I've posted a MOC on LEGO Cuusoo that I'd love to get feedback on.  (And possible support if people like it, of course!)

It's an 18-stud diameter studs-up plate sphere of the Death Star II, with an integrated clock movement.  Move views are posted on the Cuusoo page.  Thanks!

Now THAT is an awesome idea and build! I wonder if there would be a way to add the 12, 3, 6, and 9 by using TIE fighters as the markers.

Originally, when I conceived the idea, I thought to replace the clock arms with technic axles and attach a micro-scale X-wing to one and a micro-TIE to the other.  This way, they would chase each other around.  I never tried it, as I thought the weight might interfere with the clock movement.

Thanks for your comment!

What a fun idea to make a clock like this! And the model itself is very nicely done, i really like it!

I think using technic axles as clock arms is a great idea, it would make the clock even more LEGO-fied. But i'm not sure if adding more microscale models is a good idea. Even if you managed to make them really REALLY small, i think they would be a distraction from the awesome Death Star model.

What about light sabers for the clock hands?

Very clever.  I like it.  Although I'm more of a fan of the Original Trilogy, Darth Maul's double-length lightsaber might work well for the minute hand.

To everyone in this thread, if you like the model, please consider clicking "Support" on the Cuusoo page.  I'd greatly appreciate it!

Great MOC, the only thing I don't really like are the clock-hands.

Why not instead of going bigger, go smaller and use the small light saber blades from the CMF lasers?

In my opinion X-Wings are good for Roman Xs (5).

I already commented on this at Rebelscum, but I just wanted to make sure folks here at EB check the links. He didn't post as many pics in this thread and there a couple of nice surprises in the back. I can't say enough good about this MOC. It is the most creative, best executed idea I've seen.

Hi,

I think your idea is ingenious and well modelled.  Nice work; I like it :-)

I realise that this is probably impossible, but it occurred to me that it'd look cool if the clock hands were emanating from the laser cannon, as though the Death Star was firing / scattering golden beams of death ;-)

cheers,
John

Nice work WWWally. The clock idea is awesome and the build is marvellous. I would love to see some other details on there like peoples ideas with the numbers and clock hands.

The only thing that I think brings it down for me is the non-Lego clock hands, being entirely made out of Lego would be great.

Good luck with the Cuusoo project.

Lovely functional clock MOC! I guess I'm in the minority here, but I really don't think it needs LEGO hands. You might pull it off well, but just in my head I can picture Lightsaber hands or the like a little too loud and thus not a good fit with the excellent Death Star model. I look forward to seeing what you come up with if you decide to add LEGO hands, though.

This looks great! The Death Star is a nice MOC in itself, and the clock function is a great extra. I think that the only problem with this is that the clock-hands are not thick enough. I agree with the others saying that you should use lightsaber bars, both the 4 and 3 studs long.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the project, and for those who haven't (yet!), what are you waiting for?!    Thanks to everyone!

BTW, does anyone have any insight on what it would take to get this news listed on Eurobricks' front page.  I certainly could use all the help I can get!
