Atramor got a Bone, which he can add to his inventory.
Bone (Can be thrown at monsters to distract them for a turn. Worth nothing, except in magic shops where it’s worth 5 gold.)

The dog is a large one, effectively blocking the party's way further into the warehouse unless they wake it up. The dog turns in its sleep, clawing the spot where the bone was just a moment ago, and whimpers.

It doesn't take much to stir it from its sleep.

"Atramor, I'd put your chicken away," whispers Boomingham.  He is not afraid of dogs, but he would also not like to hurt it if he can help it.  "I agree with my friend Eric.  Perhaps the ranger could talk to the dog."

I see we have too options.  We kill the dog straight away, or Alexis tries to talk to it.  The latter will probably wake it up anyway; however, I expect we'll have to battle the dog either way, so I guess there is no harm in trying Alexis's skills first.

"Don't worry, she's in my hat," he mutters in reply to Boomingham. "And I agree, I think we should let Alexis take a crack at it first."

Maybe Alexis could talk it into sleeping again, once she's done asking about the crates?

Possibly, but then we won't be able to get past.  I have a very strong inkling we're going to have to fight the dog one way or another, but it is worth Alexis trying to talk to it first.

The guard hound is roused awake by Alexis' telepathic message. It notices that its precious bone is gone, and immediately starts barking like mad.

"Grrr... BARK BARK BARK!!! <What is it? Where is Mr. Boney? Huh, strangers?! Alarm, alarm, intruders!!! And don't you try any mind tricks with me, Miss Ranger, I am fully loyal to my masters! Alarm alarm! Why isn't anyone coming? Oh well, I guess I have to take on you lot myself! My name is Rover, and nobody gets past me!>"

The party has no other option but to fight the watchdog.

Eric grins, his eyes burning with a fiery passion. He quickly draws Godricsleif, his greatsword. The blade was eager for blood, Eric was ready for battle. This mongrel dog didn't stand a chance.

Eric will attack Rover, fighting from the first row, of course.

Atramor smirks as he realizes the chain can be used as a whip, and decides to attack Rover on the front row, alongside Eric.

"Sorry Doggy, but opponents can not be shown mercy.  I respect your loyalty to your masters however.  Perhaps if we had met another day..."

Lord Boomingham begins the battle by taking the Sentinel position, protecting the whole party from damage for the duration of the next round. Eric swings his mighty Godricsleif at Rover, razing 7 points of health from it. Atramor follows with a quick stab of his Sai-dagger, causing additional 4 points of damage to the dog. This makes the dog go berserk, and he attacks both Hybros and Rufindel in succession, causing 4 points of damage to both of them. He then barks intimidatingly at Alexis, who suffers a penalty to her attack power for the next turn.

With the watchdog out of the way, the party gets a good look at the layout of the warehouse (they entered through the large doors at the south-west). No guards were alarmed by Rover's barking, but the party can hear distant footsteps echoing in the dimness of the vast hall.

What will the party do next?

"Rufindel, perhaps you should patch up my friend Hybros, he seems to be in pain from Rover," says Boomingham, polishing his shield merrily.

"As for our next move, I say onward!  We hear voices, let's go check them out.  Maybe Hybros or Atramor could sneak ahead and check them out?  See how many there are.  If it's a singular guard we should take him out, so we won't have to deal with him later.  If we are seen and they call for back-up, well, wouldn't it be nice if we had already taken care of the back-up?"

Well, we made a bit of a meal of that

Since he expressed such an interest, Atramor should receive the Chain Whip, but I'll do my best to distribute further spoils as fairly as possible.  

I shall also Heal Hybros as his health is a little low.

What to do next?  I guess it would be logical to start the search with Aisle One.  What does everyone else think?

Eric felt newfound strength and energy coursing through his veins. Despite landing a heavy blow to the dog, Godricsleif did not seem to be bloodied at all. It was as if it had absorbed the blood, sucking it from the dog.

The Nord looked at the rest of his party, grinning.
"Maybe we could check out the crates the dog was guarding, first? You never know they contain something of value. If they don't contain anything, I agree with Rufindel and support his proposition of checking out aisle 1."

Ow, that hurt. Thanks for healing me, Rufindel. I'm happy to let Atramor have the Chain Whip.

I agree, Aisle 1 seems like the most logical choice.

That is a very good idea.  If no-one disagrees, let's check those crates first then go to Aisle 1.
