Here are some photos of my latest work in progress. Ship Calypso of Capt. Jacques Cousteau. It is in a 1:40 scale which makes the final Moc around 1.05 m long.

I have used around 8500 bricks when it is finished. Still a lot of work to do.

The front half is all most done. All there is left to do is detail work like handrails and some bricks to close the wheelhouse. I am now starting with the other half of the ship

Actually there aren't that many tiles in the ship. Only the black of the hull, the dark red hatch and the top of the deck of the wheelhouse are tiles. the rest is all bricks and plates. the tan decks consists out of plates 1 x X on their side.

Now it's a matter of trying to get a hold of 500 tan platex 1 x 8 for not to much money. I need them for the two decks.

It's incredible -- my only suggestion would be to break scale a little bit on the bridge and make it large enough for a minifig to stand inside.

There is allready enough space for a minifig to stand inside the bridge. Where ever there is a door a minifig can stand inside. Everthing is at least 6 bricks high. But I still need to build an interior for the bridge though.

Outstanding work so far... has that real-life adventure look to it, and love how dedicated you have been to accuracy. Wonder if you've been listening to the John Denver song as you build it? Haha

This is looking fantastic. I was lucky enough to see Calypso in Halifax Harbour when I was a kid and your build looks really accurate.

Arrrghh!! You're just so incredibly good at this - I don't know anybody who builds better boats than you do. It's absolutely stunning - I wouldn't change a single thing, except perhaps add a French flag.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and drool over those Flickr pictures :)

Fantastic! I am a huge fan of your work, and this is really really an awesome ship, perhaps one of the most accurate I have ever seen built in Lego. The hull is very ingenious, as are all the stunning details. I could look at this for hours (and will certainly do).
