Burf2000 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I built this for a show just for kids to look at, not the most advance thing in the world! Might give some people some ideas. Controlled via a RCX for speed. Quote
timslegos Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Would you mind explaining how it works? I am puzzled by the gear connections. tim Quote

So there is this main axel that can go up and down which changes the gears. Using central fugal forces, the faster the motor spins, the beams on the yellow spinner move out which forces the axel up and thus changing gears. I then put a elastic band on the shaft to bring the axel back down for lower speeds. I take a feed off the motor too to be the output (e.g wheels) Quote

I wasn't sure if the gear box was controlled by the motor's changing speed. tim Quote
