For us, lovers of the Forestmen (Robin Hood) Lego line in Europe, the 6071 set Forestmen's Crossing has been like a frustrating dream. Unlike the other sets from the same series of 1988-1990, it has never been sold in Europe. Nobody knows why.
I always wished to have it, but was not ready to pay extreme prices for which it is offered on Ebay or Bricklink, now. Hence, these days I decided to built my own version of the set. My small MOC is made 20 years after the release of the original, so it is a sort of homage to this wonderful set. The idea to build it was stimulated also by the fact that this year two minifigs from the Forestmen series were released: a forest lady in Vintage Minifigure Collection Vol. 5 and a forest hunter in Minifigure Collection Vol. 1.

So, here are some pictures of my version.

Unlike the original set, in my version, forest people can use the suspension bridge in the canopy to get from one river bank to the other. But, it is an adrenaline experience. Let us make the trip:

First, enter the old hollow oak tree Posted Image, then use the ladder inside the partly burned stem Posted Image,

balance the suspension bridge Posted Image,

get down to the old castle platform Posted Image and, finally, use the stone steps to get back to the ground Posted Image.

Enjoy it!

It's a very classic looking scene and the small gentle stream really makes the setting.I appreciate that you used mainly older pieces in it's construction as well as tecniques.

Wow, that's great! Just love the colors and details. Might even be better than the original in some aspects.

What a beautifull moc! I like it very much. :classic:
I love the remade groundplate with brooke and some sand alongsided it. I also like the tree with foliage very much and the treasure room is nice too.

Stellar! Great homage to the original set and is full of nice details. I love the rock (cheese slope) ladder and don't think I've seen that before.

This reminds me that I have a lot of Forestmen figs / pieces and don't think I've ever MOCed with them before. I think I need to do that soon!

Thank you all for your nice words.

I think we all agree that the Forestmen line was one of the most unique ones among the Lego historic themes.

Yes, indeed.
Very well made MOC, like you I don't have the original LEGO set.
The Forestmen are great, I really liked them back then, when I was a kid.

Nice new version of an old set! Great mixture of older and newer pieces! And I think the tree even looks better in your version! The little spring next to where the female minifig is standing is also a very nice detail!

A beautiful re-imagining of a classic set, well done on the nice details like the ladder.
Keep em coming.

Since the original set was wonderful it's not much in the way of a surprise to say that a recreation of it is great. However, I think this MOC also demonstrates that the two shades of brown does give anything with "wood" a nice realistic flair.
