Hi!

I did this MOC for the Eurobricks event in Günzburg. I called it The Midnight Build because to me it captures that feeling of building
late in the evening with some favorite stuff (RB On!) to eat/drink as the only companion.
It contains some quite hard-to-find pieces, for example two Trans-Black Plate, Round 1 x 1 & one Trans-Black Cone 1 x 1 for the Coke bottle.

I made 15 copies of this set which were given out to the Eurobrick members at the event.

Here´s the package & pieces:

Here´s the set:

The thing he´s building is a Sandcrawler. After I took this picture the front was changed from
a 1x1 Reddish Brown to a Reddish Brown Slope 30 1 x 1 x 2/3, thanks RAS for that idea *y*!

The minifig:

Here´s the pieces except for the minifig:

The Metallic Silver Radar Dish 3 x 3 isn´t in the list - my bad MLCAD knowledge is to blame :'-(.
And the Posted Image is just tan above.

The building instructions can be found here:

I hope you enjoyed it :-$.

Why couldn't you have thought of this last year? :-P . It looks really good! Did you make it with Lego Factory? Too bad the minifig is a fleshie though ;-) . I envy this years Eventees.

Actually there are many pics of this superb set waiting on my hard drive to be smashed into a picture review, I just lacked the time to resize the pics and write it yet!

A really lovely (oh, those details!  *wub*) vignette! Everyone should try to make its own!!!  *wub*

But I gotta call the customer service, my set was missing a black 1x2 plate!!!  :-D  :-P

Wait for pic review ON!

No, I put the pieces together and then used MCLAD for the instructions.

Yeah, it really sucks :'-(! But I guess if you make it perfect from the beginning you only can go downwards ;-)!

Well, what can I say that hasn't been said?
Looks like a lovely little gem of a set.

I especially like the idea of a micro sandcrawler. Lego minifigs building their own little Lego sets...
Very well done!

:'-)

Instructions?
Who needs instructions? >:-)

*looks for his 1x2 black plate*

Yup, got mine! :-P

I showed the Midnight Build my colleagues at work. They were deeply impressed.
Though I don´t know what impressed them more: Me playing/building with Lego or the build itself... :-|  :-D

Sort on!

Yeay a fantastic set made by our house Negotiator !!

First of all, it was such a great gesture, I shall keep it as is as is to remember how great that event was (G I am so behind my pics and posts regarding the event !! I shall do that this week end loool)

Also, for a first vig, its fantastic !! That dark trans cone is great for cola bottles hehe and the ad on of  the chocolate bar was nice !! Having said that ( :-P ) you should have done what we do in the event with cadavers of bottles on the floor, a bottle of Rhum, and chips all around  :-D  But I really understand that need of a PG rating instead of the R rating  :-D  !!

And  *y*  *y*  for that magnificent micro sandcrawler  8-°  That thing is just ingenious !!

Once again great set and a great and sincere tks my friend !!

Midnight Build On !!

Can you explain some of the background behind this set's creation?
It looks like it came in a nice package ala LDD Factory... but as you said it was not created from Factory.
Is this some special service TLG sells? custom set orders?

or was this created and parts bricklinked, and packed entirely by private individuals??(AFOLs)

Hi xenologer!

First of all The LEGO Group has nothing to do with this set - it´s not a Factory product, custom order or any special service.

Background: I decieded to do something special for the event. So I came up with this vignette.
As I wrote before "I called it The Midnight Build because to me it captures that feeling of building
late in the evening with some favorite stuff (RB On!) to eat/drink as the only companion
."

The pieces: The parts came from my collection combined with Bricklink orders.

Package: I was thinking of making a MOC box with the LEGO-look but decieded against it.
The reasons were that I wanted something that you can open/close and that it would have been to expensive/ to much work.
So I went with the cardboardtube with plastic lids. That´s why this tread was created >:-)!
The picture on the "box" is photoshopped & printed on photopaper, then cleartaped on.

So you´re right - this was a AFOL-creation all the way. And if I were to see in the future it probably not the last one .... ;-)!

That's nice. I like the colors used for the walls, and that mini-mini-Sandcrawler. So how much did those pieces cost in total for one set?

Hey Copmike!

I just put all the bricks from the Midnight Build into my personal brick-index (you know what I´m talking about). I realized that you have a wrong curved plate in your BOM.

Talking of the colours, the bricks used for the wall are sandnblue, aren´t they? And what is the colour used for the chair? *wacko*
