Another phenomenal MOC from the city's head architect and foreman! ...I also have a request - could you please post the NYC building you modeled your work after? ;-)
Thanks 007! What very nice things to say. :-$ And thank you for all of the architectural terms so I can talk more clearly about my MOCs in the future...I do like the fire escape better in my fire station but, it's funny you like the FS better because after building this new MOC I am thinking about giving the FS a makeover! I learned a lot about building when making this and want to apply it to my other MOCs. (I'll post the pic of the NY building at the bottom of this post)
Zouave, perfect? Why, thank you so much. The building is minifig scale:
you can also see more pics with minifig interaction in the full Deli Brownstone gallery
. I'm not sure how much it would cost to build it with all new pieces from Bricklink. My collection is 25 years old and I had most of the pieces I needed. I spent about $20 in supplemental parts on Bricklink. Knowing how much the CC cost and seeing that my MOC is taller and has some inside detail (I plan to furnish the whole thing soon!) I would guess it would be at least $250.
Alex54-I do see that the Cafe Corner looks small next to it, almost out of scale. But, drving around Chicago neighborhoods I do notice that most floors are not the same size from building to building and usually don't match up. So, I'm fine with the CC's floor being about a brick shorter than the floors of the Deli Brownstone. However, I do want to modify my CC (even more) and make the first floor taller and a little more architecturally interesting around the windows. It's funny :-D to me that I built the Deli Brownstone to compliment the CC and now I'm going to go back and make the CC compliment the Deli Brownstone.
Thanks to everyone for all of the nice feedback. I really appreciate it:
007, here is the inspiration pic I used. It is the brown building in the center. The first floor is completely different as I plan to do another building based off the first floor:
