Hi all,

This moc is my contribution to Danish LUG Byggepladen's autumn competition. The challenge: Build a way station on a single 32x32 baseplate with two straight tracks positioned four studs from the edge. The idea is that all contribbtions can be used in future Byggepladen layouts as they fit with the track and road standard.

My model is inspired by typical Danish way stations along local railway lines but is not based on any particular station.

The train is modelled after the S50 that used to run on the HTJ local railway in western Sealand. My model is slightly downscaled in order not to dominate tha way station, and I have used the small train wheels for that reason.

The series of pictures below show the construction of the front. It is pretty tight, but sturdy.

I am looking forward to your comments.

Have a nice weekend,

This is brilliant! I love all the details in it like the cat climbing the tree. The train is a brilliantly compact design.

Any chances for an interior shot?

I really like the way station, but I love the little rail bus. The micro striping with hinges and rubber bands is very nice and the headlight mounting is clever.

A great little scene that shows if you concentrate your detailing efforts into a small area you can get great results.

I just noticed the front window mounting, that is just genius, and I know a prototype it will work for. I hope you agree with me copying someone's technique is the highest praise

Oh and I'd suggest you submit this as an entry to the Railbus challenge on Flickr;

Hey, beautiful station and rail car. It really reminds me of rural Europe. The parrot might be a little over-the-top though. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Peter, and you are more than welcome to use the front window technique.

Thanks for pointing me to the flickr challenge. I have used the opportunity to join flickr (!) and added a picture to the thread. I have also added a few of the front window pics to the Lego Techniques group. This Flickr thing seems quite neat, actually... :classic:

Also a big thanks to everyone else commenting, much appreciated. And yes, the porter just climbed the stairs... I realized this when placing the minifig, but decided lo leave it there to see if anyone would notice.

Amazing snot-technique on the front part of the train and a wonderful little station! A great inspiration! It's good to be reminded that not everything need to be big to look good!

The station is cute - my favourite detail is the upside-down antenna for the drain pipe. The star of the show is the railbus though. As Peter said, the construction of the front is genius!

Good to see you Flickr. You might also want to join the Lego Train Ideas group...

That is an all around fantastic build. It is so perfect that at first glance you do not notice all of the detailed snot work going on. The station has great details, the railbus is dead on, and then the building techniques are top notch. Wow!
