thewatchman Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Hello again town forum, After getting the 10937 Arkham Asylum kit a few months ago, i felt compelled to modularise this build in order to give it a more pronounced feeling of size, and dread. So after a month or so of work on it, building and pulling it down, iv come to the final design idea, and while not complete, i thought id share the progress with you all as its constructed. (if anyone cares :p) So lets get too it shall we, first a front shot of the building, giving a rough idea of the overall final design: As you can see iv tried to incorporate as many of the original kits design elements as possible, and expand on whats there. So lets take a walk through the doors and explore the first floor; As you can see here iv kept the colour scheme and the doors of the original the same, and simply made the steps bigger, and with a small path leading to the front from the street. Once inside were greeted by the security desk and elevator in the bottom left corner; We also have the confiscated weapons wall; And the cells of the original kept and added to because i love the design; Moving onto the second floor, i kept the beautiful windows from the original kit, and to increase structural strength built the balcony of the 3rd floor into it; In this floor we have the cells of the more dangerous criminals; (jokers cell as of yet unfinished) Mr freezes custom climate controlled cell ices over; The third floor will (when finished) house harleys change room, dr stranges office and the medi bay; Harleys change room has a spinning statue to get inside; Dr stranges office backs onto the balcony seen in the second floor roof; And the medi bay for the "poor" injured batman victims delivered here :p; The final little detail is a spire i designed for the roof (will be decorated to a later date to look better);] Which im sure you all think looks rather poorly built and uninspired... until the silver wheel is pushed in the dark; And batman is summoned... I hope you all like the project and ill be happy to let you all know how it turns out and i will post update images when i do. Thanks for looking and would love some constructive criticism. Quote
kermit Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Do you have side walls to the building? I like what you did with the interior and all the details. what size baseplate did you use? Quote
thewatchman Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Not yet, iv yet to actually buy / build the side walls. The baseplate is 32x32 :) Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Nice work 'thewatchman', but shouldn't this be posted in the Licensed forum being it's for DC Super Heroes ? Anyway, Bat-Brick On 'thewatchman' ! Quote
thewatchman Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 I thought that at first but at it's core, it's a modular building, so I didn't know. Ill let the mods decide :D. Quote
The Jersey Brick Guy Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I like it! Please post more photos when you do more. Quote
eurotrash Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 IMHO I think it belongs here - I mean I can see this standing next to a modular Haunted House, or alongside the Town Hall. I like it and it looks good. The facade was good on the original and your additions have made it more so. I can't wait to see the final version. Keep us posted! Quote
thewatchman Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Thanks 'eurotrash', it actually is next to my modular haunted house, should I post that up too? I figured everyone else would have done that already. :p Quote
Only Sinner Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I love all the little details you've put into this, especially the bat-signal. Show us your modular haunted house, too. I'll bet it would look good next to this. Quote
datune Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Very nice! How did you manage to pull of that batsignal? Quote
thewatchman Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 It's a "bat" brick, with a light brick mounted in front of it. Ill post pictures of it disassembled later if you want. Quote
King Aragorn Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Fantastic MOC and beautiful internal details! Quote
thewatchman Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 Okay so this is necro-posting if ever it was done but I finally put the majority of pieces together wanted to present to you all my finished arkham asylum, appreciating all constructive crit and the like. overview back view (with elevator slot) first floor and elevator second floor also contains the front of the front of the third floor too. scarecrows cell and the jokers padded cell ivys containment cell mr freezes climate controlled room killer crocs aquarium and that is the second floor. The third floor is made in a awkward fashion that turned out pretty well, but i know many purists will dislike its adherence to modular standard. seeing how it fits in and lastly the finished roof and improved bat signal Quote
3BrickFriends Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Its turned out great as a modular building. Nice use of space. Quote
