Historica - City Guide

Recommended Posts

South Eastern Mitgardia?! That's where my port city of Hykerbia lies along the major sea and land trade route into Nocturnus and Kaliphin via the Eastern tradeways.

Hykerbia welcomes all guilds , peoples and travellers to set up embassies and trade posts. Speak friend and you may enter our great walls, our planners will find a convenient spot and you can build your embassies anywhere in the trader's sector. Our climate is temperate with a sea port view on your porch, snow cap mountain in your backyard and expansive farmland just outside the walls. The city is a mix of old historical medieval style of wood, rock and mortar, Nordic and Dwarvish homesteads and a rapidly growing urbanised Victorian style with glass and bricks. In fact we welcome all architectural styles, the only law being that no building may be taller than 30 brick heights or 4 minifig storeys, because the Ranger's Towers and Priestess's Temple in my city are customary important to stand over the rest of the buildings ;)

So I welcome you to build your embassy here Mr Rod!

Baron Maude La Flaga, founder of Hykerbia city, of the House of Mitgardia and loyal knight of King Jarl Nibilung.

Hykerbia sounds perfect, nice and close to Dr Rod's lair in the Northern reaches of the Rakath Mtns and a logical place for his traders to build a trade house/embassy. I shall send gifts to show my appreciation for the DA approval soon

I will get my architect working, I think the Victorian style of glass and bricks you mention will be influential...

Dr Rod

So Hexx's embassy will be in Glevum!

I guess other embassies are welcome as well?

Of course!

1 (or 2?) from each guild can come to build in Glevum (city in the Avalonian woodlands) so long as they don't bring violence and evil along with them as Glevum is a safe peaceful city.

If you wish for your embassy to be located in Glevum please post here to request where your building will be so I may add it to the map and other things that I will remember later on. :classic:

Lord Damaximus decided to accept the terms and will build a guild for Kaliphlin in your area! :classic:

That werewolves and traders from Kaliphlin may live in peace!

ok, I look forward to seeing the results

I think we have to follow cities policies. If they don't want embassies, so be it. And when I drew the map for my Mpya Stedor, I gave 6 spots the function of embassy (3 for the Guilds of Historica, 1 for the Guild I am born in far far away and 2 for the first factions who want to put an embassy in my city)

The main reason why I made this topic is because I think it's stupid that some cities (let's say Albion in Avalonia) will have 5 embassies of the same Guild (Kaliphlin for example), while cities at the other side of that Guild will have no embassies. This means that travellers with problems will have to walk hundreds of miles and a couple of days before they are safe in their embassy.

So I prefer that every Guild can only have one embassy in every city outside their own Guild.

Of course this is not forbidden, but if you want, you can build your embassy in Glevum, just a few hours walking from Albion :)

Building an embassy in a city has the advantage that in times of war between 2 guilds, the enemies can't sabotage your embassy (as long it's not your Guild who is in war of course) :classic:

So translated for all embassybuilders: "Albion is ours, go to another city!":laugh:

Hold on mate. You've got a bit ahead of yourself here. ZCerebus is saying, go ahead and build in Albion if you want to, just dont ask for an official place in the inner sanctum or expect your embassy to be officially recognised unless its something special. Perhaps we should ease up on this micro management and let people build first and then discuss placement later.

Like I said before, this topic is to help people with building an embassy. What's the point of building 10 Kaliphin embassies only for Albion? Or building an embassy in wood-style when it will be placed in a city with only houses of stone?

But of course someone may first build an embassy and then he may look where he'll place it, no problem with that at all!

My point is just that one city doesn't may have all the embassies of one Guild :classic:

Thank you Viceroy. Correct, build in Albion, just don't claim a plot number and don't post it in the Albion thread. I may link it into the Albion thread depending on how everything develops.

I also agree we may be micromanaging a bit too much. I like the initiative here, but when I build the embassy, I will not be necessarily be building it in a specific city, just to fit the general Guild area there the embassy is located. I think it is fine for people to want to place an embassy in a certain location/city, but it is certainly fine for them to just state it is in another Guild's lands without being super specific as to a city.

Glevum is free and is a good location, as it on a major trade route

6544410613_1d14612227.jpg

if you wish to build on my land comment on this topic so we can negotiate where your land will be

Your offer is appreciated, good Sir. The Warlocks will build their embassy and a nocturnian marketplace at Glevum, any place you decide will be good. Perhaps it would be best if my building site is somewhere near the river or at least a stream because we need a large supply of water to grow some of our special plants that won't travel well.

Well since Legonardo is looking for hosting an embassy, your embassy will be in Glevum!!!

In addition: May Moorlight host embassies or is it an hostile area?

Don't be frightened, The Warlocks will be delighted to host an embassy. We are rough only towards tresspassers, but we guarantee safety to all our guests who announce themselves.

When building in Moorlight area bare this in mind:

-there isn't much stone around so your building material would be primarily wood

-there aren't any huge beasts since the swamp is thick, but crocks and dangerous bugs and snakes are very common

-we drove off most of the local wildlings so they won't bother you, and orcs who work for us won't cause you any problems, we may even send them to aid you with your works

-vegetation is very colourfull, wild and bright, it may have some magical properties so be careful when you deforest :)

-heavy armor isn't the best choice of wardrobe when you dwell in a swamp

-the beacon on the Moorlight tower is constantly lit, so you can always find your way through the swamps.

Moorlight area is located in the eastern Moruth (red elipse on the map), so if anyone wishes to build here, we extend our hand of friendship, MWAHAHAHAHAHA..oops..got carried away, anyway see you around :)

I tend to agree with this, if a person builds a "general embassy" then if it really needs a location the guild master of the receiving guild (the one which the embassy is built in) can assign it later.

I understand the desire to limit some buildings in certain cities, but since we are participating in an event with such loose structure, I think it might be hard to add any concrete rules mid way through. I definitely think that a person should have the right to reject a foreign entity in "their territory" though, although some of us only loosely "claim" an area.

Of course it's totally no problem that someone just build an embassy and just state it's in another Guild. I am absolutely fine with that!

But those who have a city and like some embassies in it, I think they may claim that embassy than? Or not?

It's not my job to make rules  Like in real medieval times, most people do their own thing with their city :classic: And that's better than having a strict law for everything. Now we have the freedom to add a personal touch in our projects and to the Historicaproject in general.

That's why owners of cities can say that embassies are not allowed in their city, like Ondylion for example. It is his fullest right to say so and nobody will be angry at him :classic:

For most Guilds, the moment someone claim an area in his Guild which is not taken, they may control that area and decide what to do with it :)

Albion is a guild project and because we have plots already staked out, I didn't want to allow anyone other than an Avalonian to build in the capital city on the pre-made plots. I hope you understand that if we all other guilds' members to build inside our great capital who knows what kind of foolishness will ensue!

HOWEVER...

Albion has two tiers and there is no guarantee we will ever develop the space between the Wall and the Inner Sanctum. I am fine with people saying they have built an embassy inside Albion (and therefore located between the two tiers), however, I will not allow it to have a plot number inside the Albion Inner Sanctum and may not link the embassy in the first post of the Albion thread. If we ever develop the outer tier we reserve the right to simply not link an embassy or any other building in the thread as official. I think that is reasonable.

Once again, we will NOT be allowing any non-Avalonians to have a plot number in the Inner Sanctum. However, you may say your embassy is in Albion understanding that it may never be linked as an official part on the Albion thread. I would also appreciate any embassy that is listed as being in Albion NOT be posted in the Albion thread itself. Post the embassy in the regular Guild forum and if everything is reasonably completed and fits, I may choose to link them in the Albion thread as well.

Thank you!!!

I think your city is ready for invasion ;)

HOWEVER...

We will not attack openly. Too many of you avalonians, you are like rabbits; Drow have a lot of gold, and gold buys commitment from all other races. So we are going to steer things a little, buy few politicians, assassin some important heads of families and plant few evidence that incriminate other heads of important families, cults are going to rise and poor are going to rebel; we are going to occupy all the slums, thief guilds and unholy shrines; every cutthroat, smuggler and lady of questionable morale is going to ultimately work for us; we are going to saw paranoia, hate and despair among it citizens, and ultimately, city is going to eat it self up, and at the end, burn by the hands of its own citizens. And there will not be more then a hand full of Drow in the city, pulling the strings. And at the end, one of them will bring me the head of the pompous human that thought that he can talk to the matron-mother like they are equal!

Drow rule supreme! And just think how certain everything is, when we can talk about our plans so openly

Also, we will build tower of despair near the city, and call it embassy; every night screams from the tower will chill the blood of the week avalonians from the city, and any attempt to board the embassy will be regarded as an act of war; swarms of banshee will spread their screams during every single night over and over and over, until there is not a crumb of sense left in your week minds. We will fill the surrounding woods with nightmares and creatures lusting for blood, and there will not be a safe soul in this so called city of yours! Drow rule supreme!

(Note: my camera just died :) so, I will post pictures of the infiltration squad and banshees later ;) )

Fellow builders!

My newly founded city Moria is open for embassies. You can find more information about Moria in this little post over in the Avalonia thread.

I'm also offering a Embassy for Mitgardia. I want to go after something Skyrim-styled. Offers appreciated but i'm also open to build in your valued capital.

Best regards,

Sir Moriartus / Rolli

IF I manage to build an embassy on time it will be situated in Mitgardia and probably will be a trading post but who knows?

If any kind Mitgardian would offer some of their land or suggest a good place with plenty of stone/wood that would be excellent and in return I shall send them Avalonian treasures such as gold from Gruven and (not promising this) I will try to put their sigfig in the MOC (if I have the parts)

Sure thing! Here are three places that should suit your needs

once you have decided do tell. as for materials outside the city there is an abundance of trees, plenty of stone and metals (mainly gold) come out of the mine everyday and many other materials are found here. the only thing you might have some problems with is lava/fires, but I'm sure we can figure something out.
