I did not think this qualified as MOC so didn't stick it in that forum. I thought the bones all over the ship were not accurate and a distraction. I also straightened the bow line color patterns. Built more of a top deck, and changed a lot of other stuff too. I think it turned out to be the best offset for the Imperial Flagship I have.

2Either way, the Queen Anne's Revenge might not be liked for the multiple bones, it is a ship that offers a lot of possibilities regarding moc ships, more than the Black Pearl if you ask me

BP 7/10
QAR 7/10
To say the least they both have their strengths and weaknesses!

That sounds like a good idea! I can't wait to see you make a steam ship using the black hulls.

I have a Neo-Confederate Armored Cruiser (for my post-apocalyptic setting) semi-planned... Just need to get a set inventory off BrickLink (when it's added) so I can play around with the parts in LDD until it is actually available in stores around here. I'm currently working on designs for converting my Sea Serpent (old 1992 Black Knights castle ship) into two Neo-Confederate gunboats to provide escort for it.

Great animation. I made my first one last week (the lighthouse) and just spent the last two nights making the Imperial Flagship in the same way. 12 hours so far, and I still need to do a couple of hours worth of finishing touches tonight, at which point I'll post it to YouTube tonight using the same name (Brainslugged) if you're interested in seeing it. I use my video camera to take the photos which fortunately has a remote so no camera shake. I also have it directly under a bunch of lights to try to avoid changes in lighting. I noticed that you zoomed in and out on specific bits during the build, but I chose to have the whole thing fit in the frame. I'm slightly worried this means everything will be too small to see very well, but I guess I'll find out tonight. Maybe I need to practice zooming and panning while building. Still trying to work out whether the BP or QAR would make the best companion piece to it though.

I also noticed that the lighting changes was actually caused cause I wore a white shirt and it reflected a lot of light when I was too close to the ship (Not sitting in my chair behind the camera) I'm also probably gonna get a webcam and start using Helium frog to compose pictures. THat should get rid of the camera shaking.

the qar offers more hull pieces (the bp's hull is incomplete), and they're brown, so they'll match those in your imperial flagship set. important factors to consider if you're into moc'ing.

On-topic, still on the fence about whether to go for QAR or BP, but the fact that the BP doesn't have a hull rear really puts me off it. Having said that, the flimsy QAR build would really annoy me. Maybe I should just stick to Star Wars sets, or try and track down a Grand Carousel for a reasonable price.

That being said, I cannot stand the look of the official Lego set for the Black Pearl. I think the set designers did a much better job on the QAR. If the Black Pearl looked the same way as the one in the Lego game, it would win, hands down, best looking Lego pirate ship ever. As it sits right now, I would place it somewhere at the bottom of the list.
The BSB is the standard by which all other ships are measured. It was the first one, and the best one. Rigt behind it, I placed the SES... Until now. (edited to clarify) I've put the SES and QAR together and I think its a draw. They both have things I love and hate. Example: I absolutely hate the cannon mounting on the SES, but I love the old rigging and masts. I can't really stand the style of the "new" masts.
