I know that Ice Planet has already been posted, but these files are error free excepting pieces that are not currently available in MLcad.

From the image alone, the front cockpit windscreens on your 6973 Deep Freeze Defender seem to be Trans Orange, where they should be Trans Neon Orange. Unfortunately, I cannot download the submodels to see (see below).

All sections or sub-models can be found at my Brickshelf page. All are done in LDR format for easy combining and editing.

http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=522144

I would recommend using the MPD format, which can be easily created using MLCad. The beginning of the thread states: One set in one file. So not one set in 2 files, or 2 sets in one file.

Also, your M:Tron and Ice Planet 2000 Brickshelf pages are currently private, meaning no one would be able to download the submodels anyway.

Yep, that's one of the rules...

I took a look at his Brickshelf and I thought they were all in 1 file, but now I took a second closer look, it seems some of them are in 1 file and some not. :sceptic:

The ones that aren't in 1 file will become irregular in the index...

Good catch, I checked through my whole Ice Planet line-up, it was just the 6973 cockpit and the rockets (which aren't really visible). I will change the file. Anytime a change is made to a folder on Brickshelf it is blocked from the public until it is reviewed, so just give it a day or two for them to review it.

As far as the way the files are done, I don't do it as a LPD because the files can't be combined as easily when making a large file and are the parts aren't then visible. If they don't make the registry, that's fine, or someone can combine them.

5767 Cool Cruiser (Model C) [Creator, 2011]

5767%20Cool%20Cruiser%20%28Model%20C%29.png

MPD file

Of all the Creator sets I've put together, overall 5767 probably has the most interesting selection of models. Whereas some sets have a great A model and less-than-great B and C models, each of these models is generally an interesting build that ends up with a nice-looking vehicle.

@@juraj3579: I really like your renders made using Blender. How long do they generally take to finish? It's also a shame that Blender does not have it's own library of Lego parts, like LGEO used in POV-Ray, as curved parts don't come out perfectly smooth.

Thank you. Actually it's not that time consuming. I have 1 source file with the enviroment setup (1 space plane as background, 1 baseplate and lighting setup). I import wavefront (.obj) file of lego set in this setup, do some positioning and camera tweaking. Replace the materials from a material library file with script I wrote and do render (ca. 40min to 1 hour for 1920x1080 resolution with 500 samples - depends on the parts count especially transparent ones) - so maybe 2-2.5 hours together for a set.

Yes, there is a problem with the curved parts. I tried also another import scripts (ldraw to blender) but with no luck. I suppose the problem is with the lack of geometry comming from ldraw, also the part faces are tris and not quads, which causes also problems. I tried also smooth shading in Blender, but got some weird shadows on the parts.

There is one project, I found http://www.blendpoli...hp?f=12&t=37706 (you can build models direct in blender), but it was not updated longer time and there are not so many parts yet.

It would be really nice to have something like LGEO for Blender for smooth parts and also the lego logo on the studs...or maybe combine the enviroment made in blender and lego model togehter in pov-ray

I'm trying to finish up all of the Creator sets I've already posted, by making sure I've done each variation from the set. For the above, I've already posted the A, C and D versions, so figured this one really needed to be done.

6628-1: Shell Tow Truck [Town/1981]

8683474085_eed6f0eabe_c.jpg

6628-1: Shell Tow Truck by juraj3579

6628.l3b

I improved the quality of the models recently. Found some modifiers in blender, which gives me better results on the smooth curves. I also did some scripting for batch operations. Then, I find another way to import the models to blender. I export the ldraw file to lightwave format and then import it to blender. The mesh looks better, it has also lego logo on the studs, but unfortunately, the studs are still too edgy (see the wheels). So, still the dilemma - .obj with smoother studs but no logo vs. lightwave with logo but edgy studs :wall:

l also created another scene - more studio like.

I don't know if this is of any interest to you, but I recently read that there are 2 versions of the studs in LDraw. There's stud.dat and stu2.dat (or anything like that, I don't remember exactly). Stud.dat has 8 corners and stu2.dat has 16 corners, so is more smooth. LDview usually renders the model with the hq version, but I don't know about exporting...

I need to comeback and overtake C3POwen again. Haven't been working on official sets in ages though. Don't worry I shall return...one of these days.

Looking at the LDraw files, it seems that stu2.dat is the low-quality version with 8 sides and stud.dat is the 16-sided version. I don't know too much about converting from LDraw to Lightwave, but perhaps you could try making a copy of stud.dat, rename it to stu2.dat and then copy it over the original stu2.dat? This might force it to convert to a higher-quality Lightwave object. You could even create a very high-quality version of the stud using LDraw's hi-res "48" library of primitives.

I was genuinely surprised when I saw that I had topped the list of contributors! :oh:

Notes: The rubber bands were created using MLCad's rubber belt generator, so should display in most LDraw-compatible programs.

You may notice that the above renders have much lighter shadows than previous ones I've done. This is because I've been playing around with POV-Ray's gamma settings.

Prior to POV-Ray 3.7, all scenes were rendered using an "assumed_gamma" setting of 2.2, which does not necessarily produce the most realistic results. With the introduction of version 3.7, a gamma of 1.0 is applied to the scene to make sure that colours are displayed properly (unless an "assumed_gamma" of 2.2 is specified in the file's "global_settings").

Unfortunately, by just setting "assumed_gamma" to 1.0 in a file will cause the scene to render with very pale, washed-out colours (see an example here). The resolution is to force POV-Ray to parse all LGEO colours using SRGB, rather than normal RGB, and this is done in the "lg_color.inc" file. The results look a bit better, but the problems don't end there. The colour of the floor needs to be altered a bit, and so does the fog distance, as this can also cause the image to look washed out. I found that setting the fog with a distance of "LDXRadius*10000" did the trick.

Finally, if you are using the SRGB colour space, you have to define the "assumed_gamma" of the file, as if you don't the render will fail. This is resolved by setting a declaration in the "lg_color.inc" file to force a gamma of 1.0 if "assumed_gamma" is not present in the POV-Ray file.

I've also found that my current radiosity settings now show up a few more artefacts that were previously disguised by darker shadows, but resizing the images down goes some way to hiding these.

Thank you for your advice. I just found another option, which is included in the Lightwave Exporter (I should read the readme files more often... ) and allows using "premade" parts in lightwave format instead of converting .dat (actually, the stud was already there). I just made small test with 1x1 brick and it looks promising. I'll try render something tomorrow.

I haven't made a set either in the past weeks. But that's because I'm working on instructions for a Technic moc of someone else :classic:

I've been working on larger LDraw MOCs and even those I don't get much time to work on these days. Besides, Mafia is eating up all my time. Blame those fellows on the LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Forum who keep on pumping out those horribly addicting games.

No, seriously, I will be back...sometime.

I tried doing the Troll Battle Wheel sometime back, but had real difficulty getting everything to attach properly. Any ideas? I got it to attach well once or twice, but that was when I was having computer problems, and both times the computer crashed while I was working on it.
