"Very well, Mario will lead you to the cells now. If you think of any more questions, come see me on your way out."

The moustached guard once again leads the party through the halls of the building. At the end of another hallway, he opens two heavy wooden doors. These doors reveal stairs leading down. Mario salutes the party, and walks back through the hallway he came from.

Downstairs, the party can see the cells, guarded by a couple of guards. several figures can be made out in the darkness of the cells.

Another guard, holding a key, holds the party.


"Aww Right. You are the fancy pants from Heroica, aren't ya? Awwrighty, here is the deal. These fellows are dangerous, and you , fancypants, are going to go in there with them. We can't be having them crooks causing any trouble, so we are going to need to take all your weapons, for safety reasons. I promise ya will get them back safe and sound when you return. I will lock the door behind you, knock on the bars when you are done. Oh, and before I forget, my shift ends in a bit, so you will only have time to talk to four of the prisoners. How do I know that? I am doing this long enough, fancypants"

[Pandora]

"Please Mr guard, do take good care of my pretty pink Dawnstar, and mind the pointy bits as they're razor sharp.   "

"Dear friends, and.. uhm.. chicken, shall we discuss with whom we'd like to speak before speaking to them?  (Obviously that'll be once we can see who they are.)  There might only be four prisoners in there, but I doubt it and I'm worried that the wrong word may just anger the prisoners. "

Atramor grumbles his discontent as he hands over his shiny new dagger.

"Alright. Who do we have 'ere, and why? Gonna need the run down on who we've got."

Rufindel hands over his staff with a look of such Elven disapproval to make Elrond proud.

I can see a guy in a rival guard uniform, some dark-clothed dude, a skellington and a ... lizard.   Yes, Atramor, I think we're going to need to know who is in there.

After the party hand over their weapons, the guard puts them in a chest. He then opens the prison door, while the two guards with spears are ready. After the party walks in, he closes, and locks the door. With a slight nod, the man walks off again. Inside, it is mostly quiet, the two men in blue are talking to each other quietly, and the man with the ridiculous hat is talking to himself. The skeleton is walking in circles. The rest of the prisoners are either sitting, or standing against the wall. The cell is empty, there are no benches or bunks.



What does the party want to do?

Cronk vote that party talk to Lizard man or fellow orc.  But Cronk will defer to Nyx's judgment.

Rufindel wonders which one is the ridiculous hat.

I agree, Cronk.  If you might get something from the Orc, I might get somewhere talking to the Elf.

"Those four seem to cover everyone's choices (I think Rufindel meant the blonde elf with the obvious elvish ears), and there doesn't seem to be any dissent, so I guess these are the prisoners we would like to talk to within the allotted time."

An idea hits Atramor, and he whispers low to the party.

"You think we can play prisoners? Might help our case if they don't know we're 'ere actually lookin' for answers."

"I believe Cronky is our most diplomatic group member, and he is very friendly, so perhaps Cronk could start off questioning his kinsman, the Orc?  

When we see how that goes, perhaps he could continue the questioning of the gentlemen in blue, the skeleton and then the seeming Wolfgang member?  That is unless the rest of the group feel that the gentlemen in blue may respond better to Rufindel?  Or would prefer a different order?  

Oh, let's just go with this plan for now, this cell smells awful, and goodness knows what I'm standing in."

Greetings, fellow Orc.  Cronk is Cronk.  What is fellow Orc's name?  Cronk was hoping fellow Orc could help Cronk with something.  Cronk and friends trying to figure out what happened to guards that are disappearing.  Does fellow Orc know anything about that?

Cronk is from Goblonia far away.  That lot of guards.  Why did Grandogsh do such thing?  

Has Grandogsh heard anything about guard disappearance?

"It not very good tale, but I tell anyway, since you ask nicely. Steelaxe-clan strong, Clan kill dragons, mine ores, make weapons. Then Beast-men attack village. Lots of Orcs dead. But I live. By honor code I failed as Chief, so I leave. I go across big water and come here. I minding own business when old angry drunk man say I start war and defile god. I no such thing. But he call guards anyway. Rage of battle come over eyes and I kill guards. I not know about disappearances, prisoners not talk with I, especially blue men."

"Puny human, maybe I not simple but you just too dumb to understand Orcish complexity. Old angry drunk man just old angry drunk man, wearing funny helmet, loud voice, silly beard. Before you go. I have favor to ask... Guards take helmet when I bring here. Helmet is for strong warriors. Guards are not strong warriors. You are more strong than guards, not strong as I, but still strong. I want you take helmet, guards put in chest, outside steel bars."

"We'll put it to good use. If I see the angry drunk man I'll give him a good stab for 'ya."

How did old man say Grandogsh did to defile gods?  And where this happen?

Cronk think blue men good as any place to go next but Cronk think Rufindel do better questioning if blue men not like Orcs.

"Bah, man just Paladin-man, like blue men. We had Paladin-men come to village, we let them leave alive, but with no pants, good joke. One day, Paladin-man with robe, we not sure what to do. Anyway, I not see relevance, don't Cronk and clan have job to do? Just remember take my helmet before go."

I am Rufindel Galadhras, Cleric of Eresseä.  What are you called?  My comrades and I hope you would be gracious enough to help us with a problem.  We are trying to discover what happened to a number of City guards that have disappeared in the Harbour District.  Would you happen to have heard anything that may help us?

"Yeah, maybe you're right. If I find out you talked about my mother, I will Smite you."

No, I said nothing about your mother, Jacob!    I merely said, 'Hail, friends!  A pleasure meeting you.  A star shall shine on the hour of our meeting.'  A bit  over the top, perhaps, but we Elves are always polite.

I merely hoped you might be able to help us discover what happened to a number of City Guards who have disappeared from the Harbour District recently.  I thought perhaps you two might have heard something that could assist us?
