Hello, Eurobricks Members! Today I want to present to you my new review!

This set was used when I got it, but it is in a very good condition, and has instruction. Sorry, I haven't the box.

Theme:  Harry Potter
Subtheme: Philospher's Stone
Year: released 2001
Pieces: 163
Minifigs: 3
RRP: £16.99 / US$20

Instruction:
It has very beautiful decor such as every manuals from 2001-2003.

Posted Image

There is advertising of the game on the other side of the instruction.

Posted Image

There are surprises waiting for you inside the manual, or rather on its last pages. One of them is some small game sketches.
Another surprise is alternative models. I will show only one of them.

Posted Image

Posted Image

The last page shows how all the sets released in 2001 are connected.

Posted Image

Completed set:
This set is very nice, in the spirit of good old Harry Potter

Minifigures:
Peeves, Ron Weasley and Professor Snape. Peeves is a poltergeist of the Hogwarts Castle, Ron Weasley is Harry Potter's best friend, and Severus Snape is Potions teacher.

Posted Image

They don't have prints on the back sides.

Evolution of the figures:

Posted Image

The Professor‘s head can glow in the dark.

Posted Image

Accessories:

Posted Image

The main part of a set is Snape's office. It consists of two parts, flexibly connected to each other.

Posted Image

The first part is the main one. There are shelves with potions, a table and a book stand.

Posted Image

Secrets :classic: :

The first has already been shown at the beginning of the review...

Posted Image

Posted Image

The second secret is an "opening" table.

Posted Image

The last secret is a manuscript under the pot with potion.

Posted Image

As you can see, all the functions are very simple.

Posted Image

The reverse side of the set:

Well, the latest feature is the opening door

RESULTS:

Advantages:
The minifigures are super.
The building is very beautiful and interesting.
Disadvantages:
It is really difficult to find it if you want to buy it.

Great review - very nice pictures.

This was before my time collecting HP sets and it's really amazing how far the line has come. It's alot like looking at the old Star Wars sets. Ron is almost unrecognizable and Snape just barely, Peeves almost looks like an angry statue.
I used to be a Lego Maniac, then I took a 1x4 brick in the knee.

Nice review, 'BaraSH'! :classic:
I'm actually amazed I don't have this set. I have most of the original Harry Potter sets, as my mom use to get them for me and my brother. I really like Peeves in this set.

I agree! But he looks great, I think.

That is definitely a blast from the past, but I can definitely see some uses for a lot of the pieces. I am still not quite sure they had Snape glow in the dark though.

Well done ! Your review is very interesting (even if I disagree about the "very beautifull building", n°4705 is lacking of details according to my opinion). To compare the evolution of the minifigures was such a great idea !
Good work.

I agree with an above poster, it's amazing to see how far the theme has come when you compare the old sets to the new ones. Makes you wonder if we'll be looking back at reviews of Helm's Deep or the Mines of Moria in ten years time and saying the same thing.

These were out before both my love of LEGO and Harry Potter. I've managed to secure a few of them like the Forbidden Corridor. From looking at the sets online, they appear quite same-y though they have a lot of charm to them. I guess they had to be similar given that they appear to be designed to be somewhat modular. I really like the inclusion of Peeves; given that the vast majority of HP sets were based on the films rather than the books, it's nice to see something derived from the books. I'm similarly fond of the inclusion of the flute that's used to lull Fluffy to sleep in the Forbidden Corridor set.

Great review, I still have this set on display with the rest of my Harry Potter sets.
I specially like how all 2001/2002 Harry Potter sets were able to connect forming one big scene. Now only few sets are such as Helm's Deep.
