EXO-CHAMP Posted June 20, 2006 A MOC created for my EXO-DICE game. The Tarantulla is a 2 pilot, 4 legged mecha. It's used by regular Human forces rather than the elite Exo-Force Team. xenologer Posted June 20, 2006 Nice except the legs need more development. (just imagine how hard it would be to walk if You had no knees) at the moment, it looks more like a Lunar Lander type craft to me.... just add knee joints so the legs are less tripod-like and it'll be fine
Asuka Posted June 20, 2006 It looks cool. I would not like to come close to this mandibels.... X-O
EXO-CHAMP Posted June 20, 2006 The mandibles can "shoot" out to form a spear/battering ram. Full speed ahead and down goes a robot mecha. I'll see what i can do about the legs. My original idea was that it moved somewhat like a lizard. Shuffling forward, so it didn't need a knee joint.
Kahgarak Posted June 20, 2006 Ah,you also posted this at Exo Force Network.I really like the Tarantula-the idea of Mandible-like battering rams is really cool.I also like all of the guns on this thing. 9/10,it needs knee joints.
optimus-convoy Posted June 20, 2006 Great Moc. *y* But (like others have said) some knees wouldn't hurt.
EXO-CHAMP Posted June 20, 2006 I followed your advice and added knees to the Tarantulla. What do you think? (I also made the under-belly gun swivel mounted so it can fire to the sides, and added a few more missiles).
xenologer Posted June 20, 2006 Now all it needs is the Rhotuka spinner on the back. :-D
EXO-CHAMP Posted June 21, 2006 Now all it needs is the Rhotuka spinner on the back. :-D I suppose that is a positive feed-back of some sorts...
Kahgarak Posted June 22, 2006 Heheh, funny little Visorak joke (Rhotuka).Get it?Tarantula?Spider?Visorak?Eh?Eh? ...I'll shut my piehole now *sweet* . The knees on the new version are suh-wheat!
EXO-CHAMP Posted June 22, 2006 Yes, yes. I get it... ;-) You could use the big rotor from the Fire Vulture as a Rhotuka. That would fit for size.
Shakar Posted June 24, 2006 Hey, now with the knees it's perfect. The colour scheme fits for a human mech, as it appears that the human's flag colour is orange, while for the robots it's dark green. I just don't like the tan knees, I'd put dark grey ones if you have them. I'd say it is good enough to make a set. Overall, I like it. Good job! Khorne Posted June 25, 2006 Looks cool, but I still think there is something wrong with the legs. Isn't a spider supposed to have 8 of them? The legs look a bit odd too, it think you should reposition them. Here are some pics of spiders (just to shown how their legs are positioned): Pic 1 Pic 2 The Wiki page with some pics Hope it helped! oo7 Posted June 25, 2006 What is this??? Perhaps it's from a movie???
Khorne Posted June 25, 2006 (edited) Yeah, it's from a movie called Wild Wild West. There is a lot of stuff like that in the movie. It's a great resource for steampunk builders. *EDIT* Here's another good example of insectoid legs. Edited June 26, 2006 by KhoRne
EXO-CHAMP Posted June 27, 2006 It looks nice, but i'm out of bricks so no more legs for now. The Fire Vulture doesn't really look like a vulture either. The joints will be replaced when i get the right colour.
