Hello
My name is Steve and I have been rendering some animations in povray for a few years now.
Here is my latest test animation.  I can change the steering input and acceleration throughout the animation and make the car go where I want.  Then make a gif out of it.  I will try another one soon with a lego car instead.

Nice! Have you seen Blakbird's GIF animations of various Lego Technic sets?  His Brickshelf gallery is full of them (for his Technicopedia website), and he uses POVray too:
