My light solution, I cheated.

I drilled a hole in a black 2x3 plate and stuck a shortened technic pin with stud in a 1x2 technic brick with hole.

Here are the pics.

Love it!  Can you tell me where you got the LED light/wiring?

Yup it is indeed the official LEGO PF led light, set 8870
(the secondary led I have hidden in the cab inside a trans-blue cylinder for ambient effect.
Had installed it on the back at first but there was to much light bleeding trough the cracks)

Just finished building the second of three Maersk Train sets and I have noticed that I have one black Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Door Rail (Bricklink description) left over from both sets. It is unusual to have a bigger piece as a spare. Have gone through instructions and have not missed anything. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yep! It seems to be an extra. I had one spare in both of the sets I built.

Hi,

another light assembly solution if anyone is interested (requires no part modification but does require some extra parts in Maersk blue color):

I just finished my 10219 today. It's a great model, i'll give it a front spot at my train collection  :sweet:  She makes the BNSF look so nimble, especially with the chunky Maersk containers.

Thanks for sharing this approach. I used your example, but passed the cables under the driver's seat instead of over it's head. It's easy and makes the cables less visible.

Sorry to update this topic, but I'm so happy to have this set now %)  I'm from Russia and had to order it from LA via eBay when I first saw this train %)  I'm not a big collector like you guys, but when I was a kid I had some sort of a collection. In "old times" it was difficult and expensive to have LEGO in our country, but my parents managed to get me all the sets I now have in the big box %)  For 10 years I wanted to get all the LEGO from the box and make photos of it %)  And only in 2011 I managed to finally do it %)  It took 2 months to make photos, and I couldn't miss this Maersk set, and I wanted to make photos of it... that's why I ordered it ))

My "childhood train" is the 1996 black/yellow "Cargo Railway" set, by the way )

Here are the photos of this Maersk Train, if someone is interested: http://www.fdbk.su/maersk  :cry_happy:  (photos are not square, be sure to watch full 3:2 versions  :sweet:  )

And here are the results of the whole photo-project dedicated to my childhood LEGO-collection: http://www.fdbk.su/lego

P.S. In this topic I saw messages about errors in part packaging... I thought LEGO people don't do any mistakes )  Luckily, my MAERSK set was OK  :sweet:

Thanks for the attention %))  And sorry for the links, I hope they are not prohibited here %))  I hope my photos will help people to decide, should they buy 10219 or not ))

I'm currently on a Eurotrip and I was in Copenhagen yesterday after driving from Göteborg, what a beautiful drive it was too!

Anyway, I visited the Lego store and picked a Maersk set up. I can't wait to get back to Melbourne and build it.

if anyone in the US is serious about getting this train, TRU is doing BOGO 50% off, plus use promo code "HOLIDAY2011" for an additional $15 off. Free shipping too....

  I ordered 2

Eliminator, this is a great deal!  I went onto the TRU website this morning but didn't see the BOGO deal-- was it a short-term offering, or am I missing something...?

Thanks!

I got an email this morning from TRU that the BOGO 50% will be back Tuesday 11/22 & Wednesday 11/23.  I'm not seeing it right now either... and unfortunately, I'm seeing 10219 as not available - out of stock for shipping.

yea, the BOGO 50% sale they had over the weekend decimated their stock. But the Emerald Night, Pet Shop, MMV and a few others have been re-stocked already. I'd keep an eye on the site and see if the Maersk train re-stocks as well.

Just checked back this morning and there is a BOGO 50% off on most Lego (was the sale last weekend BOGO free or BOGO 50% off?):

Sadly most of the "good" stuff (my opinion) is still showing as being out of stock.  Posted Image

Will keep checking....

When I saw this kit the first time I was blown away, even more so now. Got to get this one sooner rather than later.

I just ordered this as my first LEGO train yesterday!  I also ordered all the PF components and some track to make it a working set.  I can't wait to get started on it!

Thanks for the great review that helped me make up my mind!
