clue, how these folks delivering the newspaper can survive ... it must be 3/4 am when they begin their "tour" ...

Nevertheless - the one thing I learned from my parents was, that newspapers are ... important. They are telling the truth ... 

Not relevant. Much more relevant is that "my" old fart tag = the newspaper tile is gone. THAT IS TERRIBLE. I love newspapers. As in paper. What can I do ... so my question is: Does that mean, EB is going full electronic? No more paper? Oh crap ...

Every now and then a number of topics get the red 'Unread post' icon. When I click the icon there appear to be no new posts in the topic.

Is this a known issue?

How do you delete your attachments from the "my attachments" folder? It seems to not be possible. Also, I can not upload any pictures because it says i have used all my space. I cant delete them to make more. Lastly, how do people have so many good resolution photos with such a small photo size limit? I only have 3 pretty bad quality photos in my attachments folder. Thanks a lot in advance

It was around 2013-17 that I remember this set was in the shops. It is a Porsche, a big one and if I remember correctly it's yellow. I always dreamed of buying it, beacuse I love Porsches, but I can't find it anywhere, not even a picture, nothing, like it was never existed.

Way harsh? Yeah it is, but don't worry there's a silver lining to this rule.

A new subforum has been created, called The Bazaar. (EBay was taken.) In there we're going to have a more relaxed area where buyers and sellers can go responsibly wild... if that makes any sense. Let me explain;

Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds new rules

• LEGO only, 100 posts to create topics and new joiners can't post.
  
• Topics about general selling belong here. That is, topics like regional availability and sales.
  
• Occasional sales topics are allowed. The general rule is once a year. The idea here is you should restrict it to incredible offers; such as an Airport Monorail.
  
• Bumping sales topics is 100% banned. That is if no one posts in you aren't allowed to "reply".
  
• You are allowed to talk about the BSTF forum.
  

The Bazaar rules

• Same base rules; LEGO only, 100 posts to create topics and new joiners can't post.
  
• The old rule of sales bumping is relaxed. Bumping is still discouraged, but responsible bumping is now allowed.
  
• The quasi rule of too many topics is relaxed. Be responsible.
  
• This is an AFOL forum. You should understand what responsible posting is.
  
• No posts are counted in the forum. You will never be promoted again if all you do is post in The Bazaar.
  
• No topics in the forum will appear in Active Topics or New Posts.
  

Anyone who breaks the rules of the BSTF forum will have all their recent sales topics moved to The Bazaar and repeat offenders will be banned from selling on EB... or worse.

Overall, the intention of this change is to make everyone happy. The rules as they were didn't make much sense and I generally felt stupid "enforcing" them; to avoid bumping members create multiple topics, which is probably worse. Thus we end up nagging members which nobody likes. This way it's a lot freer, yet there still is the capacity to use EB to make that once-in-a-lifetime sale and get good exposure. Now if people want to look for sales they can, and if they don't they aren't bothered by them. Everybody is happy....?

This is an experiment. If it all goes bad it'll be "undone", but I'm hopefull that it'll go well. Please feel free to share any thoughts on this change.

N.B. The rules in the topic were correct at the time of posting. I won't be maintaining this topic long term. Anyone who quotes these rules later on will be showered with defective M%g! Bl@ks.

I understand we aren't supposed to use attachments for our images, which is why I'm trying to remove it, but this one is apparently here to stay...
