Eric eyed the Wolfboy's claws. He grinned and shouted "I'll rip those claws right out of your stinking paws, rabbid dog!"

Eric attacks Wolfboy from the front row, using Godricsleif.

Maurice tries to heal Tesni but slips on some wet grass and falls flat. Tesni is so frustrated with the ambush that she lets out a mighty War Cry to encourage the party to take these creatures out quickly. The Snake Charmer smashes Namyrra with his staff before she can get her spell off, but in the confusion Eric manages to steal another 20 gold from the little Wolfboy. Unphased by the bump forming on her head, Namyrra changes to target to the Reptilian Mage and summons her Daemon to take him out.

Xut takes the wolfboy out in one quick swipe of black wings. Maurice finally manages to heal Tesni while the Snake Charmer chants and brings a new snake in to attack the heroes. It appears the healing was just in time as Tesni takes damage from the Snake charmer's staff. Eric, unhappy with the amount of gold wrought so far, steals another 20 from the Snake Charmer while Namyrra drinks a potion to ready herself for the next round.

Xut swipes at the Snake Charmer with it's mighty wings, the powers of darkness sending waves of pain through him. Maurice stabs the red snake with his new staff, pinning it to the ground for an instant before it stops moving. Namyrra fires a darkness spell at the Snake Charmer and as it flies into him, she could swear she hears him scream "NOOoooooo.." before he falls.

The staff used by the Snake Charmer doesn't seem to call forth any snakes as one might have hoped. It does, however, pack quite a punch as Tesni could attest to.

Bone Claws
The only thing left of the Wolfboy, the Bone Claws seem as though they could  fit on the wrist and add some protection as well as being used as a weapon.

"Well, I already have both an amethyst and an emerald, so I'd love to get that snake staff if possible?

"Apart from that I guess the darkness of the amethyst will be too much for our dear holier-than-thou cleric, and Eric can't use the emerald staff anyway, so perhaps Maurice can take the staff and Eric gets the amethyst, if that's okay with you Eric? You could probably sell that amethyst for a nice amount of money back at the Hall, seems amethysts are in short supply and high demand."

Eric twirled a gold coin between his fingers. He grinned "I just keep on getting better and better at this". He then pocketed the coin, along with the many others he had gained.

The Raider jealousely eyed the Bone Claws as Tesni out them on. His face turned somewhat sour. He was mesmerized by the weapons, but his fascination quickly grinded to a halt as Namyrra called out to him. She offered him the Amethyst as his cut of the loot. Begrudgingly, the Nord accepted. He glanced back at the claws and then forced his gaze upon the amethyst again. "Stupid shiny rock..." he muttered.

It was a powerful weapon, no doubt about it. He had heard stories about its effectiveness in battle. Eric had even heard more discerning stories, tales or maybe they were just rumours about the gem's corrupting nature. Sometimes, it seemed to bring up the worst in battle. Eric, however, didn't seem to notice any changes or effects taking place. Maybe his heart was just too embittered already.

"At least it'll fetch a nice price if I can't find any use for it..."

"Try binding it to a weapon Eric, I find mine very useful." Tesni grinned and sheathed Cysgodion. "Well, onwards, oour final box awaits!"

It felt like they had been in the forest for an age... Grumbling, Tesni waded through the thick foliage.

[Darkdragon]

After an eventful but never-the-less restful night in the forest, the party finally heads back out to the road as the sun rises. They follow the overgrown road for hours until finally they come to small village. A sign at the front gate to the town reads "Havelstam" and the party heads in.  

All of the buildings are old, run down, and appear to be locked or boarded up. It's hard to tell at a glance what might be happening behind the closed doors, but the occasional flickering light or chimney smoke reveals that there is life happening inside.

Tesni unrolls the parchment once more to refresh her memory on their destination.

Johan Smith
Sweetly Fed & Slept
Havelstam, Mistaria

She stops to look around and sees a large building with a dirty sign hanging out front. "Sweetly Fed & Slept" is what the sign states, but looking upon the dirty windows and musty smells emanating from the building, she has her doubts about it. Unabashed at the sight of the inn, she leads the party inside to locate this Johan Smith and procure the final box.

How will the party proceed?

"Hey there mr barkeep, would you happen to know who a mr Johan Smith is? And where we can find him? Or could you at least point us to someone who might know?"

[Darkdragon]

Namyrra approaches the bar and the old man stops wiping out a dirty mug and sets it up on the shelf with the other "clean" things before looking at her.

"What? Who? Never heard of such a person. I'm busy making the food and pouring the drinks, not poking my nose into customer's business. Maybe my wife can help ye."

He puts his hands down on the counter, takes in a deep breath and yells.

"BETSY!! Get over here and help these people!", looking back to Namyrra he speaks in a normal volume again. "Now can I get ye a drink or what?"

A woman comes over to the counter, setting her broom against the bar she looks at the barkeep.

"Really, Angus, was the yelling necessary? I was right over there, you could SEE me couldn't you?" She rolls her eyes at her husband before she looks over at Namyrra. "How can I help you, miss?"

[Quarryman]

"Well mrs, we're looking for a guy named Johan Smith, any idea who that is? Or could you perhaps point us to someone who might know?"

[Darkdragon]

"That name doesn't sound familiar, but of course most of our patrons don't want to go around here blabbing their family names around. There are a few guys here right now that have been hanging around a while. That man in the black cap, he has been coming in every night for a week, but that's to be expected from someone who is staying at the inn. He usually finds a table with a bottle of something already ordered and sits down. "

She looks around at the customers.

"Oh and the man with the white hair, quiet fellow that one. He's been coming in for the past few nights and sitting alone quietly. He always orders food and drink, and he is staying here at the inn."

Tesni listened and then looked over the pair, "We'll speak to the white haired one. He is sat alone and we are less likely to cause a scene with a single patron."

[Darkdragon]

The party walks over and to the table and stands around staring at the white haired man. After a while he sets his drink down and looks at them.

"Yeah, what do you people want? Why are you all staring at me? Is my trouser front is open?"

"Oh, we were just looking for someone, we've not met him before and he isn't a regular, I was wondering if you knew a Johan."

[Darkdragon]

He looks around, eyes the party suspiciously.

"I might know him. Then again, I might not. Who's asking, who sent you?"

"Just a merchant over in Eubric, we've been running errands. Not heroic but gets us out of the hall eh!"

[Darkdragon]

"Eubric, you say? Well I might just have what you are looking for. Not here though."

He looks around again at the other patrons, then downs the rest of his drink. Setting the mug on his table he stands up.

"If you'll follow me?"

[Quarryman]

"Ok, we'll follow you."

Tesni checked Cysgodion in it's sheath, to go follow a stranger was a risk that was mitigated by the blade and Namyrra's magic.

The man leads the party up the stairs into the inn. He stops halfway down a musty hallway and unlocks a door. Opening it, he reveals he is leading them to a small room. It seems tidy enough but there is an overall lack of comfort and safety in the room, it smells slightly of wood rot and the bars on the window do nothing to easy the mind.

"No need to be so nervous, I'm a businessman not a scoundrel." He chuckles before poking his head out the door and closing it tightly. "I just try to keep my business a little quiet, never know who's listening around here. I trust you have the required paperwork?"

Tesni calmly removed the final receipt but held it firm. "I'm sure that you'll know who sent us. Could you just confirm the name of or employer? You see, in this business it pays to be careful. I'm sure you understand..."
