I'm sorry if there is confusion!  you both pick actions each round, and then both actions take place, but the order just is reversed each  round.  So Eric you must pick an action too!

Ow, sorry :blush: . I thought only Tothwick had to pick an action, since it's his round.

Thothwick starts off the battle, throwing his weapon at his fellow hero.  It makes a direct hit, slicing off a chunk of the barbarian's lower right arm, and Eric loses 6 health.  Eric screams in pain and quickly takes a bit of cloth from his cloak to tie around the wound.  Thothwick waits for him to do so, as it is the honorable thing to do.

Eric was surprised. How could this be happening? He was a great and experienced Norse Barbarian warrior. How could this greenhorn be besting him right now? The pain in his arm was sharp, but it was his pride that was far more damaged. Not willing to relent, Eric decided to attack Tothwick head on, hoping his bloodrage would save him. If not, he was most likely doomed.

Eric will attack Tothwick from the front row.

Tothwick bounces forward, narrowly dodging one of Eric's attacks that misses.  He then successfully picks up his weapon and retreats to a safe distance.

<Yes, another round commences, though you may at any point choose to do anything, as I told Docken.  Do not be afraid to explore the arena, especially now that you have two heroes up at the same time!  It may be too late now, with Eric so weak, but don't be afraid in the future of the quest to push the limits!>

<As it has been 24 hours, I'll just go ahead and assume Eric is attacking from the front row.>

Thothwich charges at Eric, confident that he will win.  Eric does not plan to go down without a fight though, and once Thothwick throws his Shuriken Eric sidesteps and it lodges itself in a wall behind him.  Eric turns to him, grins, and tells Thothwick he has fought a valiant fight.  He then raises his own club and Thothwick is struck with the enemies special damage, which in the case of Eric is an battle frenzy, causing 11 damage to the poor rogue.  Eric wails on Thothwick with his club until Thothwick calls uncle.

Thothwick looks at the approaching guards with pleading eyes.  "We will come get you," promises Eric in a whisper before the guards lift Thothwick off the ground and drag him away.  Eric is lowered back into the cavern that the fighters wait in.  A brief 30 minute intermission from fights, for the audience's benefit, is announced, and the combatants may talk amount themselves.

Master Docken tires to subtly walk around the cavern.  He spots a total of 11 guards, all armed and ready to fight.  They all attempt to stare him down, discouraging escape.

Well, guys, what do you think we should do? There is a chance that in an establishment like this, there are only n00b guards, but I'm not liking the odds of going up against eleven guards with only five other heroes. Perhaps we should ask the other combatants if they will help us escape? (ugh, I see now that letting that Orc live could've been beneficial)

Cronk not like be forced to fight friends.  Cronk like bash evil.  And mean Draco man seem evil to Cronk.  Cronk think Cronk's friends should address other combatants and enlist help against guards.  

Cronk use knight power to diplomate speech now.  

:sing: Attention fellow combatants!  Fighting amongst selves not right!  Cronk want all beings here be Cronk's friends and rise up against evil oppressors to secure freedom for all Cronk's friends!  What say all fellow combatants?

If diplomating work, Cronk will think of plan to overpower guards.

The contestants all turn to look at Cronk.  A few look like they might be interested in speaking, namely the fellow in the hat, the skeleton, and the female, but a look from the guards puts them back in their place.  Clearly the party will have to go up to the other contestants one at a time.  Perhaps, as well, so as not to make the guards too suspect, they should designate one person to send to go talk to each specific other contestant, so that it does not look like a big gathering.

<Please specify who you would like to speak to, and which of you would like to go speak with them!  They don't like being yelled at!  :laugh: >

"You... you want to talk to me... wait... you killed, you're the one who, that poor Orc, I'm sorry, I don't think I should, I mean, don't hurt me, will you, do you, I can't talk to you, the guards, sorry."

The skeleton scuttles off to another corner.

That mighty fine hat, future Cronk's friend.  Cronk greatly admire headgear.  What Mr. Hat Man think about maybe helping rest of Cronk's friends break out of Arena Cell?  Cronk and Cronk's friends are Heroes.  Cronk and Cronk's friends only want help everyone not fight to death for evil man's amusement.

"Hello!  My name is Felton.  It is a pleasure to meet you Cronk!"  He lowers his voice to a whisper.  "I too would like to escape.  I have heard stories about these games... while the tales may not reach Eubric, rumors have been flying across the countryside for a few months.  Strong folk disappear for a long time, and everyone once in a while, one or two of them stumble back and say that they were forced to fight in an Arena, but they cannot remember how they got to and from the Arena.  Most people label them as crazy, but I listened.  Knowledge is power, and you never know when it will come in handy."  Cronk nods.  Felton steps a little closer.

"My advice is this.  I have heard that between rounds, that is once the first eight fights have been had, a Cleric comes and heals everyone who has fought.  I think we should wait for that and then escape.  When that time comes, I will fight with you against the guards, but right now Hans and I are both injured.  We will lose more contestants that way, but it is quite likely that there will be less guards than and we will all be at full health.  If you wish to try to escape now... well, best of luck.  I'm waiting."

Thank you for your advice and information, Friend Felton.  Cronk will go discuss with Cronk's other friends.  Friend Felton should wait and Cronk will give signal for Friend Felton to help.

Cronk think Felton's plan have merit.  What Cronk's friend's think?
