Considering that it is already confirmed that the packets for Series 8 will be black, is it really productive to be talking about the colours of the packets?

Exactly.  :hmpf:

Nothing else for people to discuss. Nothing is known about series 8 outside of color and if someone posts asking about the future of the series(I am NOT going to start that debate) it's just going to turn ugly fast.

It's strange... we've gotten spoiled with having advance glimpses of the upcoming series.  It almost feels strange to have 7 out and not have seen 8 yet.  I know we had no clue of the 'next series' when Series 1 and 2 were released.  At what point did the leaked images overtake the release of its predecessor?
The only time that happened was when Series 6 and Series 7 images were released at the same time. I wouldn't mind if that were to happen again.

I'm actually kind of relieved. I just about had the last Series 6 in my hands before Series 7 was being unloaded on the shelves.

It's definitely the longest wait we've had for images between series, I'm hoping that it's a sign that they're slowing down the releases.

Estimated release day is sometime in September last time i checked brickapedia. That'll mean that we're looking at only about 4 months max until the series is released if the day is true.

I'm going to go way out on a limb and assume Series 8 has at least one minifigure riding some sort of sports board (snowboard, skateboard, surfboard, skis).

Actually, I'd really like that - especially another skier, since the S2 one is the only skier we've gotten so far on the new skis, in this theme or any other (though I understand it'll also turn up in the Friends Advent Calendar). It's definitely time for another skier, especially given that the last one had a number on him, making him clearly a specific, unique individual, and not really great as a crowd filler / army builder. But new skaters, snowboarders and surfers are welcome too, as long as they keep doing nifty new prints on not only the torsos and faces but the boards as well...

Either that, or that Series 7 just came out ahead of the normal schedule, which would also explain the unusually short period between 6 and 7.

(I'm in agreement with you on that one. It really seems like S6 hasn't been out quite long enough, and all of a sudden we've got S7. I'm still trying to get all the S6 things I want!).

Isn't it comfirmed 16 series?

No, unless you know something that we don't.

Indeed, though I do think it's a safe assumption that TLG is going to keep doing these as long as they continue to sell well (in other words, they'll almost certainly keep doing them for many more series to come).

Well, I don't know about as far as 16, but I did have number 9 confirmed.

On the other hand, I would like them to release one series per month. At the end, you do not have to buy them, andI can not see a reason why they should slow down...

Saying the set will include a sports figureis an educated guess - not proof of insider knowledge.

He may know this, he may not. But it doesn't really take much guessing any more to figure out that there is going to be sports figures in this or any minifigure series. Of course, there may not be, but, alas, we don't know.

My brother has a friend who saw a picture of someone who had a dog that belonged to a person who used to be a roommate of a former Lego employee so I know what the next 14 series are going to be.

Series 8 is going to have sports figures as was said earlier. Also there will be historical figures. Some will be male and some will be female. There will be 16 of them total in blind packaging and they will come in boxes of 60. Each figure will come with it's own stand and a foldout displaying the entire collection. Please keep this information between us here on the EB forums. I don't want anybody getting in trouble for this.

I pretty much disregard information in these forums unless it is actual pictures of the series (and I haven't seen a fake series that fooled me for more than a second), or the information is coming from someone with a proven record for actually knowing about these things.

Oh and mo123567, don't forget about the City figures.
Eh.

I agree with this completely. Until some images or confirmation from someone who has a track record of figuring these kind of things out comes forward and tells us what they know, I am not willing to believe anyone who says they know.

Here's what I demand:

PROOF!

And don't forget we might get female counterparts of figures of previous series.

I'll admit, though, that I'm surprised about how early in 2011 we saw pics of series 5, compared to series 8 in this year. Hope it's worth the wait.  :sweet:

There's no evidence of that many more. My opinion is that it won't last much longer.

Indeed, although he was more specific than simply saying there'll be sports figures; he (she?) said there'd be sports, but not skaters, skiers, snowboarders or surfers.

We'll find out soon enough, of course.

Based on what? I know the later series have stayed in stores a lot longer than the first two, but as far as I can tell they're still very strong sellers overall. Do you know something I don't?

This thread is going off-topic.  Please use the 'Future Series Rumours' thread to discuss how many more series LEGO will produce etc.

People check this thread for Series 8 news, so let's keep it to that.  Thanks!

This sounds like all the other 7 series. You got anything new information?

His post was sarcastic, making fun of those claiming to know what's in Series 8 and yet releasing no other info - hence the generalizations to make his point.  Quite obviously a snarky, yet effective (evidently) post.

In other words, yes, the post was meant to sound just like the previous 7 Series - that was the entire point.

Perhaps we need a whole new topic to speculate on future, unannounced CMF releases... unless there is one already.

I'm starting to think we could use a whole new theme forum for the collectible Minifigures, actually. They arguably get enough discussion to warrant splitting them off from "Special Themes" into their own area...
