Hi.

So I'm looking to get a backdrop for a moonbase MOC, to give it a cool display. I would like something like the one used in the old Unitron theme.

Like in this picture.

So basically I want to get the grid with stars and planets, to use as a background poster for a moonbase display. Is there any way I can buy one, or print myself? I would make it, but I don't have the skill nor the means.

BTW, I need to fill a 24" high, 33" wide area.

I would try emailing Lego or search Google images if your looking for the background.
Good luck. :classic:

All the old space themes had slight variations on that grid pattern. The 6990 monorail actually included a Futuron backdrop, although it's much smaller than the size you are looking for.

Sure thing. I may take some time in the future and make some more (nicer ones too), with a little variety. I'll post them if I ever get around to it. :classic:

That looks awesome, and remember, the lighting effects really help too, so if you have purple or green LED lights to shine on the MOC, it'll really enhance the Unitronny feel!

I was actually thinking of using a black-light, it'll make all the trans-pieces glow.

Oh my gosh... back in my childhood my dad used to do that with my family's Aquazone and Exploriens sets. Ah, the memories...

Of course, it works best with the colors LEGO calls "fluorescent"-- that includes trans. neon green (transparent fluorescent green), trans. neon orange (transparent fluorescent reddish orange), trans. ice blue (transparent fluorescent blue), and a couple less common colors used for eye colors in BIONICLE.

I think trans neon-green works the best of any color. Here are some examples:

Trans. neon green is almost impossible to match in its glowiness. Even in regular light it's a lot more vibrant than most transparent colors (which are usually glassy-looking rather than reflective). Of course, try telling that to a BIONICLE fan-- I'm probably one of very few who was happy with the shift in 2006 to almost exclusively trans. neon orange and trans. neon green for eye colors (before we usually had six different eye colors in each series of six sets). Rescue uniforms often have fluorescent orange and green accents for a reason.

Trans. neon orange has special memories for me, though, because when my family used to do this the Aquasharks sets were the most vibrant-- we had a few trans. neon green parts, but very little with huge windows like Blacktron II.

I've always loved that giant blacktron II ship you made. I'd love to see it next to this.....

That other model is amazing, and makes mine look small. I hadn't seen it before.
