Thanks for the review, was waiting for this one. still looks like one amazing set, definitely want it.

Noticed that Rex still seems to have the old helmet with the longer visor as opposed to the shorter ones in the Battle Pack. Guess they didn't change it on figures they already had made. Makes me wonder what Cody will have, shortened or longer visor.

It means that other than S@H and the Brand Stores, its only available from one major retailer. It won't last as long, but long enough for you to pick up some discounts at events like Black Friday.

I love this set, the canon is gorgeous and you can never have too many droids. But the price seems a little too much for what you'll get. I just think that in 2011 there are going to be much better things you will be able to do with 39.99 ... I hope I can find this set at a sale or with a damaged box so that I can pay only 50% of its price...

This is one of the 2011 sets which I'm definitely going to buy! Everything from the minifig selection (Luminara :wub:

) and the BARC speeder to the Proton Cannon is just perfect!

Great review. I might just have to go and get one when I get some money. Lots of great parts in there, like the fake hydraulics. That's one of the new roman pillar pieces used at the base of the cannon right?

Anyone else feel that the proton cannon looks a little too...um...cute? I just think those big eyes make him look adorable!

In my opinion, this is one of the worst sets of the year. It looks like someone decided to put a bunch of circular 2x2s on legs. As for the speeder, are there ANYdifferences to the one in the clone battle pack? I didn't think so! Now that my mini rant is over with I still enjoyed your review very much and you should keep 'em comin'! (next time choose a better set though!) Oh and p.s. I know this is kind of off topic but I started to use the spell checker WhiteFang! Thanks for the idea

Great review, thanks! I put this together last week, after buying the set for Luminara only. I ended up enjoying the build, and think that the cannon actually is pretty neat. With the barrel slightly elevated, it looks great sitting on the kitchen counter all by itself.

Excellent review, thanks very much! This is probably the only set of the year my mind isn't made up on. There's something I like about it but the whole set just feels... wrong :hmpf_bad:

. After reading your very fine review, however, I now feel this set isn't worth it at all (dispite those nice fake hydraulics :wub:

).

So I for one will be leaving this set on the shelf. I find it a real shame that this is the best lego could come up with for 'battle for geonosis' :cry_sad:

But that could be a good thing with the amount I'm spending on Lego these days :grin:

But this was a great review - easy to follow, good pictures, clearly explained. Thanks heaps! :classic:

Hmm. I agree with you that the cannon looks too much like a face, which is probably my only problem. I might modify it to put the barrel (the whole thing, not the piece :tongue:

) under the red pieces so it would look like a larger dwarf spider droid.
Interesting hydraulics pieces, I imagine they'll replace other similar parts that are probably oversized for use in system sets.

I'm not really into Star Wars, but this looks like a very cool set. I'm particularly impressed with the cannon, it looks like it could be great fun to modify!

They've been in use in City and Creator sets already, like in fire trucks.

Yes, but what makes this a cool set is that it comes with both the speeder and the canon. :)

I can't wait to get this set, again, Lego are outdoing themselves with the minifigures! The BARC is very nice and the Proton cannon is very nicely designed!

Technically they are the same but they come with Different Colours. Green in the Battle Pack and Red/Maroon in this Geonosis Set :wub:

I was really hoping to get some red/Geonosis battle droids with this set. Apart from that, it seems like a cool little set but as always, it depends on the GBP. If it is £25 then that's reasonable.

I'm falling behind to The Penguin's army! Even though we're on the same side... I had no idea it was so big but then I haven't posted in 8 months or so.

So I could swear that this set was around the £25.99 (or thereabouts)... but looking on shop@home tonight it's now listed as £35.99?! Seems they may have marked the price wrong... but £35.99 is a wee bit excessive...

This review also lists the pice as 24.99 GBP. I'd think the 35.99 price is the typo. If not... well, it's a really bad deal. :hmpf_bad:
