Convinced they'd finally smoked out the Sinister Insane, the patients and staff wrongly convicted the deranged and Insane genius Professor Diem.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
January 8, 1961.  The hospital is cold.  The hospital is quiet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In the washroom, the corpse of Ryan Catchers hung, lonely, a trace of past corpses lingering in the air.

Posted Image

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In their beds, Dougie 'Jesus' Douglas, Perry Noid, and Dudley Eisenhower lay, murdered in their sleep.
Posted Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The remaining staff had been dragged to the center of the ward, bodies discarded, having been robbed of life.

Posted Image

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The rest, the Sinister Insane, marched toward the aghast doctor Blutziegel.
Why?  Why have you done this to my hospital?  I've only tried to help you!
Posted Image
The doctor's cries were muffled as he was swarmed by the group.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In his lair, his personal hideaway, the Sinister Insane laughed at their previous captor.

Posted Image

You're all sick, you know that?  If not me, who could ever have helped you?

Dr. Ballbricker smiled at her old boss, "Oh, doctor, I think we're quite capable of helping ourselves at this point."

Blutziegel stared at them all, slowly scanning their faces.  Tears welled up in his eyes, seeing his life's work revealed in the blood lust of the lunatics before him.  He remembered his past, memories fleeting and folding upon themselves, but all remaining firmly out of his grasp.  He could barely recall a face not in front of him now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
His head is severed and his mind goes black.
Congratulations to the one of the baddest bad ass teams in EB history!  To the charismatic leader, Ricecracker; to his henchmen Lord Arjay and Scouts; to the hypnotist, Dragonator; and the framer, Rufus.  Also, congratulations to the recruited Cornelius Murdock, and to the suicidal Badboytje88.
This game was full of A+ bad-assery, my hats go off to you folks.
The End
Hey! It's me!
Henry!
Hi.
Screw you all  :laugh:
Epilogue
<translated from German>
In a country house, in a small village a short drive from Cologne.
Posted Image
Mother entered the room without knocking.  "Ilse, dear, why must you read that?!  You know I loathe those medical books."
Posted Image
Mother, you know my free time is my own.  You cannot command me not to enjoy what I choose.
Mother was taken aback.  "I just want happiness for you.  You don't realize the pain medicine has caused this family."
Ilse was unfazed.
Posted Image
And you mother, don't realize where my heart and soul lies.  You cannot take this from me, I will follow my calling.
Posted Image
I will make Father proud of me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Unfortunately, if Yumi, who had taken iamded's ability, had killed a scum member, like Lord Arjay who she'd voted for before, the game would continue.  But, without that to allow town to outnumber them, the final nail was in town's coffin.

Everyone played very hard, and a lot of respect goes out to everyone.  Thanks for making this a great game, and hopefully it'll be a hard one to top in 2011  :grin:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are the roles, minus the pictures of weapons.
Peauts 1. You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You are The Snoop, you can determine loyalty by stealing a patient's file. You're equipment is The Lock Pick.
Bob The Construction Man 2. You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You are the Rampant Protecter, you can protect any person, but not two nights in a row. Or, you can choose to protect two in one night, but effectiveness will be done by coin flip. One could succeed, both could succeed, or both could fail.
Iamded 3. You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You are Ethically Pathalogical. You are happy to kill, but are essentially good. You can kill one person a night, but you only have three bullets. After three night actions, you will have none left. Your equipment is The Luger, with three bullets.
Jimbutcher 4. You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You and KingoftheZempk are Childhood Friends, reunited in the insane ward. You know for a fact that KingoftheZempk is a good Insane.
KingoftheZempk 5. You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You and JimButcher are Childhood Friends, reunited in the insane ward. You know for a fact that JimButcher is a good Insane
WalterKovacs 6. You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You are The Seductress. You can seduce the player of your choice, causing impotence in them, impeding their night action. This involves crawling into their bed at night.
Admiral Ron 7. You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You are The Photographer, you can learn the ability of any player by stalking them. If a player doesn't use their ability, and no other player performs an action on them, you'll simply have a picture of them sleeping. Your equipment is The Camera.
Stash2Sixx 8. You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You are the Amateur Psychiatrist, you can determine a player's loyalty by studying their behaviour. This is a DAY ACTION. You must send in your action in the first 24 hours of daytime play.
ThePenguin 9. You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You are The Aggressive Paranoid. You are always armed. You will kill whoever kills you at night. If lynched, you will kill the first person who voted for you. Your equipment is The Grenade.
Rick 10. You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You are The Nervous Wreck. You will always be investigated as Guilty, but are Innocent.
Whitefang 11. You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You are The Ninja. You can't be touched, investigated or messed with in any way at night, but you also can't have your innocence confirmed. You can be lynched.
Hinckley 12.You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You are The Mad Doctor. You can switch the personalities, and thereby, the abilities, of any two unprotected Insane players. Your equipment is The Syringe.
MrLegoNinja 13. You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You have A Monkey In Your Pants. One time only, you can release a monkey during the day time, incapacitate the player of your choice for one game day. They will be unlynchable, lose their night actions, and be safe during the night. They will be returned to the hospital in the following day. This is a DAY ACTION. You must send in your action in the first 24 hours of daytime play. Your equipment is The Monkey.
Roncantor, Cornelius Murdock, ADH015, Zephyr, Quarryman, Big Cam, Sok117 14-20. You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You are simply Insane, no abilities. But, worry not, there is always room to change in this game.
Sandy 21. You are independent. You are Insane, of course, but your win requirements are separate from the rest of the hospital. You can choose to work with the Insane or the Sinister Insane. You are The Serial Killer. You faked your way into the asylum in order to evade the police. You can choose one person to target each night, either with a blade or a bullet. You must specify the mode of death. Also, you must specify the room to kill in: Monkey, Bear, Rabbit, Chicken, Spider, Staff, the bathroom, or the broom closet. You win by surviving and successfully killing three players. Your equipment is The Gunblade.
Shadows 22. You are independent. You are Insane, of course, but your win requirements are separate from the rest of the hospital. You can choose to work with the Insane or the Sinister Insane. You are the Whisperer. You can leave a message for any player on their pillow unless they are protected. The message will appear as, "As you rub your eyes open in the light of morning, you remember a voice telling you at night, '______'". Any message is okay, except one that exposes your role. You win by surviving.
TinyPiesRUs Syringe23. You are independent. You are Insane, of course, but your win requirements are separate from the rest of the hospital. You can choose to work with the Insane or the Sinister Insane. You are the Psychotropic Experimenter. You can switch the targets of any night actions by drugging the players. Your action is null if a non-action member is selected. You win by surviving and successfully drugging players on three nights. Your equipment is the Syringe.
Badboytje88 24. You are independent. You are Insane, of course, but your win requirements are separate from the rest of the hospital. You can choose to work with the Insane or the Sinister Insane. You are the Manic Suicidal. You want to die. You win by being lynched from day three onwards. Dying at night or being lynched on day one or two will be a loss for you. You may not tell players you want to die, request to be lynched, or claim to be scum or an independent. You must inspire the players to lynch you. If you break one of these rules, you will automatically lose the game.
Yumiyoshi 25. You are the Usurper, a very special and unique role. If anybody performs any night actions on you, you will kill them, cut off their face, and adopt their role. You will then be aligned to either Town, Mafia or Independents, depending on who performed the night action. Your equipment is the Scalpel. You win by joining a side and succeeding in their win criteria.
26-28, Ricecracker, Lord Arjay, Scouts.  Ricecraker, Lord Arjay, Scouts, Dragonator, and Rufus are the members of the Sinister Insane. Ricecracker is your charismatic leader. You want to drain the blood of every staff member and patient in this hospital, and have decided to start on the new year. You were members of The Walrus' gang, until Ricecracker worked his way in. You warmed to his charm and supply of narcotics. Together, it's your job to destroy the hospital, one person at a time. You win when you outnumber the Insane.  Ricecracker is the Cult Leader. He can act as either a recruiter or a killer, but will read as an innocent if investigated. Lord Arjay and Scouts are also recruiter/killers, but will read as guilty. All together, the three of you must choose one of you to perform your single night action (one action between the three players). The other two will appear as having slept that night. Killing will work on most players, but recruiting will work on roughly half. I have a pre-decided list of who can and can't be recruited. Players don't know whether they are recruitable or not. When killing, please state which room you want to kill the player in; Monkey, Bear, Rabbit, Chicken, Spider, Staff, the bathroom, the broom closet, or the garden. There is no relevence to the success of the kill, but obviously affects how the morning results appear. Your equipment is The Machete (kill) and The Briefcase Full Of Drugs (recruit). The Sinister Insane team are asked to submit their night actions at one time, preferably by the Cult Leader.
29. Dragonator - Ricecraker, Lord Arjay, Scouts, Dragonator, and Rufus are the members of the Sinister Insane. Ricecracker is your charismatic leader. You want to drain the blood of every staff member and patient in this hospital, and have decided to start on the new year. You were members of The Walrus' gang, until Ricecracker worked his way in. You warmed to his charm and supply of narcotics. Together, it's your job to destroy the hospital, one person at a time. You win when you outnumber the Insane. Dragonator is the Hyponotist. By the power of persuasion, he can put players into a deep sleep, thereby negating their night actions. The Sinister Insane team are asked to submit their night actions at one time, preferably by the Cult Leader.
30. Rufus - Ricecraker, Lord Arjay, Scouts, Dragonator, and Rufus are the members of the Sinister Insane. Ricecracker is your charismatic leader. You want to drain the blood of every staff member and patient in this hospital, and have decided to start on the new year. You were members of The Walrus' gang, until Ricecracker worked his way in. You warmed to his charm and supply of narcotics. Together, it's your job to destroy the hospital, one person at a time. You win when you outnumber the Insane. Rufus is the Framer. Each night, Rufus can choose one player and supply fake evidence to their file. This evidence will make them appear guilty in an investigation. Your equipment is The Clipboard. The Sinister Insane team are asked to submit their night actions at one time, preferably by the Cult Leader.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Here's my rundown, roughly of how people played, in my opinion.  Some people obviously made more of an impression on me through PMs to me, and their behavior in thread.  I don't know what went on in the PMs between each other.

Scum (Ricecracker, Rufus, Lord Arjay, Scouts, Dragonator)
They had no contact with me except night moves, but their moves were incredibly sharp.  The frames took out two player (the King and Sok117) and caused a lot of distention among town.  In other games I've played where a framer was used, it was never successful even once, so I didn't consider it a huge role, just something potentially interesting.  And they parlayed it into huge distrust of Peanuts investigator.

Their killing of Stash was perfectly timed.  He'd cleared Dragonator, and they took him out that night, in order to not let town know that he was an insane investigator.

I was very impressed that Lord Arjay got off so much.

Admiral Ron - I really wouldn't have shown the photo.  I can't speak for anybody else, but it seemed really clear that he was the photographer.  It would have worked better in PM.

Zepher - Played a decent game from where he was, and was a great example of what a town player with no ability can do in a game.  Lots of rational thinking.

BobTCM - Played very well, but was always just off the mark with his protection.  If you see the list of night moves, he was always taking a safe gamble.

Yumiyoshi - A first time player, but unfortunately didn't have the fundamentals of the game down, and wasn't sure how to approach her role.

TinyPies - Died too soon!

ADHO15 - Decent game, but a little quiet.

Big Cam - Died too soon!

iamded - Should have been honorary mafia, killing townies.

Rick - Did very well, considering he had one of the worst roles, the miller.  I'm impressed he was able to build up trust so strongly.  Also, I don't know who cracked it, but realizing that the PR controlled who got a chance for hints could have been a game changer, if they weren't infiltrated so deeply already.

Whitefang - A very unfortunate situation.  He was one of the most useful town abilities, but couldn't play because of the real world.

Sandy - Mostly played smart, not killing every night, but probably shouldn't have lied to say she was the vigilante.

The Penguin - Another first timer, and I wonder if he misunderstood his role.  He seemed to want to get killed, in order to use his grenade.  It's not the best role, suicide bomber, but it is satisfying when town can take a killer out that way, and I like the role.

The King/Jim B - Decent play, but I think they made a big mistake placing their confidence in each other in the open.  It made them ideal targets.

Hinckley - Both one of the best and worst players in the game.  He was really able to rally and play a strong pro-town game, which EB games often lack, but when he was on the wrong track, he couldn't be swayed.  Seeing his town game, I can imagine he's easy to spot as a scum.

Peanuts - I think Peanuts played pretty smart at the start.  I was impressed that he didn't blurt out his Jim B guilty reading as soon as he got it, because there was no way to safely reveal it.  Unfortunately, he had bad luck in using Scouts as a link to Hinck.

Quarryman - Died too soon, for no good reason.

Kovacs - Pretty good game, and selected scum to block a few nights.  Unfortunately, the timing was off.  A shame he couldn't have blocked Draggie sooner.  (btw, having the scum have three members to share actions with is quite common in games, and makes the town blocker only so-so useful)

Shadows - Died to soon for bad reasons (meta-gaming)

badboytje88 - An up and down game.  I thought iamded would shoot him at night.  I was a little disappointed that he didn't 'purely' get lynched, and instead was a side-effect of Scouts being saved by his team.

Stash - Died too soon, but his role is terrible if you don't get that it's a reverse reading.  The second/day time role was a hint, as was the description 'amateur psychologist', but I probably would have fallen for it.

Cornelius Murdock - First or second game?  I thought he did pretty good, and managed to become trusted.

Mrlegoninja - A decent first game, and seemed active.

Roncanator - A decent game.

Sok117 - made very good arguments in his defense, but was a victim of a runaway vote.

I thank you all for your commitment to the game, and your generally good spirits about it.  As 'town', I think Zepher, Rick and Hinckley were the best role models of how to attack the game.  There were other good players, but they didn't survive and lead the way they did.  And I was glad to see all the new players last as long as they did.

And so, Dr. Bloodbrick comes to an end.

I am a Satanist and not ashamed.

Great game, def!  I think you did a great job on everything from the photography to the creation of truly unique characters for us to play.  The idea of Henry was espicially fun because it broke up the day a little and gave us all something to try and figure out.  Thanks for letting me be a part of it.
Being the only one to play both sides, I have to say it was fun both ways but a lot more frustrating on the good side.  At least when you're evil you know who to trust and what really going on.
I'd like to apologize to both Hinkley and Walter.  I couldn't help it when they converted me Night 6.  I was loyal till then.   :grin:
I really look forward to playing more of these games in the future

Wow. What a great game, def! Thank you for letting me be a part of it. It was very frustrating that we didn't convict any Sinisters, but still fun! :sweet:
Congratulations to the winners. You played an excellent game. :thumbup:

The story was brilliant. Could we be seeing a sequel? :tongue:
The characters were also well thought of.

I had no abilities of any kind, and had very little contact with other players, so it wasn't too easy for me to be involved. When I was, it was either annoying or unnoticed. I guess I should have trusted Jesus after all! I never trusted Sal or Tim Tam, though!

Congrats to the winners! I wasn't expecting to win, as this was my first mafia game, but I'd say I made it pretty far. What are your thoughts on each of us?
It was very fun. Thanks for the great hosting Def! :classic:

What are your thoughts on each of us?
I think it's hard to go through it all, but I will in the next few days.  I had a blast hosting it, and hope to do one again in the future.

You did fairly well for a first timer.  It's hard to do your first game (and I messed up my first, somewhat) and simply surviving till the end is a difficult thing.  Here is the break down of the actions, to start with the behind the scenes.  The complete 'Henry' will come soon after.  Maybe tomorrow.  I stayed sober for the length of this game, and am celebrating with red wine tonight.

First, here is Dr. Bloodbrick's Asylum afterlife message board

Argh.  What a revolting mess this was.

First, I must congratulate the winners.  They did an excellent job, and even had me turning against those that I trusted.  That's what good scum do.

At least my early faith in Cornelius Murdoch and Hinckley was well placed.  And my blocking of Dragonator was well-founded, though all it did was lead to my death. :hmpf_bad:

Too bad the lack of results led to me turning on Hinck and trusting Arjay and Ricey.

Overall I think I played particularly poorly.  I did manage to block three Sinisters, though.  Too bad we didn't put 2 and 2 together when I blocked Arjay.

Out of curiosity, why was there no kill on Night 1?

Oh, as it is customary to post our roles at the end, here is mine:

You are Professor Diem - Quite literally a mad professor. In my opinion, the type of quackery practiced by this fractured physician smears the whole medical profession with its black brush. While teaching at the local medical college, he performed numerous experiments without any medical purpose or sane hypothesis, which left dozens of scarred subjects; giving people blood transfusions from pigs, skin grafts of horses manes onto bald people, transplanting monkey muscle tissue to invalids. Demented and unrepentant, he should never be free. Pathological.

You are a member of The Insane. You're a good guy, and it's your duty to root out the evil Sinister Insanes from the Asylum. You win when they are all dead. You are The Seductress. You can seduce the player of your choice, causing impotence in them, impeding their night action. This involves crawling into their bed at night and giving them a good time.

By the way, big thanks go out to Shadows, for being very encouraging to me when I had the notion to host something; Dragonator, for being open to letting me in line (despite my zero EB mafia win record  :thumbdown: ); Big Cam, for participating and for ordering and shipping some stuff from Brickarms (I think) that was unavailable in Japan; JimB for letting me bounce some ideas off him; and Hinckley, for taking a break from his busy life to participate in my game after I'd read through his two beautifully hosted Baritones games.

And to the rest of you all who participated!

There were numerous disappointments for me, from the early death of Shadows and TinyPies and their glorious head-megabluck abilities, to perpetual block of Hinckley and his uber-valuable power switch abilities.  But, the game came together, and goes to show that reality, and its absolute randomness (and this game was built on randomness, more tomorrow about that) can build a solid narrative.

Hmm.  Bitterness.  Hypocrisy.  At least, you have a sense of humor  :laugh:

You were grouped with the Insanes.  You didn't read your own profile to debate Stash's 'not Insane' reading.  There's not much to argue there.

I gave "neutrals" a more than fair chance by aligning them with the good guys.

Let's take this chance to analyze:

Why Shadows Died

1) Stah2Sixx and Hinckley meta-gamed.  Neither of them had a single reason to investigate/go after Shadows, except that they were meta-gaming.  And it shot the both in the foot.  Sorry guys.

2) Stash was the insane cop (the day cop, whose role was 'amateur psychiatrist') and would label any non-Sinister as "not Insane".  That was bad luck.

3) Shadows ignored his player profile which said, "you are Insane."  If he had noticed this, he could have explained to Stash that he explicitly was Insane, and a) saved himself and b) helped the good guys know their one investigator was getting reverse results, and thereby change the whole game, in favor of the good guys.

So, I'm willing to take shit for stuff I'm guilty of, like, writing the word shit, but not for the rest.  It's just sour grapes.

I honestly don't remember if I thanked you in the discussion thread or not for hosting the game, def.  But you did a wonderful job.  The entire game was photographed beautifully, and the story was compelling.

So was there any way for me to actually prevent the Sinister from killing at night?  I blocked Arjay one night, who was doing most of the killing, and Scouts stepped up and did the dirty deed.  Blocking Ricey didn't help, either.   :cry_sad:

Most definitely, yes.

The baddies had three members, and they had to choose one each night to act as either recruiter or killer.  The other two just slept at night.  So, if you had targeted the one with a decided action, they would have been blocked.

The town blocker is slightly less useful than the others, since it doesn't know what to target.  But, you were very successful the last night, since Hinck was not blocked.  Unfortunately, both of his targets were scum, and neither got convicted that last day.

Truthfully, I thought it was pretty unfair to scum when the game began, but scum had a near perfect first three days, and town had a near perfectly disastrous first few days.

Otherwise, you might have had better luck.  You can read the history and see how close you were.

Ah, damned, the game could have ended differently if I wouldn't have invstigated the PR.
Anyway, at first it was a fun game, especially because I didn't think I would survive the day when the King was proven scum.
I didn't know they had a framer, which made me believe I was a random cop. Sorry for suspecting you to use a bastard role, def. Great job you did. :thumbup:
And congratulation to the winners. You all played greatly the townies, including me.
I remember I had to decide wether to investigate JimButcher or someone else who I forgot, but I decided to make sure the PR was no scum. Unfortunetly the insanes framed the PR. From then I trusted Scouts and told him I was the investigator, and who I planned to investigate. Seems like two mistakes who finally killed me.
And a nice ending to the story, def.

At least you admit that there were neutrals. As for being aligned, I wasn't, I've read it 10 times. I was neutral and had to survive. Nothing more, nothing less. It's kind of the meaning of neutral.

I would have if Stash or Hinck had said "hey, we found our you're sane" prior to starting the call for my death. If you actually read that day, I did say that I was insane, just differently so, which I think was a fair analysis of the vague information given. I laid out my entire role, but from what I've been told, there was some confusion behind the scenes that had nothing to do with me. So that's that. I'm just pissed that there were neutrals and you know why, anything else is just you arguing the wrong point.

Hmm, I'm not so sure I like that, but I won't complain too much.  Once I blocked Ricey and got no appreciable results, I would never in a million years try and block him again, no matter how scummy he seemed.   Same for Arjay.  Once Ricey was "cleared" of being the killer, he could kill/convert with impunity.

You mentioned this in the Afterlife.  Why did you think the scum were at a disadvantage?

And for the record, I disliked the lack of minimum votes.  It made it way too easy for the scum to simply not vote, or place a random vote every now and then.  Voting tendencies are one of the town's tools, and we didn't have it this game.  It placed even more reliance on Night Actions for finding the scum, and everyone saw what we did with those.  Of course, I haven't actually looked to see how the scum voted yet.  Maybe there was a pattern if we look.

Nope, "neutrals" is not neutrals.  The only way you could be drawn out was by the insane investigator, which you were.  You were aligned with the Insane.

Blame Stash.  His results were, "not Insane".  Hinckley had the only ability to identify non-town.  Between the two of them, they came to the results they did.

Sensitive folk, be warned, I'm going to swear.

I'd like to begin by thanking Shadows for freaking out. It gave me good perspective for getting over my own bitterness.

I will be taking a break from life and checking into a real asylum for a while as I deserve the "Takes the game too seriously" award, or as Rick would put it "am the only candidate" for said award. Oh, look I have four PMs, I wonder if they're from the Secret Garden Club, or the Moon Rocket club. Or if it's just another odd disjointed PM from yumiyoshi. :tongue:

Let me start by telling Dragonator, "You are no longer my friend. I'm serious. I trusted you and you walked all over it. What did you think this was? Some sort of game? Where the object is to lie to people? You took my trust and you treated it like garbage. I can't believe you would do that to someone. It shows what type of person you really are. I would never do such a thing unless it meant moving up one notch on the 'survived' list of EB mafia games. For shame and congratulations. Awesome game. As a matter of fact, hats off to an almost perfect game. I can't believe you talked us into letting Arjay live. I'm an idiot."

Next, to everyone else I apologize, because we never ever could've won that because of my blind trust of Dragonator. Wow, what a mess. Shadows's game profile said he was Insane? Odd, I even read it and didn't pick that up myself. Going after him was metagaming. Again, I'm sorry. I always go after him because he's the scummiest mafioso of any scum that ever walked the face of the Earth. Except he's nothing in comparison to my new love, Dragonator. :wub: But, when a game starts and you can't tell anything and it's that first night, you just focus on Shadows because you're bored and have nobody else to go after. It's why I was blocked on my first night of Mystical Castle. People go after names they recognize, which is why it's probably best to stay in bed if you're known in these games.

I will next apologize to my employer for doing nothing but think, dream, post in this game for the last week...or two. I don't know what came over me. I never do this, but this game ate at me. I was so upset the day I had no clue what the answer was to that stupid take-out food riddle. This game really widdled down my self-esteem. I can't count the number of days I felt immensely stupid.

Which leads me to Rick. Thanks to Rick for being my rock in this and helping me keep things somewhat in perspective. Awesome job keeping everyone else out of the garden. Sorry that we both formed an alliance of all scum. :hmpf: You probably hate me now, but after going through that with you I feel very close with you. Rufus and Cornelius Murdock can go fuck themselves but we are friends.

My next apology goes to all the Insane who made it to the end only to die, and also to the uninfected who made it through Infection to the end, also only to die. It seems my only purpose in Mafia Games anymore is to freak out and lead people to their doom. I'm playing more though, I'm addicted and it's my new purpose in life.

In retrospect, Dragonator never voted for the ones we really wanted dead. Scouts, Lord Arjay. We just narrowly missed them.

Yumiyoshi, what the fuck? Pull the trigger!

Stash, my first ally, missed you very much in this game. :cry_sad: Just be happy you didn't waste two weeks as the Sinister's puppet only to die, unclimactically in the end.

To def, awesome job, I'd like to see you host another one. Character development, sets, new actions, all great stuff. I had a blast, even if I was incredibly frustrated. (Who wants me to post ALL the PMs that were going behind the scenes?) If you want specific feedback, please contact me and we can talk about some things I may have done differently. The garden was my favorite new feature, what a smart idea and having the PR have the possibility of lying to get those he trusted in to talk to Henry. That was very smart. Let me ask you, though, what the hell was with having four independents? And what mind-bending actions did they have? Anyway, I'm used to one neutral serial killer and don't understand the point of other neutrals. 5 Sinister and 4 neutrals is a lot to be up against. Bad luck really made it hard for the town to win in this one. One more day would've uncovered a ton, I think. I was feeling very positive and it is really disheartening to lose, right when we were on the brink of finally figuring things out. The town needs time to test their actions, while the scum knows exactly what they're doing. This game felt unbalanced, but that's my perspective as a losing townie, who trusted way too easily. Just ask Rick. But one more day, Rick and I even had a thread going about how we might not be able to trust Dragonator. :look: Wow, it's true. We were actually considering it. I'm very competitive and we finally had some consistency and were finally gaining some traction. I hate losing. I hate it. But this was a very fun journey. And thank you for hosting it and putting it all together. And thanks for asking me to play. I really shouldn't have. Life is too crazy right now, but it's nice to be involved again and form friendships with new members.

Walter Kovacs, too bad we didn't compare notes. :blush: I was wondering where you went. We were stalking you. We saw you online. The whole hospital turned against you while you were posting in Harry Potter's Wizarding Duel. I thought you gave up. I really thought you were going to be our first scum. Nice call on not trusting Draggy. What made you think he was lying? Too bad Arjay and Ricey were there to stop you.

Ricecracker, excellent game. I hate you. :tongue:

Scouts and Rufus, the hurt feelings thing will not work in the future. I will rip out everybody's heart and stomp on it in these fucking games. Assholes. :tongue:

Anyway, it was fun. Sorry I'm such a blind-trusting idiot. I hope to make it up to "survived 3 games" someday.

EDIT: One last thing def, good luck in my game if you play it. You're going to get the most impossible role I can think up. Not because I didn't like the game, but because you're giving Shadows reason to say "I told you so." "I told you not to trust Dragonator." I hate nobody more than Shadows. :tongue:

This is not unusual in games I've played, and gives scum a balancing flexibility.  They were outnumbered 5:1 (including the bomb <the penguin> the serial killer <Sandy> and the misleader <TPRU>).  Just by the odds, they should have been randomly encountered.

Quote

You mentioned this in the Afterlife.  Why did you think the scum were at a disadvantage?
As above.  Also, town had three potential investigators (Hinckley, Stash, and Peanuts, plus Admiral Ron's vague photos).  If they hadn't revealed their abilities online, they could have really kicked megablocks.  Particularly, I understand that Hinckley didn't realize the potential of his ability until day three.  By then it was too late.  He should have found a leader like JimB and explained things to him in PM rather than explain in thread.  If he'd done so, and Jim had believed him, they would have been in a much better place.  With his ability, all the abilities could have been shuffled, and the good guys would have been in a much better place.  Unfortunately, this is a matter of hindsight.

Quote

Lord Arjay is the golden boy here.  Scouts is second place.  Ricecracker third.  Rufus and Draggie never had their neck on the line.  But how Lord Arjay survived is a testament to his mastery, and my fear of playing a game with him.

You're a scary MF, mr. Arjay.

Let me call bullshit on you here. There was a host-official picture of me injecting another player with a syringe. Explaining things to Jim Butcher wouldn't have done crap. People were already voting against me. It was day 2. I didn't trust our leader and didn't have anyone I trusted enough, that other people trusted to come to my defense. Anybody who tried to defend the deranged freak injecting other people would've gone down with me.

And correction: I didn't understand my night action until like two days ago...and not game days...

Weekends tend to be busy for me, and I only had about 5-10 minutes online time that night.  Not nearly enough time to catch up on a dozen PMs and read through the day thread.  But plenty for a quick Wiz Duel post.  Guess I should have made more time.   :laugh:

As for not trusting Draggy, it was actually YOU I didn't trust at the end of things.  I was even talking to Ricey, CM and Arjay, drumming up support for a movement against you.  Whoops.   :blush:

But you were too obvious a target to be the killer, so I went to the person you seemed to trust most, who was Draggy.  It all worked out.  Sort of.

Like I said, I thought I played fairly poorly overall.  I might take a break and just watch Werewolf from the sidelines (and get my head back together), though my wife REALLY wants to help me play through that one.  I'm trying to convince her to make an account and sign up for it instead.   :devil:

I do! I do!  :devil:

Dear God, there were a lot.  I will say one thing, Hinck is prolific.

Posted Image Lupo: a confession

Firstly, I'd like to say a great big thank you for def for letting a relative mafia-noob play this stunning game, and for hosting it so brilliantly.  Everything was superbly executed: the character roles and their development, the player roles which even kept us sinister guessing, the photography (and the photographic investigation which was a lovely touch), Henry's riddles, and the storyline which was intriguing and at times poignant - the slide into insanity of Dr Bloodbrick especially.  And you've given us hope of a sequel!  Nice photographic zoom at the end there :wink:

Secondly, I want to apologise profusely for those I've had to deceive - most notably Hinckley and Rick.  I know that's what the game is about, but I hate lying to my friends :cry_sad:

I thoroughly enjoyed the teamwork in the sinister gang- though nearly thwarted on a number of occasions by the Jesus gang's dogged efforts.  There was a very nervy couple of hours at the end of the day yesterday!  Hinck and Rick again deserve special mention for putting so much effort into trying to track us down - they played a blinding game, and at times it felt to us that they really deserved to win.

We were, in my opinion, greatly helped by three pieces of luck.  The first, as def has mentioned, was no-one realising that Stash was the insane cop - had they done so, Draggy would have been in real trouble and not the trusted insider.   The second was the unexpected success of the framing role - we framed the Chief night One, and Peanuts happened to investigate him; after that it was fairly easy to assume he'd go after the King.  The third was Admiral Ron catching Jesus in the act, forcing Hinck to claim his night role.  After that we just had to keep blocking him.

Those are my thoughts, but you all - my teammates included - may disagree.

Let me ask you, though, what the hell was with having four independents? And what mind-bending actions did they have? Anyway, I'm used to one neutral serial killer and don't understand the point of other neutrals. 5 Sinister and 4 neutrals is a lot to be up against.
A deep, insightful post, so I'll address this post, some of which I got to with Mr. Kovacs.  The Insane independents, as they were termed, had separate win conditions.  Sandy only had to kill three people, and could win with either side.  TPRU had to switch only three targets, and could win with either side.  Shadows could win with either side.  There was meant to be an amount of headfuckery, this was an asylum, and unless they were Independent, there was no incentive to do any headfuckery.  Badboy got the Jester role (http://mafiascum.net...hp?title=Jester) which was a lot easier.  But it had a separate win condition.

None of those were weighed against town, except the Jester which wasted a lynch (in this case, against the guilty Scouts), so I really considered this game as at a ratio of 4:1, town to scum, with some wild cards to randomize the game.  And those wild cards never game into play except to waste lynchings (Shadows and Badboy).

So, town lost this game, not that they were beat.

I am a Satanist and not ashamed.
