Esben Kolind Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Hi all, This moc is my contribution to Danish LUG Byggepladen's autumn competition. The challenge: Build a way station on a single 32x32 baseplate with two straight tracks positioned four studs from the edge. The idea is that all contribbtions can be used in future Byggepladen layouts as they fit with the track and road standard. My model is inspired by typical Danish way stations along local railway lines but is not based on any particular station. All pics can be found here after moderation: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=536031 The train is modelled after the S50 that used to run on the HTJ local railway in western Sealand. My model is slightly downscaled in order not to dominate tha way station, and I have used the small train wheels for that reason. The series of pictures below show the construction of the front. It is pretty tight, but sturdy. I am looking forward to your comments. Have a nice weekend, Esben Quote
JopieK Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Hi Esben, it is a very, very nice train! The station is also nice. Quote
LegoTrainFanatic Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Good job! I like your use of hinge bricks to create the thin white line, as it looks great, instead of using a standard plate. I wouldn't have thought of that! Quote
UrbanErwin Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 It looks really good, and there are some great techniques in there. Quote
Man with a hat Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 That's a cute little trai statio and the train fits perfectly with it. And a very clever use of thos white elastic bands. Quote
dr_spock Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Very nice. Thanks for showing your techniques. Poor porter had to carry the baggage dolly up the stairs. Quote
SlimShady Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Great shape and colour. I also like facade of the house, it's very good. Quote
Mutant Orc Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 This is brilliant! I love all the details in it like the cat climbing the tree. The train is a brilliantly compact design. Any chances for an interior shot? Quote
peterab Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 (edited) I really like the way station, but I love the little rail bus. The micro striping with hinges and rubber bands is very nice and the headlight mounting is clever. A great little scene that shows if you concentrate your detailing efforts into a small area you can get great results. I just noticed the front window mounting, that is just genius, and I know a prototype it will work for. I hope you agree with me copying someone's technique is the highest praise Oh and I'd suggest you submit this as an entry to the Railbus challenge on Flickr; http://www.flickr.com/groups/legotrains/discuss/72157632986480226/ Edited November 9, 2013 by peterab Quote
ronenson Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Marvellous front of that train. You've packed the details of an 8-wide train into 6-wide. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 AWESOME train and nice station 'EK', I like the brickwork on the station and that SNOT front end on the train.....pure genius.....Brick On 'EK' ! Quote
kermit Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I love this moc you made. there is so much going on in such a small place. The train is very cute as well as the house. Quote
Pop Bumper Pete Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 love the train and the station it would be wonderful to see this as part of a larger layout with the train running Quote
Redhead1982 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 This is a really lovely model of a small train station. The rounded front of the train is simply amazing, the snoted curve works perfectly for the cabin. Quote
Hey Joe Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Hey, beautiful station and rail car. It really reminds me of rural Europe. The parrot might be a little over-the-top though. Thanks for sharing. Joe Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 WOW waht an amazing scene! The station is fantastic but the train ...OOOOH GOSH is totally cool! The front nose of this red car is a masterpiece! Quote

Thanks for pointing me to the flickr challenge. I have used the opportunity to join flickr (!) and added a picture to the thread. I have also added a few of the front window pics to the Lego Techniques group. This Flickr thing seems quite neat, actually... Also a big thanks to everyone else commenting, much appreciated. And yes, the porter just climbed the stairs... I realized this when placing the minifig, but decided lo leave it there to see if anyone would notice. Esben Quote
skriblez Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Very nice train station :) Like all the small details you have manged to include :) Quote
Paddi Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 WoW! The Front is awesome. Realy cool Snot. Quote
HenrikLego Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Amazing snot-technique on the front part of the train and a wonderful little station! A great inspiration! It's good to be reminded that not everything need to be big to look good! Quote
Duq Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 The station is cute - my favourite detail is the upside-down antenna for the drain pipe. The star of the show is the railbus though. As Peter said, the construction of the front is genius! Good to see you Flickr. You might also want to join the Lego Train Ideas group... Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 The cat on the tree is too cute! Quote
ScotNick Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 That's a lovely station! I really like the snot technique of the rail car, and the tree looks very well too! Quote
zephyr1934 Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 That is an all around fantastic build. It is so perfect that at first glance you do not notice all of the detailed snot work going on. The station has great details, the railbus is dead on, and then the building techniques are top notch. Wow! Quote
