[KEY TOPIC] Official LEGO Sets made in LDD

Recommended Posts

Just finished a two-day undertaking: 10213 Shuttle Adventure. Had to do it in three parts, since my computer totally isn't powerful enough to let me put all the sections together. Part 1 is the shuttle itself and the satellite, part 2 is the fuel tank and solid rocket boosters, and part 3 is the launchpad, go-kart, and floodlights.

Thankfully only a few errors:

  • The yellow shock absorbers are left to the side. Although I tried to edit the raw code of an LXFML file to get them compressed the right amount, I just can't manage working with that many decimal places.
  • The clip left to the side belongs at the end of the robotic arm. However, I could not find an angle at which it could fit when the shuttle is fully closed.
  • this nozzle piece is not available on LDD, so I substituted this practically identical version.
  • This piece was not available on LDD at all, and was left out.
  • This piece is defective on LDD, and has closed studs rather than open studs. It did not affect the build of this set at all, and will be reported in the Bugs and Brick Errors topic as soon as I'm done here.
  • Color #297 Warm Gold is used in place of whatever gold color the minifig visors are. The painted metallic gold color used for minifig visors is not on the 2010 color palette, and I do not know whether it is even available on LDD.

This was fun, and I'm certainly going to find a way to get my hands on this set so I can build it for real. Enjoy!

[in "Yoda Speak"] yoda-anger.png“Want me, the Star Wars fans will. With Count Dooku my necklace popped off during my fight. Herh herh herh. Strong with me, The Force is."

[in English] I modeled this 1,075-piece Yoda 7194 Ultimate Collectors Series (UCS) Set from 2002-2003.

In LDD, Yoda’s necklace chain cannot be bent around his neck. The head rotates on a 4x4 turntable.

Here is the LDD Yoda_7194_LDD.lxf building instructions file.

yoda_7194_pic01.png7194-1.ImageL.thumb2.jpg

[EDIT: Thanks to Aanchir for fixing Yoda's eyes and color scheme. The updated LDD .lxf file and new LDD screen print have been uploaded to Bricklink, and should be available in 1 day after it's been made public.]

As Yoda indicated above, the two “ball” eyes cannot be popped into their sockets (which is a known flaw in LDD, I believe).

Great job! And I like that you've included a pic of the original one. Nice touch!

I haven't seen the error with the eye-balls. But is it a legal connection? Isn't the Scala Bed Know larger in diameter than an ordinary rotation joint ball?

Also, dluders, I started the Darth Maul statue but had to give up due to the confusing instructions. The base (his torso) is complete, so you can have that if you wish. Anyone else is welcome to it too, of course. :classic:

@ Superkalle: For Yoda's eyeballs, I have no idea whether the x12 Finial Round (Scala Roof, Belville Bed) piece is larger in diameter than the x201 Technic Ball Joint . They LOOK the same. The Scala bedpost finial knob is needed so that the 1x1 round plate can be fitted into the hole to make Yoda's iris. I also don't have any idea whether placing the Scala ball into the Technic socket is considered to be a "legal connection" anymore, but (apparently) it was in 2002 when the 7194 set was released. :sceptic:

@ADHO15: I sent you a PM to ask you to e-mail me your partially-complete LDD .lxf file for the 10018 Darth Maul UCS set. It has 1,868 pieces , so it may take me a while to complete it! I'll give you credit for what you've done already when it gets posted. :classic:

The Technic ball joint can indeed legally connect to a stud. I've taken the liberty of downloading your Yoda and updating it in the following ways:

  • The eyes have been inserted.
  • All the light blue parts have been changed to old light grey (since light blue was apparently your placeholder color for old light grey).
  • All cool yellow parts have been changed to tan (this was an easy-to-make error, so nothing to be ashamed of).
  • All dark stone grey (dark bley) parts have been changed to old dark grey.

To make these changes, I had to change the angle of his neck, so he's now (temporarily) facing straight. Here is where you can download the updated version from my Brickshelf. Please tell me when you have done so so that I can delete it-- I'd like to reserve my own Brickshelf for models I created myself, and since this was almost entirely your work I'd like it to be credited to you (once you have changed the angle of the head, deleted the old eyes which I left to the side, and made whatever other changes are needed to complete the model).

Thanks, Aanchir, for fixing Yoda's eyes and color scheme! I downloaded your .lxf file and will upload it to Brickshelf and swap-out the LDD file that's linked in my original post above. I really appreciate your help -- Yoda looks a LOT better with his expressive eyes installed!

Updated to LDD 4

10134 - UCS Y-wing Attack Starfighter - Theme: Star Wars

previewqn.png

My first attempt at a model in LDD turned out decent but there were build errors and glaring color errors, which I'm surprised no one pointed out. I rebuilt this model from the ground up and used the colors from the Bricklink inventory. It's as close as I could possibly get it due to some parts not being available in LDD.

Issues/Changes

- No 75c06 Copper Hose, Rigid 3mm D. 6L / 4.8cm

- No 32077 White Wheel 70 x 28 mm Futuristic (used a different wheel)

- No 78c02 White Hose, Ribbed 7mm D. 2L (used 72504 Corrugated Pipe 16mm)

- No 4315 White Hinge Vehicle Roof Holder 1 x 4 (used 44568 Plate 1x4 W/ Stumps Vertical)

- No x102 White Windscreen 6 x 6 x 3 Canopy Half Sphere with Hinge (used Dome 47.84 w. combi hinge)

- 4 32123 1/2 Bush's wouldn't fit on the upright axle of the engines. They caused a collision error.

-----

A couple times when I've re-opened this file, I've gotten the "bricks were improperly placed and have been removed" error on the following:

- 50747 Dome 47.84 w. combi hinge

- 30374 Light Sword - Blade (located above the cockpit)

- 48336 Plate 1x2 w. stick 3.18 (located above the cockpit)

More exellent work ADHO15!

You even built the malevolence!

Cant wait for more!

Thanks, BrickClick. It's always nice to have a fan! :sweet: I hope you'll like the coming works.

What a coincidence, messiah1, here are some of my Y-Wings. :classic:

Many Red Y-Wing Starfighters were also used by bombing squadron leaders later in the Clone Wars, like this one.

I hope LDD 4.0 tweaks the placement issues, I seem to have a hard time getting pieces where they need to be sometimes. It would be nice to have fine-tuning available with maybe an arrow key movment of 1 pixel at a time or something. Or am I just not doing something I should be? Any help would be most appreciated.

Amazing work there messiah1! And like already said by ADHO15, very welcome to the LDD corner of Eurobricks. You are among peers here :classic:

I'll look into your model when I get back from vacation next week. In the meantime hopefully someone else of the LDD super users here at EB can have a look at the problems you've experienced. And about LDD 4 features we're all looking forward to what's coming.

Cheers
