Unique Characteristics:

pictured: A typical Tolimaran home, where a Cave Spider Tamer comes home to his wife.

Mountainous landscapes, scarce grazing grounds, and severe weather patterns have forced the Tolimarans to, over their long history, find a home inside the monolithic peaks that cover the island nation.
Small, sturdy structures sit snugly on the mountain tops, and act as guarded entrances to the much larger dwellings below, burrowed into the center of the rocks. These man-made caverns and pathways often interconnect between residencies and major points of interest.
Due to the largely catastrophic elements which sweep throughout the continent, travel proves much less treacherous through the mountain paths, creating large cultural hubs where they meet.

Togensu - Guild of the East -

Togensu is an oceanic continent located east of Nocturnus and Kaliphlin.  Two great mountain ranges run the length of the continent, and shelter the heartlands from the bulk of the stormy weather off the oceans.  These mountains have also served to isolate the residents of Togensu, who have dwelled there since before Kaliphlin was settled (for a second time.)

Posted Image

History:

This continent has been populated almost as long as Avalonia and Nocturnus.  A small sailing fleet bound for the lands of present day Mitgardia, was blown off course and stumbled upon the bay at the north end of the continent.  They settled the area, and their descendants comprise the Sataka people that inhabit the northern reaches of Togensu.

Although there were other small groups of explorers and sailors, the only other major migration occurred a millenia later.  The ancestors of the Pamibia people lived in the deserts of present-day Kaliphlin and worshipped the gods of the night sky.  When they first encountered Drow, they took them for sacred emissaries and welcomed them in.  The Drow soon began kidnapping whole villages, and this eventually turned into a full scale assault.  The drow were vastly superior in skill of arms and numbers, and the remnants of the Pamibian ancestors fled to the sea.  They followed the signs of their most powerful God - Father Night, leading them east in hopes of finding new lands of their own, and eventually discovered the lands of Togensu.  They eventually settled on the great plateau that one day bear the name they would adopt themselves: Pamibia.

The only other large concentration of people in Togensu are the gnomes that inhabit both the mountain ranges.  Noone knows if the gnomes always lived here, or if they came across the seas, but they have lived here since before the first histories of Togensu were written.

Geography:

Posted Image

Kokando Basin

Nestled in the southern mountains is a great basin that straddles Historica's Equator.  The basin's tropical climate provide the perfect locale for tall palm trees, giant ferns and other plants, which fill the basin floor like a lush carpet.  Time seems to stand still in this prehistoric jungle, and it's rulers have reigned here for millenia.  Great lizards inhabit the basin, and are the dominant life here - humans have never more than sparsely settled these lands.  Some of the jungle tribes even capture the lizards and use these as mounts... at their peril.  Small walled settlements have started springing up along the coast over the last century, but the inhabitants must wage a constant war with the lizards for survival.

Posted Image

Pamibia Plateau

Along the north side of Kokando Basin looms a great cliff over a mile high, that runs between the two mountain ranges.  This cliff marks the beginning of the Pamibia Plateau - a great grassland that cover the middle of the continent.  Great winds scour the plains, and the temperature is significantly lower at the high altitude.  What appears to be a barren grassland is in fact teeming with small mammals and birds, and there is an abundance of rivers and lakes dotting the land.  The Pamibia tribe is spread across the plateau, with great herds of horses and nomadic villages.  There is a short growing season, and the relatively fertile soil and heavy rains have made this the agricultural center of the continent.  Lately, the Pamibia have taken up the merchant trade, with the assistance of the gnomes, who build great cogs to cross the oceans.  This has led to an influx of people from the other guilds, and the capitol city of Ombaho is slowly becoming more cosmopolitan.

Posted Image

Sataka

The two mountain ranges of Togensu meet north of the Pamibia Plateau, and then split again to the northeast and northwest.  The land between these two northern ranges is composed of many foothills and valleys that slope down towards a sheltered bay with pebble beaches and isolated coves. Great evergreen forests blanket the lands, and the cold water of the bay teem with fish and crustaceans. The Sataka villages dot the forests and hills, and many mountain valleys.  The Sataka were some of the earliest residents of Historica, but uniquely have been almost completely isolated for most of their existence.  Their lives are steeped in many ancient traditions and rituals that would seem alien to other Historicans.  They worship the dragons that live in the mountains of Togensu, and believe these creatures to be incarnations of their Gods.  Of late, the Sataka have had regular conatct with the Pamibia and the gnomes which has led to a small crossover of culture and thought.  The most notable export from this exchange has been the adoption of wooden buildings of Sataka architecture by the Pamibia who had relied primarily on tents and earthen structures.

Ruler:

The current ruler of Togensu is Embora Dahl, Queen of the Pamibia, Brightstar of the East.  She has held power for the past 16 years, the last ruler being Kosado of the Sataka, who ruled until his death.  Embora Dahl was the royal daughter of Ramo Dahl, the former Brightstar of the East.  Embora spent her adolescence at sea, aboard the Flagship of the Pamibia merchant fleet - Dark Moon.  The Dark Moon was attacked by pirates out of Nocturnus, and when the captain was slain, Embora rallied the crew to beat down the pirates and capture their ship.  Unbeknownst to her father, Embora spent a great deal of her time at sea as a privateer of sorts, hunting down the marauders that always skulk off the coasts of Nocturnus.

When Ramo fell ill, Embora sailed for home, but returned days two days after her father had died.  In the wake of his death, one of Ramo's closest advisors launched a coup and took the throne for himself.  By this point, Embora commanded the loyalty of her small fleet, and with the help of the common people, took back her throne.  Three years later, with the passing of Kosado, the throne of Togensu lay vacant, and Embora made a bid.  The Sataka royalty were split between two bitter rivals, and could not muster sufficient support to forestall the loss of the throne.

Since her rise to power, Inter-guild trade has flourished, and there has been a great influx of wealth to Togensu.  The Captitol has been relocated from Imperial City to Ombaho.  Embora has built up the navy and merchant marine, and expanded the military forces, and strengthened them with the Pamibia homeguard.

Posted Image

Standard:

The Togensu standard is blue and black.  The blue signifies the great oceans to all sides, and the black represents the Great Dragon for the Sataka, and Father Night for the Pamibia.

The lands of Togensu are diverse, and this vignette represents the different aspects of it's peoples.

The first tier represents the ruthless fight for the survival that the savage tribes of the basin must endure every day.

The second teir shows how the Pamibia give their Night Gods credit for all they have accomplished in this new land which the Night Father guided them too.

The third layer represents the unique traditions of the Sataka as well as their largely solitary existence as a people.

The fourth tier demonstrates the ingenuity of the Gnomes, and how they can make great leaps forward in technology, but this progress is marred at times by disastrous folly.

The Guild of Nievagros

Posted Image

Story:  Located farther north than most Mitangardians have ever dreamed of travelling, this reclusive group have traditionally stuck to thier seals and polar bears - but now, at last, they have bestirred themselves to show some interest in the rest of Historica - even to the extent of whishing to join.

Guild name:  Nievagros

Guild Location:  Straight up north from Mitanguardia

Capital and Ruler:  Brravstin, Lord Madagon

Unique characteristics: Inhabitants are utterly fearless of any animal.  They can take down polar bears with the greatest ease.  No penguin can outswim them.  They have little to offer in the form of wealth however.

Color Scheme:  Gold and White
(My appologies if that's been done before - I think it has - but I really don't have that many colors to chose from and burgundy and yellow looked too much like mustard and barbecue sause…)

Posted Image (This is also the ruler, but it's the only picture I have with both flags.)

Ruler:  Lord Madagon, ruler of the guild of Nievagros.

Soldiers:

Citizens:

Posted Image

Unique Flavor:  A stone house (actually a bakery) with an rounded entrace. I left the back open to imply the bakery's farther extention.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Wildlife:  Although only the toughest of creatures can survive the Nievagrian winters, many savage creatures flourish here, and the water is home to many amazing animals (always with a good layer of fat on top, of course).

Guild name: Wyndgardiam

Posted Image

Guild Location: Wyndgardiam settlers can be found sailing and living in the seas surrounding the Historica mainland. While the majority of the citizens congregate in the warmer southern waters, some brave souls have set off and formed colonies in the frozen northern waters.

Posted Image

Ruler: Not much is known about the Ruler of Wyndgardiam, Aitheria,  some say she was born from the waters of Historica and sent to rule over this land- others say she simply ran away and sought freedom on the open waters of the sea. Courageous and resourceful, she quickly gained the people’s favor and was chosen to watch over the many varying settlements.

Colors: The guild colors are blue and gold, representing the heavens above and the wide waters that sustain the people of this guild.

Posted Image

Characteristics: Wyndgardiam citizens have been known to have the longest life spans of anyone in Historica due to the amount of fresh seafood they eat each day and the abundant amount of vegetation that is grown on the islands.  There are many varied tribes of people across the waters, ranging from mere humans, to colonies of mer-people, and rogue criminals of all shapes in sizes sailing the waters.

Capitol and Land: Located on an island in the southern sea, the Capitol Kealani, is the largest and most populated area of Wyndgardiam. The gold capped white spirals of the city can be seen for miles, and are reminiscent of the crown of Neptune himself. Due to the tropical climate of the islands, the people rarely go hungry due to the varied island plant life and abundant sea life brought in each day.

Floating raft towns can be found sprinkled around the sea, providing weary sea travelers with amenities not usually found in so far from the mainland. Some rafts have even been outfitted with small plots of land and simple rain collectors to provide fresh fruits and vegetables in the middle of nowhere.

If you travel to the ragged cliffs that dot the Oceanside of Historica, you may run across one of the famous hanging cities filled with Wyndgardiam citizens. Build directly attached to the cliffs and extending into the caverns and caves, these mainland cities provide much needed shelter from long sea voyages, and are the main trading ports for the guild.

Posted Image

Flourishing communities can be found on many of the surrounding islands, and the citizens live a relatively peaceful life far from the mainland. However, there always seem to be some who’s hearts are corrupted and love the chaos of preying on others. Wyndgardiam unfortunately is not totally immune to these souls and unfortunate travelers who stray into the far Eastern sea are often met by unsavory bands of criminals bent on robbing them of everything. Rumors of brutal towns existing on the far islands are often whispered about, but anyone who goes in search of them never return to confirm the tales.

Everyone in Historica has heard stories of the Floating Islands of Terapulau, but few have ever seen them. The islands sail around the great seas of the world, moving to the patterns of fish and weather. Occasionally, one of the islands will loom off the shore of Historica, prompting a flurry of trade, only to then drift away over the horizon.

Creation Myth

The Terapulau islands were originally part of the continent of Historica, on the central eastern coast. Legend has it that the inhabitants build huge cities and monuments of stone, and in doing so, insatiably quarried stone from the hills, leaving large swaths of rubble behind them. In doing so, they awoke the great Snake of the Mountains, who lies under the hills and slumbers protected in his den of solid rock. When the Snake saw the devastation people had wrought, and how they had pillaged his stone, he became very angry. He wrecked their cities and monuments with his massive tail, and then started to eat all the people. The people cried out for protection to the Seahawk god. Seahawk told them he could only protect them by tearing their lands off of Historica, and leaving them to float the oceans forever. And, they must avoid the use of stone in building, so as not to offend the Snake again. They agreed, and with his huge talons, Seahawk ripped the lands free from Historica and cast them into the sea, giving each island one of his feathers so they would float. Thus the Terapulau Islands were created. The land around the Goolag Archipelago on Historica, where the islands were torn off, still has a ragged, torn look.

Posted Image

Geography

The Terapulau consist of nine large islands and several smaller ones. The islands are mostly jungle and tropical savannah, with sandy beaches, mangrove swamps, and low hills. There are no mountains or serious metal ore deposits. What stone there is tends to be a low quality sandstone, not terribly useful for building. The larger islands are estimated to extend several hundred feet below sea level, as they tend to run aground when drifting into shallower waters around Historica. They float due to large quantities of unobtanium in their soils; the same substance that makes certain mountains and islands float in the air.

Posted Image

Here is a map of some of the larger islands. Note that the relative position of the islands to each other on the map is meaningless, as they float around all the time. The brown dotted lines linking one island to another are huge chains that permanently link some islands together.

Peoples

The Kelasituan are a mixed bunch. There is a large human population, as well as two large races of elves, the Jardesi, who live in the jungles, and the Walesi, who are seafaring elves. Additionally, there are various peoples descended from ocean
creatures, such as the Buayan, who are crocodilian in form, and the Manreysi, who resemble humanoid manta rays.

Government

Each island (or set of small islands) is governed separately, by a lord called the Tuantuan. The entire guild is ruled by a leader called the Ratuan, elected by and from the Tuantuans every eight years at the Long Night Festival (winter solstice). Since most of the islands float independently, and each tuantuan can sail their island away, the Ratuan only has limited power over the Tuantuans, and mostly is concerned with settling disputes and managing foreign relations.

Guildmembers on an island elect their tuantuan every four years, but it is not uncommon for a tuantuan to be reelected for decades. Tuantuans are selected from a special class of citizens, called the Tuanrang. Bright, organized children are selected to be part of the Tuanrang, and receive special training. As adults they take on most of the administrative roles.

Posted Image

The current Ratuan is Tukesa Vikassi, shown above flanked by two of her elite guard. She was elected twelve years ago, and has done much to improve relations with the outside world. She is said to be a skillful negotiator, and generally fair, although not one to cross. She comes from a prominent line of shamans, although she herself has shown no magical or prophetic ability.

Economy

Fishing is the mainstay of the Terapulau economy. The islands are in a continual pursuit of the best fishing grounds in the seas, and are sailed in yearly cycle around the oceans. Since the islands are mostly kept in tropical waters, plants grow lushly, although agriculture is mostly limited to fruits and vegetables, with minimal livestock (fowl mostly), although the larger islands grow much rice. Exports consist mostly of dried fish, spices, tea, and fine pottery. There is also a burgeoning trade in the hides of the besargigi, an enormous crocodilian creature found on many of the islands. Imports consist mostly of metal and stone goods, as there is little rock and ore on the islands. Trade with Historica is a bit difficult, as the islands are constantly on the move and thus there cannot be fixed trade routes. However the general pattern of the islands' travel is well known (south in the winter, and north in summer), and a flurry of trade does take place whenever the islands near other land masses. Most trade with the islands is conducted by Kelasituan traders, as only they really know where the islands will be at any particular time.

Religion

The Kelasituan worship a god they call the Navigator, who is said to steer the world and all things in it through the challenging waters of life. Their worship rituals are primarily focused on getting the Navigator's help with steering their islands to the best fishing grounds. Each constellation in their sky is named, as are most of the major stars, and there is a myth associated with each one. Similarly there is a creation myth associated with most of the major species of fish. Good catches are ensured by many festivals involving ritual dancing in which the dancers move together imitating schools of fish.

Recent History

The perennial problem with islands is of course, population growth. Namely, given fixed land area and food resources, how do you prevent population growth in good times from getting out of hand and causing famine? The inhabitants of
Terapulau resorted to more intensive agriculture and better fishing techniques, but eventually began to face overpopulation and famine. The rulers of the islands shifted to a military strategy, focusing on conquering other lands and peoples. When they were successful, they could seize resources to feed their people, as well as demand continuing tribute. When they failed, well, the resulting casualties served to alleviate population pressure.

Thus the kings of Terapulau ruled the waves for a millenium, striking terror into all land-dwellers of the world. In the spring, all Historica prayed for winds out of the north, to prevent the islands from sailing north and launching their yearly raids. Finally, in the eighth year of the Red Dolphin, Historica banded together with several other lands, and launched a huge counter-attack against the islands. After an enormous battle, the islanders' fleet was destroyed and the mighty power of Terapulau broken forever.

Dwarven smiths from Mitgardia labored all summer, chaining the islands together, and mooring them off the south coast of Gorr. The entire population was enslaved, and subsisted as slave fishermen and sailors for twenty years. In the fifth year
of the Slimy Urchin, a huge typhoon broke several of the massive mooring chains. Seizing their opportunity, the islanders rose up in rebellion, cut the remaining chains, and drifted free into raging storm. The Historican fleet set out to chase them, but abandoned the pursuit after losing a third of their ships in the tempest.

The people of Terapulau then renounced their old militaristic royalty, and formed the Guild of the Kelasituan to rule the islands. Returning to fishing and sailing, they focused on the old ways, living in harmony with the sea and the wind. Gradually, trade relations resumed with Historica and other lands, increasing the wealth of the islanders.

Several hundred years ago, in the fourth year of the Warbling Tree Frog, Sultan Warg'altaz launched an invasion force from the Siccus Badlands of Historica, hoping to intercept the Terapulau islands as they drifted northwards in the spring. After several weeks of searching, they found a group of the islands about a thousand miles southwest of Historica. After several hard-fought battles, the invaders conquered six large islands. However, the Kelasituan inhabitants, nearly all of whom are experienced sailors and have boats, sailed away as defeat became inevitable. The invaders were left with an empty land. While proceeding to ransack the islands and enjoy the fruits of their victory, they failed to notice that before they had fled, the Kelasitaun had set the islands' sails on a course for the Polar Current. The islands were swept up in the current, and floated northwards to the Frozen Beyond. The invaders, having no knowledge of how to sail the islands, or even where they were, were lost, tired, hungry, and cold. They abandoned the islands in a panic in a snowstorm, sailing south. The Kelasituan warriors, waiting just over the horizon in their boats, fell on the fleeing invaders and routed them. Only a few survived to reach Historica. Needless to say, Terapulau has not been subject to a serious invasion attempt since.

Note:

I meant to add two more vignettes to this, one showing a typical Kelasituan fishing proa, and another showing typical architecture (wooden, southeast asian / polynesian style). The proa is almost done. But well, I ran out of time. Will hopefully add them sometime next week.

Guild Name: Temukan
Guild Location: Islands of Temukan
Capital: Kaalaman
Ruler: Hapdan Thanc
Unique Characteristics: immune to snakebite, resistant to humid heat, great tea growers and drinkers.
Color Scheme: Gold and Black

Posted Image

The guild of Temukan is a large complex of islands well to the south of Kaliphlin - nobody knows just how far, as it lies beyond the Mashuak gyre (otherwise known as the crooked sea), a fearsome body of water that confounds even the most canny of navigators.

The geography of Temukan is still young, and consists of a still growing mountain range, several grumbling volcanos and many offshore reefs. The fertile lowlands are largely covered by thick jungle and swamps, and the climate is tropical, with distinct wet and dry seasons.

Temukan is home to many races; humans, snake people, jungle demons and others yet undiscovered within the mountains and on outlying islands. Humans are by far the most numerous on the east coast of the main island, while the jungles to the west are dominated by fierce jungle demons. The large south-east island is home to the snake people.

Posted Image

Hapdan Thanc is the hereditary monarch of the Temukan guild, and his banner is black and gold. The Hapdan's have ruled the guild for many generations, although the power of the monarch is now mainly limited to traditional ceremonies, and an oligarchy of powerful nobles runs the guild on a day to day basis. However, the military is still loyal to the crown, and with the discovery of new maps that could lead to a passage to rest of Historica, Thanc sees an opportunity to wrest back control from the nobles.

Posted Image

The military of Temkukan is varied depending on the province. Near the capital of Kaalaman, there is open ground for cavalry. The best pikemen are agreed to come from the south, from the cities of Sungam and Arungan. The best archers and the fastest ships come from the north, in the tea-growing province of Kota.

Posted Image

Society is highly ordered into castes, with nobles wearing highly coloured and decorated clothing, while farmers, trademen and monks wear much more simple and practical clothing.

Posted Image

Among the most facsinating and secretive races on Temukan are the snake people - they are renowned as healers and craftsmen on the main island. Legend has it that a former king was healed by a snake shamen, and since then, the totem of the Hapdans has been the snake in rememberance of that debt. All snakes and serpents are considered as equal to humans, and it is forbidden to harm them. If bitten, it is an easy matter to buy anti-venom (made and sold by the snake people) at the local markets, thus it is extremely rare for anyone to die of snake bite.

Posted Image

But not all races are freindly towards humans - the jungle demons of the western jungles have an insatiable appitite for human flesh, and often appear as huge, misshappen pigs to terrify thier opponents! The province of Kota has the most trouble with them, and suffers raids from time to time.

Posted Image

The royal teahouse in Kaalaman. Tea is a revered beverage in Temukan, and various blends are said to have healing and calming properties. The king himself turned one of his many grand residences in the capital into a teahouse, and it is a popular place for wealthy merchants and nobility to meet.

Posted Image

A monk leaves the teahouse, having had his mind refeshed with a strong cup of mountain tea.

Posted Image

A noble pores over a new map with the captain of the gaurd, while a snake craftsman enjoys a cup of tea in the background.

Posted Image

On his private balcony, Hapdan Thanc meditates on the opportunities presented by the possibility of a reliable passage to the rest of Historica.

The Rimlands

The Rimlands is the caldera of an extinct massive Volcano.  We all know where it is from Gex's map of Historica

Posted Image

The Capital is Stonetown, which sits at the strategic narrowest point on the North East isthmus rim, giving it excellent access to the freshwater lagoon and to the sea.  The inner shores of the lagoon are inhabited by pterodactyls.  The Golems mostly stay in Stonetown, but they also have a wondrous cathedral at Point Brave on the South Eastern Cape.

Posted Image

As for the ruler, well, therein lies a tale.  The Rimland is inhabited by dinosaurs, golems and humans.  The dinosaurs are led by King Rex, and the golems by President Dorfl.  The human power stucture is complicated - the Religious Leader is Shaman Bell, the Military Leader is Commander Blade, and the Civic Leader is Iago Sahkranavit.

The unique characteristic of the Rimlander humans is their harmony with nature.  They can communicate with and command plants, rocks, birds and animals (but not fish).  Their ancestors used this power to set the golem people free of the rock.  They use it to charm living trees into the shape of houses, and Iago uses this to cement his alliance with the dinosaur people.

The colour scheme of the Rimlands is yellow and blue.

Citizens of the Rimlands

Here we see Commander Blade with Mrs Leonara Blade, and Mrs Josephine Bell with Shaman Bell taking a stroll on the shore.

Posted Image
Here we have President Dorfl, Iago Sahkranavit together with King Rex and Narven Thomas together with Duke Repton.  Iago is an orphan who was raised by dinosaurs and who has used his intimate knowledge of their society to build tight bonds between the human and dinosaur people.  Narven Thomas is his right hand man, an enthusiastic and boisterous youth who knows the back country villages well.  King Rex uses his friendship with Iago to secure a plentiful supply of giant prehistoric fish from the lagoon for the dinosaurs.  The humans are happy to catch them in their nets, and being served fresh fish sure beats hunting pigs.  He and his right hand man Duke Repton are using this particular expedition to learn more about the golems' relationship with humans.  The dinosaur people and the golems don't really have a strong relationship, and King Rex is curious to learn more about the human power over the sleepless stone men.

Stonetown is a gorgeous mix of stone and forest.  As a Religious Traditionalist and the guardian of the secrets of natural communion, Shaman Bell is a bit old fashioned.  His home is in a leafy suburb, and wholly made of trees, but has only a bare earth floor for his ceremonies, and cooking pot of Secret Potion.  Is it this potion that gives the humans their fantastic powers?  He's certainly not telling.

robuko,

Due to your circumstance I'll allow the entree. Keep in mind that I'm only making the exception because of what we talked about.   You've been added to the list.

SoT - I know it probably won't count, but today is the first day I got my internet at home back since Tuesday night, so I updated the pictures in my Guild file and put in the vignette. I know it is late, and probably won't count but I wanted to prove I had actually finished something finally. If it makes it any better, I actually did finish this on the 20th!

Your guild Pennamore is already included in the list as you were the 16th person to enter and were way ahead of deadline. If you mean you want to add different pictures to it, go ahead.

(I'm tempted to say, Mikey, I predict you will win. . . but anyways,) Would the guild leaders mind giving us the names of a few runner-ups when the post the winner again? (More specificaly, would you mind telling me how close far I was?)

We lost the Victory declared post!  Oh noz!

MikeyB was the victory.

Sirens was the ultimate decider so only he can speak to the closeness, but there WAS disagreement between the guild leaders as to who's was best.  There were several others in contention.

There were so many good entries I am surprised that I won, but I am grateful mine was chosen.  Not just because of the great prize but because I have some great ideas for builds that I wanted to start on!

I mentioned it before the crash  but I want to start  a community build or a small contest to help build up the new guild. Don't expect it until the Challenge V starts to wind down though but  I will post some details later once I know exactly what is expected of me as guild leader.

I am not surprised at all seeings how I liked yours best!

In my personal top three- I also thought Gabe and Torgar's entries were really awesome, and had some of the strongest builds, but I think they were hurt a little by the similarity to other entries or existing factions.  If either of them would have won, I would have been equally pleased.

I also realy like Ecc's (great work with the figures), soccerkid's (well thought out story) and Legonardo's (great artwork!) entries too.  I am glad I wasn't the final judge since there were so many strong entries!

Indeed! Judging this contest would have been quite difficult.
I also thought Gabe and Torgar's builds were very strong and that Ecclesiastes would rank high.

Congrats to Mickey, again!
A surprising victory indeed!

There was a lot of good entries, I liked Gabe's, Torgar's and Legonardo's builds the most.
And Jason Cicchini's build and idea had so much charm that it really won me over, with mountain dwellers and domesticated spiders :D
(I would've probably voted for this guild)

That being said Mikael Kalores's idea was (IMHO) the best.
Angeli had a neat idea as well, but I guess he was disqulified...?

I also would like to know which other entries the Guild Leaders were considering, it's always nice to see who was in contention.

Also, I had thought this was less of a build-focused contest (40-50%) but from what Z's saying, it sounds like this was in fact more build oriented? - or is that just Z's favorites?

Those were just MY favorites.  Build was not #1 or else Torgar or Gabe would have been tough to beat, but I thought those entries ALSO had strong stories and fit in well with Historica.  I am not privy to SoT's scores, but I know he did use story and theme idea heavily in his consideration.

I think one thing that hurt entries like Gabe's and yours, Rogue, was there were several entries with an Orient type look.  I don't know if he will release the scores or not, but it never hurts to ask!
