Quick update, i made a new gearbox for some of the functions, the last one was not wide enough for the shafts to merge with the inside of the turntable.(driving rings)

Two gearboxes down one to go but that goes on the upper part.:sing:

Looks great so far! It's hard to see in the pics, have you included the planetary gear reduction in the turntables/wheel hubs?

Yes but do you have any gear reduction? You are supposed to have a 1:4 gear reduction.

Alasdair, your project is looking good! Nice and complex!

Your planetary hub design is very compact. And, yes, the turntable is pointed in the correct direction for gear reduction (I just double-checked the planetary gears on my backhoe and forwarder).

Nice work so far!

Well I thought you may want a small update,I have redesigned the whole model.

There is two separate gearboxes on the lower part one for the drive, legs, power to the steering as well as to power the boom functions.

The other gearbox is to select the steering functions.

In the picture below you can see the general layout.

I dare say it while be a while again to the next update....

Yes it is,but that is one of the main reasons why I prefer building machinery over something like a car or a 4x4.

But this model is nowhere near as complex as what my other moc up the road.
