At LEGOWorld Copenhagen 2012 I was lucky to get elected to exhibit a LEGO-MOC. I have worked on this scene almost 1 year, started march 2011, and have worked around 300 hours on the layout. I chose Tatooine from Star Wars A New Hope. I Have tried to make a MOC that is not very large but with high quality. I have worked a lot on the buildings using different building-techniks, made moving features, light is installed in all buildings, the hole layout is covered with tiles, and the most important thing have been the "flying" landspeeder, where I used 9 V train-tracks, with 26 train-wagons covered with tiles, covering the hole track, so that it is not visible for the spectators. The layout is 96 x 240 studs, using around 30.000 bricks, including 7000 tiles. On the mountain is Tusken Raiders and a Bantha (inspired by Baronsats version). Over the layout is the two caracteristic suns, brick-build tiled spheres, orange and yellow. It has been very interesting to work on this layout, and it was so cool to show it to around 37000 visitors at LEGOWorld 2012.

That's a neat idea for the flying landspeeders - sounds like a lot of work to get it to go, and I have no idea how you got it to be stable with what I presume is a full circuit loop of train wagons? Would have thought the inside g-force would make it derail underneath all the time (unless the coverage of tiles on top is wide enough to hold it in place?) Either way I'd love to see that in action, and would be really interested in some shots that show how it all works underneath.

That is a moc at an epic scale, so from what I can tell from the itty bitty pictures is it's a mish mash of several scenes/places in one build, sorry can't really see much from the small pictures other than the rear ends of some dewbacks, links to bigger pictures would be great, nice work on what is my favorite planet theme

This is a great MOC! My favorite "room" is the one with the old podracers.

This looks interesting, but hard to tell from the tiny pics. Can we get a link to the hi res pics?

It looks like the landspeeders go around the centre building on some sort of spinning disc under the display, right? I cant tell from the small pics. Also is there a video?

I'll add my voice to the call for bigger pictures.  This looks amazing but so tiny!

Thanks for the comments.
I have put the pictures in my brickshelf account and placed a link, and i have made 2 small movies and put on youtube, se link on the first post. One movie shows the MOC with the moving parts etc. The other movie shows the loop of train-wagons, covering the hole train-track, so that it is not possible to see anything but tan tiles. When you have a loop of wagons, the G-force is no problem, since the loop can“t chage its lenght, and that is what keeps it from falling of the track. I have three 9 V motors pulling the ting, they had a hard time keeping the land-speeder flying for 7 hours a day for 4 days i a row!

Please give me your comments.

Thanks for the links, can see clearly now what's going on, it's amazing you went through all that trouble for the moving speeder, it's definitely a very nice feature of this build

That is a very imppressive build.  Congratulations on being able to display it.  The flying landspeeder is very well done

Incredible work, Morten. The bantha looks great, and the landspeeder train is very well integrated. You've done a great job of compacting a bunch of iconic scenes into this (relatively, compared to other Tatooine dioramas) smaller diorama.

Wow!  Awesome representation of my favorite planet in the SW galaxy.  I'm sure it's even more impressive in person.
Never tell me the odds!

Very very nice.  The speeder was definitely unexpected but very cool!
