Many of you have seen my fish and chips stand; however, I have done some updating to the area around it. Here is my current beach:

The beach itself is somewhat separate from the rest of the town (it's on another shelf), but it is rather close to our (pretty plain) A-Frame


This is the rest of the town. A new building is going up--cool points to the first person who can guess what it is.

Nice updates! My favourite is without doubt the beach, with that great waves and details like the foam, the clams or the seagulls And of course the little scene with the screaming guy and the crab is really funny

Cute A frame house 'Mariko' - reminds me of a set from the 1980's - sweet !
What about the poor guy on the beach - crabs like his toes ?!

Thanks; though I have to admit, the seagulls aren't actually my design (though the ravens on the town buildings are). They came from an ad in the back of some LEGO instructions showing the new fire sets.

Great scene, Mariko. As someone who has been pinched by a crab (more than once), this MOC was like looking in the mirror! I love how you constructed the water. And the fish sign on top the store is very clever!

I have two suggestions:

1. I think the boardwalk would look a lot more "wooden" if you tile it with brown planks.
2. I also think the sand looks a little too flat. If you have more tan pieces, maybe adding some mounds and other elevation changes will enhance the overall look.

Overall, a beautiful MOC. Nice work.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
I'll try adding more texture to the sand. As for the boardwalk, well, I don't have that many brown tiles after re-flooring the town hall, but I'll look into ordering some more.

Still no guesses as to what the new building is? There's a big hint on the front of the building itself! (No, it's not a TV News station--those guys are just reporting on the new building going up)

I'm also interested to hear what people think of the town's size and style. Technically, the buildings are on the Modular scale, but I doubt that they'd look that good next to the official sets, or the brilliant creations by many of the members here. So, I tend to think of them as sort of a Classic Town feel, but more complete, and on a Modular scale.

Are you talking about the building with the eyeball? I bet its where one of those fortune-telling card-reading psychics work.

As for the town so far, I like it. Just because it doesn't have the fancy decor of other modular buildings doesn't mean it looks bad. Even though the town only has three buildings so far, it looks very lively and busy. Good work!

I love all the little details such as the clock, the eyeball, and ofcourse, the fish sign on the beach. I would love to see some interior shots.

Thanks; I'm glad that you like it, despite its lack of fancy decor. I'm also glad that it was recognizable as an eyeball, but the building is going to be an ophthalmologist's office.

It's an eye doctor's office? Lol, I was waaayyy off! I said it was a psychic's den because I've seen tarot cards with eye balls on the back. Plus, eyeballs represent looking into the future, right? Also, the diamond pattern above the doors, as well as the building's color scheme looks kind of mystical to me. Guess I don't get the "cool points" huh?

As for your buildings' interior- awesome. In the town hall, I love how the books on the shelves have different degrees of depth. I love the light gray jumper plates you used to create a metal cabinet. The winding steercase and the EZ-chair- both incredible. My only suggestion would be to add some decor to your interior's walls, such as a painting or something. Right now, sections of the interior's wall look a little empty.

The soda shop looks great as well. I love the retro color scheme. The soda fridge is beautiful! Well done! If you have time, take some photos of the fish stand's interior too. I would like to see it.

I discovered it's difficult to get the lighting right for pictures in such a small area as the interior of the fish and chips stand. I'll keep trying, though.

Anyone else have thoughts on my building style? Like it? Dislike it? See ways I could improve?

Nobody else has any thoughts or suggestions? When I posted my first town (Brickenridge), the comments and suggestions of members helped me make it a better town, and I do always want to be improving Rossville. Anyway, I have some more pictures.

Thoughts would be appreciated. I tried to make a sort of a loft for the upper floor, but I couldn't really do it without making the house bigger (and I don't have enough pieces to do that)
