You have some very nice ships Kurt.
Great introduction!

I had already seen your irconclad on BS.
It's a real masterpiece.
I have build a version of the monitor myself some time ago, but didn't take any decent pictures yet.

You should check out this cannon thread at EB for other ideas for cannons and carronades. Maybe even show off your cannon on there.

Your ships are amazing, all of them. But I really like the RTS LEGITOR, it's not like every other ship we see. People don't make steam boats it seems.

Thanks, I am glad you like my ships.

RTS LEGITOR was months of work, designing the cannons, figuring out the turret (which ofcoarse rotates), figuring out the hull .
So I am glad you enjoy it.

Messing around and taking pictures is a pain.

I spent time looking at every Passaic Class monitor picture I could find, and time at peeron trying to figure out how to do things, I filled a dozen pages in my Lego design notebook working out details.

I am glad you like the cannons, a lot time in those too. Read the lugnet thread and follow some of the links to the real cannons.
FYI:
"As far as I know, the guns at Filipstad are the only ones of their kind left in the world today. And what guns they are. Two 15-inch, cast-iron, muzzle-loaded smoothbores—“Dahlgrens”—each weighing some 42,000 pounds (21 tons) and capable of firing a 450-pound solid shot. They were the terror of the American Civil War. So what are these mammoth specimens doing in Filipstad, Värmland, in rural Sweden?"
- Howard J. Fuller The Guns at Filipstad

Anyone here from Sweden?

gave their lego lives, SHOCK and HORROR! I spray painted them black. I know, I am really bad!

I guess you could leave a chrome muzzle-end on a black body.

is it possible for you to post the plans for the RTS Legomalee (I hope I spelled that right). I would like to know what materials are needed as well. I may want to construct a near copy if I ever get the money.

Also, who is the best brick supplier? (In Western USA).

There are no detailed plans, all you can do is look pictures, and at the cross-section in my pirate vignette.

The one who has the parts I need at the lowest price? Is this a trick question?

Ah, you need help using bricklink!

Go to bricklink and enter the part you want click "Go!"

Lets say you entered a 3001 which is a "brick 2 x 4"
You sould see
http://www.bricklink...arch.asp?q=3001

Now click Show More Filter Options

Now chose your country or Region put a dot there and pull-down the correct answer.

In the "Sort by" pull-down select "Lowest Price"

Click "Go!"

Now you should see the lowest priced parts in you Region/Country you might want to add a color you do that by typing in the "Search Within Results" entry window.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much!!!

BTW Your moniter is truly the greatest LEGO steam vessel I've ever seen!

In the same category, I would like to someday build an Ironclad central battery vessel or an early armoured cruiser (right now, the Inflexible and the Riurik are possibilities). Right now I have a battleship constructed (will post pics soon), but what I have in mind is bigger.

However, my funds are short now, so this will be postponed.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make a convincing turret of the period (1870-1920). Inflexible doesn't need them, but the Ruirik has a few.
