Hello Eurobricks community!

Posting images is one of the best ways to share your creations on Eurobricks. This guide is intended to help members understand how to link and embed pictures from popular hosting platforms, while also outlining a few simple recommendations that help keep topics easy to view for everyone.

The generic guidelines can be found in this first post, the platform specific guides can be found in the second post of this topic.

	General Image Guidelines

Before posting images from any hosting platform, please keep these recommendations in mind:

For all platforms please take care of images being in a public folder for embedding to work.

	Recommended display size

Please link images at approximately 1024px on the longest side.

Larger images slow down page loading and can make topics difficult to browse.

Most image hosts allow you to select or generate a 1024px version.

	Embed images, not full-resolution originals

Always try to use fitting resized versions when embedding images.

Full-resolution images can still be available through your external gallery.

	Gallery links are encouraged

If you have many images, embed a few highlights in your post.

Then provide a nicely formatted link to the full gallery.

	Recommended Post Structure

A good post usually combines a few embedded images with a gallery link.

	Example layout:

 Spoiler

 Quote

 Here is my latest build!

 IMAGE_URL_1

 IMAGE_URL_2

 IMAGE_URL_3

 Full gallery with additional photos:
GALLERY_LINK

This keeps topics clean and easy to browse while still allowing members to explore the full image set.

	Image posting

 Spoiler

If you would like to paste image urls to be shown in your post, just paste the URL and it will get rendered. Alternatively you can use the "Other media" button in the bottom of the reply text field:

	Image Linking

 Spoiler

If you would like to paste image urls to be shown as textual links, use the "URL" Button in the editor bar:

A dialog will pop up to allow you to enter the URL and an optional text:

	Summary

For the best experience on Eurobricks:

 Use ~1024px images for embedding

Avoid posting very large full-resolution images

 Embed a selection of images

Feel free to provide a link to the full gallery

I have finished my MOC and would like to present it on this platform with some photos. However, all my pictures have a size of 5 MB or more. Eurobricks only allows 0,1 MB and I can only reduce my photos to 25 KB or more, for example with https://mbtokb.net/ and the quality suffers a bit. How do all MOC designers solve this problem?

Or how to use it?

	Hello,

from some time I am only using link on the top right - https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/discover/unread/ - to check new forum posts.

And I was surprised that no one post MOCs for a very long time. And then I was just manually checking every subforum and sub-subforum and noticed that there are a lot of new MOCs posts. They just don't show in unread content. I've never seen them there.

It is a bug? Or a feature?

	An extra question:

How to setup some search link to show all unread MOCs from all subforums?

Going one by one is tedious, to many of them. Some of the sub forums like Star Wars got another subforum (Mysteries: A Star Wars Role-Playing Game) where there are also a lot of great MOCs.

	I need help ;)

Is there a way to turn this pop-up off permanently? Clicking the 'No thanks' just snoozes it until the next time it decides to ask.

I've had a dig around in settings and I can find how to enable them, but no way to have it stop asking.

	Hello Community,

unfortunately some change I applied yesterday had unforseeable negative effects, which just started to get visible by today. Right now most / half of the profile pictures are not shown correctly.

We are invesigating the incident and are in contact with the vendor already to apply the right solution as soon as possible.

	Sorry for the inconveniences already!

It may possibly take at least a day for getting an answer from the vendor. I will hand an update here latest tomorrow evening (German time).

Ask any membership and forum-related questions here.

From the Eurobricks FAQ, here are the answers to some of the common questions:

New members’ accounts have a few restrictions in place to keep spammers and bots from abusing the site. Most noticeably, members can’t view personal profiles (including their own) until they have achieved 10 posts. This restriction is lifted automatically when your post count reaches 10.

Is it possible to old links that were put into posts pre-update are no longer working? For example, I made this topic last year and it contains links to other posts and MOCs, which now no longer seem to work when you click them.

The URL gives a weird syntax with double folders. See this example I picked from the topic above:

https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/applications/core/interface/file/index.php?file=/index.php?/forums/topic/200382-ol-fb-la-revenante/

This is the same for all "old" links I have encountered. New links I did recently are fine.

Is this something that can be fixed, or are all the old links now false forever?

	Hi there,

Currently several subfora are massively being spammed by some obscure airline hogwash.

Is it possible to block this, maybe by a more specific "favorite theme/recently bought set" query during account setup?

This spamming really is a nuisance, as it puts serious topics far down the list. So any measure to prevent this would be greatly appreciated.

I have recently discovered that it is possible to embed a short video that is hosted on Bricksafe the same way as embedding an image, which is pretty good. However, I have been wondering how it is supposed to be used / working. In my experience, what happens is that it's embedded in an autoplay, silent way. That means when I embed more than one video, they will both autoplay, and there's no way to stop them, and also to hear the sound we need to open them in a separate page, the possibility of which is not obvious.

All the autoplay videos can be a bit distracting, but the even bigger problem is that in quite some cases it won't embed automatically (this happens for images too and not sure if there's a way to force embedding of a link) or when I open the page it won't display (even though it did display a few minutes before), and not sure what it depends on, probably internet throughput, which may be limited by Bricksafe's side as well, but I guess the more embedded videos want to autoplay at the same time the worse it gets.

I was wondering if it would be better to embed them without autoplay, and allowing the user to start them as needed, with sound. Are these embedded with the HTML video tag? In that case it allows embedding with controls instead of autoplay. Could this be a choice when embedding a video in the post?

some may have recognized already: Since some weeks we have integrated our Frontpage News to be posted to our Facebook site (https://www.facebook.com/eurobricks).

We thought it may allow our community and their great builds more visibility to reach more people. Vice versa we see it a good possibily for people at Facebook recognizing where they can find the makers to ask questions.

We hope you appreciate the feature of cross-posting.

As a dark mode user, I have noticed a vast amount of posts still being forcefully posted as black text on white background. While I cannot imagine people doing this intentionally, I can only guess that the forum software supports rich text format when copying and pasting text from a different source. Meaning if people post to multiple sites and they use light mode themselves, it will force the pasted text format into black text on a white background.

I know this may be hoping for a bit much, but is it possible to somehow make the software ignore text format (or at least color and background color) on pasted content so things appear as intended for both light and dark mode users?

	Hi folks,

user @ArrowBricks reported a possible bug to us, original observation:

Therefore I would like to ask the community if others experienced the same.

More detailed questions I would like to ask, if known by anybody (if there are other similar reports):

Can you remember how long it took for working on the reply text, before finally trying to hit the Reply button, leading to unresponsivness / no action happening.

Is it a possible scenario for your mobile device switching from its direct mobile line connection towards wifi, or the other way around? (May result in other IPs of your Browser)

How did you progress after it was obvious, posting did not work? And did it help?

Was the text you entered still available after for e.g. reloading the page, or are all typed-in input gone by then already?

Since migrating my main public social media to Bluesky (https://bsky.app/) from Twitter, I've missed being able to automatically embed my posts when I link them in a comment here (for example, sharing a social media post with MOC images). Would it be possible to implement embedding of Bluesky posts? This is both a request and a query, I genuinely don't know how embedding is done or if it would be something that could be implemented separately or if Twitter embedding is baked into the forum software.

we have planned a maintenance for Eurobricks starting from the 20th of January 0:00 UTC. We are estimating the maintenance to last for a maximum of 16 hours with already having huge buffers added - so in best case we may even be faster.

Why we are having a maintenance:

We want to upgrade the forum software to the latest version

We need to migrate to a new server with better hardware specifications

Both topics will allow to increase security and future availability. Some other technical behind-the-scenes changes which may allow us to deliver a better overall performance of the site.

 Short FAQ section:

"Can I reach the site over the maintenance period?" - No, the site will be put offline directly from the beginning and just be enabled again when we are finished.

"But I need to participate in a Contest, otherwise ..." - We clarified with the staff team to not hit a ending date of any contest.

"Do I need to do anything special after the migration?" - Not much - you may need to login fresh with your regular credentials.

	Hi,

for years I was using same copy-paste technique for embedding images on forum with bbcode. It was working fine. It still works on other forums. But here on Eurobricks my posts do not displays images, just bbcode.

	Examples:

I checked next topic to mine from other author and it seems to sufler same problem, only bbcode with no images visible:

I also checked some older posts of mine which I used exactly same bbcode and they are still working fine, images are there. So bug must be only in new posts.

It is forum bug or I am missing some option?

	Dear Mods,

every morning, my wife (she gets up early, I go to sleep late - but do prepare breakfast for the early bird before calling it a day) gets the newspaper into the house. I have no clue, how these folks delivering the newspaper can survive ... it must be 3/4 am when they begin their "tour" ...

Nevertheless - the one thing I learned from my parents was, that newspapers are ... important. They are telling the truth ...

Not relevant. Much more relevant is that "my" old fart tag = the newspaper tile is gone. THAT IS TERRIBLE. I love newspapers. As in paper. What can I do ... so my question is: Does that mean, EB is going full electronic? No more paper? Oh crap ...

What is the story behind Eurobricks? Who founded it and when? For many years before joining I was reading stuff as a guest and found the discussions very interesting. I joined LUGNET in 2002 but in later years it seems to have gone very quiet. Fortunately Eurobricks seems to have many active users. When I search for MOCs online I find a lot of pictures on social media sites, I like to look at those MOCs but I find the Eurobricks discussion forum far superior to social media sites. I'm not a member of any social media site (except Youtube) because I don't like the way they operate. Eurobricks is perfect for me because here we can have interesting discussions and share pictures of MOCs.

I cant delete them to make more. Lastly, how do people have so many good resolution photos with such a small photo size limit? I only have 3 pretty bad quality photos in my attachments folder. Thanks a lot in advance

Hi, new to the forum and to Lego, i am currently making the Bonsai tree kit and was thinking about adding LED lighting as this kit has a base, i was going to fit 2 or 4 color changing LEDs to the base shining up into the tree, i did some googling and found the Lego lighting kits and thought these would be great, however further searching brought me to this forum and to a post asking about the same thing, the guy asked if it was possible to fit a system that didn't req relying on a battery (as i believe is what is in the Lego kits), so my question is can these lighting kits be run on a LED driver (like Christmas tree light, or a USB charger,) i'm by no means any sort of electronic genius, please bear that in mind in any answers i have had some experience of wiring up LED previously, i used to make model car and truck kits and always added lighting to them, they were always on a 12V system using 480 OHM resisters, so i know nothing about lower or higher voltage sources,

i would like to be able to switch them on in the evening etc and there is a 240 outlet pretty near the display, thanks for any advice you can give, best regards Ian

After much thought and debate we've decided to clamp down on regular posters in the Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds forum. It seems to me that some members have joined EB to just sell there and avoid EBay fees, as opposed to what I've always seen as the purpose of the forum, which is a place for members to sell to people they trust, to discuss with the same people deals and news... Thus from now on no member will be allowed to sell or try to buy in the BSTF forum regularly.

Way harsh? Yeah it is, but don't worry there's a silver lining to this rule.

A new subforum has been created, called The Bazaar. (EBay was taken.) In there we're going to have a more relaxed area where buyers and sellers can go responsibly wild... if that makes any sense. Let me explain;

Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds new rules

LEGO only, 100 posts to create topics and new joiners can't post.

Topics about general selling belong here. That is, topics like regional availability and sales.

Occasional sales topics are allowed. The general rule is once a year. The idea here is you should restrict it to incredible offers; such as an Airport Monorail.

Bumping sales topics is 100% banned. That is if no one posts in you aren't allowed to "reply".

You are allowed to talk about the BSTF forum.

The Bazaar rules

Same base rules; LEGO only, 100 posts to create topics and new joiners can't post.

The old rule of sales bumping is relaxed. Bumping is still discouraged, but responsible bumping is now allowed.

The quasi rule of too many topics is relaxed. Be responsible.

This is an AFOL forum. You should understand what responsible posting is.

No posts are counted in the forum. You will never be promoted again if all you do is post in The Bazaar.

No topics in the forum will appear in Active Topics or New Posts.

Anyone who breaks the rules of the BSTF forum will have all their recent sales topics moved to The Bazaar and repeat offenders will be banned from selling on EB... or worse.

Overall, the intention of this change is to make everyone happy. The rules as they were didn't make much sense and I generally felt stupid "enforcing" them; to avoid bumping members create multiple topics, which is probably worse. Thus we end up nagging members which nobody likes. This way it's a lot freer, yet there still is the capacity to use EB to make that once-in-a-lifetime sale and get good exposure. Now if people want to look for sales they can, and if they don't they aren't bothered by them. Everybody is happy....?

This is an experiment. If it all goes bad it'll be "undone", but I'm hopefull that it'll go well. Please feel free to share any thoughts on this change.

N.B. The rules in the topic were correct at the time of posting. I won't be maintaining this topic long term. Anyone who quotes these rules later on will be showered with defective M%g! Bl@ks.
