Scorpio Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 (edited) Here is my Christmas city as seen at the 9th Annual NILTC Lego Train Show at Cantigny. I was going to use elements of my Christmas city to create an entry for the winter village contest but I just plain ran out of time. I am looking to expand my winter village section for next year so please leave ideas for improvement! As always, comments, questions and criticism always welcome. Overview of the Winter Village section Come visit Santa, roast a marshmellow, or join the snowball fight between the Stormtroopers and Snowtroopers but look out for the Grinch on the roof as he is looking to ruin Christmas. See the grand Christmas tree and giant presents and visit with Charlie Brown and Lucy and see Snoopy's award-winning dog house. Although it is almost Christmas citizens still need to work. Catch the train at the station. Alternate view of the Winter Village. Make sure to rent some ice skates but don't fall in like that unlucky Stormtrooper. A full gallery of my entire city can be found here: Brickshelf Also more pictures I took of the NILTC display can be found here: NILTC Display Pictures Also, to answer a question right away, the lights I used are 15 bulb battery-operated LED lights that I bought from Walgreens. They were on an end cap in the store and sold for $4. The switch offered always on and blinking. I was very impressed with them as they lasted the entire show on their original batteries from Friday at setup (around 4ish) through Sunday at close (around 4ish) without ever being turned off at night so roughly 48 straight. streifen Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 OMG!! the roads are made of black & yellow tiles! how many of these did you use? Quote
Aethersprite Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Awesome MOC! I especially love the Snowtrooper-Stormtrooper snowball fight. Quote
RoryoCox Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Wonderful. I love the Christmas tree and the lights on the buildings. Overall, everything is great- I can't comment on each one individually or I'd just be saying there are good. Thanks for Sharing this fantastic display Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Ditto....AWESOME ! Fantastic how you combined Star Wars with Toy Story and finishing with Peanuts - I haven't seen that before ! Keep on playing in brick-built snow ! Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 And another AWESOME! Nice work on the snowball fight, the buildings, the green santa , everything. Though LED's in the tree would be nice as well, the lights already give it a great feeling. Good work Quote
freeedrik Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Wow, that is a realy realy cool layout!!! Everything is just perfect Quote
Scorpio Posted December 23, 2010 Author Posted December 23, 2010 (edited) OMG!! the roads are made of black & yellow tiles! how many of these did you use? The roads are actually brick built roads. I use tile for the sidewalks and in my display I have over 2000 2x2 Dark Bley tiles. Though LED's in the tree would be nice as well, the lights already give it a great feeling. I have enough LED's to light the tree but the tree was originally going to be part of my Winter Village entry and the contest rules limited the materials to only Lego. L@go Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 That's a great display. I particularly like the trees with snow on - from a distance they almost look like the real thing! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 That's indeed and amazing Christmas display! Lots of interesting details going on there, from the giant Christmas tree, to the ice-skating rink, to the beautifully-built train station, and to the wide array of characters like Snoopy & Charlie Brown, Toy Story pals, Stormies, and even the Grinch! Simply a fantastic job you've done here DHCP1121! Quote
