Like they say, "Sometimes a good defense is the best offense".

Hey, that's an Ahsoka line that's actually worth quoting!

Shame Ahsoka didn't actually invent it, and just quoted it herself.

That would be pretty interesting... especially since Docken would be able to fight from the back row. No enemy below Level 30 would be able to damage him.  :oh:

I foresee a lot of enemies with "Ignores SP" in my future. Otherwise, if I go on a quest with Level 1s, they're going to be dropping left and right if the QM wants to try to threaten me. (of course, if I rolled a Shield...)

There are plenty of ways to get around shields. Most Special Damages don't deal raw damage, instead having some sort of severely limiting effect.

Of course, there's always this Disarm special I plan to use if I ever get around to planning a Quest... :devil_laugh:

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

The SHIELD-skills of some the advanced job classes have now been altered or clarified:
~ The Hunter's "Marking of the Favoured" now includes attacking the target before making the choice of whether to mark their type as favoured. This eliminates the uselessness of rolling a SHIELD when the targetted enemy is already favoured.
~ The Black Knight's "Demon Within" now causes darkness-elemental damage equal to three times WP + level to all enemies. The attack will still leave the Black Knight stunned for the next round, but now it's more worthwhile.
~ The Warden's "Aura" now allows them to keep the remaining health that does not exceed their maximum value after using the skill. This helps prevent them from getting knocked out after rolling a SHIELD.
~ The skills of Shaman and Mystic Knight have been reworded to clarify their effects.

If you have any questions about these changes, or would like a clarification to another advanced job class skill, please ask away.

~Now playing as Ellaria Arbour the Druid in Heroica RPG!~

We should team up again Brickdoctor! Tesni's attack and Docken's defense and the enemy will collapse!

I am aiming for high attack power over all else, my strategy is allways the more agressive side of thinks. Hit 'em so they stay down! Which is why I chose to go for Berserker.

Awesome. That's almost like being a Cleric-Ranger-Knight.  :classic: If you roll a Shield and you don't take too much Damage, you heal yourself.

Stats first. Roleplay second.   (though I ended up constructing a history for Docken [at least the one of Historica, but I've pretty much decided that they're the same] that would make Warden the best choice for him - he has a number of predecessors who were all sword users)

Durkon walked into the Hall, grimacing at the sight of a fierce barbarian doing sword-practice.  He caught sight of a tall, shirtless, man.  As he came into sight, Durkon roared, as he knew the face.  It was one of those who had burned his home, he had lost his books, poem-book, his gems, his Oaken Stave, which was adored with Elvish, but most of all, Cinna.  A great bolt of lightning roared from Durkon, right into the man, crushing him against the wall, torturing him with lightning, the man's body writhing in agony and fear.  In a gesture of a last-resort, the man chucked his metal stave at Durkon's head, dealing him a mighty blow and rendering him into pain and darkness.  The last thing he remembered was the man staring up at him, his face lined with worry and wondering.

...um, what?  This seems like something you should have discussed via PM.  It just seems out-of character for Haldor--oh, I see you've already gone through this.  Also, have you discussed using Cinna with Darkdragon?  I mean if you have, OK, I guess, but...don't expect anything from Arthur.  Aside from repeated applications of Bugsby's Expressive Single Digit if Arthur finds out.

Black Knights can have evil pets, right? Like a falcon. Except Atramor could only afford a demonic chicken...or something.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!

The list of effects has been updated with two new effects:
~ Badly Poisoned – The target loses 10 health each turn until the effect is remedied or the battle is over.
~ Blessed – The target receives 3 health at the end of each round for the duration of one battle. (Props to Etzel for creating this effect for his quest, I just simplified it a bit.)

Items that cause these effects will be added to the Marketplace in the near future. Oh, and if you have more new effects to suggest, I'm all ears.

Not sure if this is where to post this:
If someone in one's party is KO'ed, can one pick up one of their weapons and use it? Is there a rule about this, or should it be handled directly with the person in question?

Am I correct in assuming that hand-to-hand or weaponless attacks cannot harm the undead?
