Well built :thumbup:

But I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 1), since from what I can see, there are indeed the 4x2 wedges in the LDD Model

About 2, I'm not sure what you mean by "I prefered to replace". The purpose of this topic is to create exactly the model as in the building instruction, without modifications or customization (unless required because of issues in LDD of course).

Sorry but I don't speak english very well so maybe I'm not clear.

1) No I replaced 4x2 Wedge by 3x2 Wedge (At the top left two corners (you can see one at the left of the 2 transparent yellow plates)). On the building instruction this brick appears at number 5 of page 241 for example.

2) I Don't know how to explain that but when I used the Axle 3 with stud I couldn't fit entirely the angle element in it because I couldn't lower the Axle 3 at the correct height because of a collision with a lower part so I decided to use a technic axle pin instead. But if you want I can remove the axle pin by the axle 3 with stud, the connection is ok but don't fit entirely with the angle element. Pretty sure I'm not clear about this one :laugh: but I'm not enough good in english to explain that correctly.

EDIT:

Maybe it will be more clear with this pic. At the left it's what i did and at the right it's with the building instructions

Image

As you can see at the right the axle with stud don't entirely fit in the angle element. I don't know if it's because of a bug/error in LDD or if it's normal but in the doubt I replaced by the axle pin. It's on this angle element that the top left structure connects so it's an important part. But if you want I can change and put the axle with stud, it's really not a problem ^^

I used to use this site to search for the part number when I couldn't find it in LDD. Now that site's gone; does anyone know if there is a similar LEGO site that has the same function?

@Stephan

Try using brickset, it get data from TLG website.

Normally I use Brickset for that, but -- let's take set 75059 Sandcrawler as an example -- for the mentioned set, there is no inventory at Brickset, neither at BrickLink. So I used to copy the ElementID (the long number, which contains color and print information) of a part for which I wasn't sure about the color. Then I'd paste it into that LEGO Replacement Parts link. Even when LEGO don't have a picture for that part, it still showed the DesignID (the number of the brick) and the color.

Brickset imports the LEGO inventories, but only the parts that have a picture at the LEGO site. So, sometimes new or printed elements won't show up (that's why some sets aren't 100% complete at Brickset). Even when you search Brickset for parts -- for example ElementID 6078346 -- it doesn't show up since it doesn't have a picture at the LEGO site yet.

I hope this explains my point a little better.

@Stephan

Understood. I didn't noticed that brickset don't import parts where image is not available.

Maybe someone that retrieve the previous link will be able to get the new link too.

As Brick version 1392 has brought the new rear tyre let me introduce the "Hot Rod of the year".

Gentlemen, start your engines! :wink:

(Funny, you could consider this set as medium blue set. However only 6 bricks of the 413 have this colour.)

I'm a new member, and I was wondering how you post models.

Hi and welcome :classic:

I asked the same question a few weeks ago so I allow myself to paste the answer here

Hi Elog, and welcome in the LDD Official Set topic.

You can use a file hosting service specific for LEGO files, such as brickshelf or bricksafe.

Once the files has been uploaded, you can direct link them in this topic.

Please, don't forget to carefully read read the rules of this topic (in the first page) before posting.

Take a look at other regular entries too, as examples.

Next in line of Star Wars Technic figures is the Stormtrooper... or so says the box. It's not my favorite model, and the functionality isn't as nifty as I'm used to from the other models. And that alternate model... don't even ask me what s is supposed to be. I gave it a name myself (how about 'Imperial Artillery Unit'?), because I couldn't find one anywhere. In fact an alternate model isn't even mentionned anywhere. Strange, since it did appear in the instructions... Still, I had a nice time, once again! I tried to get the flex tubes etc right this time, and the custom built bionicle body was quite a challenge. Am I lucky there are still a few of these models left!

Hello, again! Sorry for not being able to provide any new sets for a while... been pretty busy in real life, and the fact that my computer mouse seems to be broken has made it a little difficult for me to keep building in LEGO Digital Designer. I'm afraid that all I've got prepared right now is more alternate models that I built a couple months ago (but they are currently saved with the latest brick version). I hope you don't mind!

- Yellow Plate 3022 does not fit into lift mechanism support (irregular build) and is left aside the model. Other option would be to heighten the lift mechanism one hole and add another 3003 brick to the support, but that would mean a modification...

HI Andy! Link to file seems broken. Can you re-share this one please? Thank you!!

Ugh, was caused by the lockdown after the Dropbox security vulnerability, which given I've only ever used it to share LDD models publicly I think I can live with! Should all be fixed again now.

@AndyC

I suggest you to avoid Dropbox, for two reasons:

  • it proved itself as unreliable if you want to maintain stable links for a long time.
  • it has a sort of "fake direct link" that deceive my download manager. The link appears as a direct link but it redirect to a download page. If you try to download it in other ways than clicking on it, the result is a corrupted download (a webpage is saved, but renamed as an lxf file).
